I’m left-handed, but I’ve always been a bit more ambidextrous than your average human being. School has always come really easily to me, especially freshman and sophomore year. As a result, I was often very bored in class.People always tell me I have really nice handwriting. It’s small, it’s neat, and it’s consistent.One day during freshman biology, we were watching a video on air pollution and we were supposed to be filling out a graphic organizer chart to go with it. Every few minutes, the teacher would stop the video and tell us what to write down. Everything went so slowly, and I was quickly losing my mind.I switched my pencil to the other hand and started doodling on the back of my sheet. The teacher noticed pretty quickly and I got scolded for not paying attention. So I flipped my sheet back over but kept the pencil in my right hand. The next time she stopped the video and told us to write something down in the graphic organizer, I wrote with my nondominant hand. It was a bit messier than my normal handwriting but still legible.I wrote with the wrong hand on all of my assignments and activities in her class for the rest of the year. I also did it in my social studies class, my English class, and occasionally in my math class. My doing this drove her absolutely nuts because she insisted I wasn’t paying attention - I was, I promise - but she could never call me on it because there aren’t any rules stating you have to write with your dominant hand.And even if there was, she’d have no way of proving which hand was ‘technically’ dominantShe eventually decided that it was not a battle worth fighting and gave up scolding me for itI won :)PK ~
