Hell no. Fracking has given us energy independence, we don’t have to depend on unstable foreign governments for our energy supplies. I would however be perfectly willing to let all the progressives freeze in the dark.

The saddest thing about this atrocity to the Native American population was that it’s also marked today as one of “the greatest act[s] of clemency.”[1] This is because initially, 303 Native Americans were sentenced to hang.Not often you hear the phrases “largest mass execution” and “greatest act of clemency” describe an event. GST is going to have little impact as far as black money is concerned.Let us consider the following situations.You have a big sweet shop in an upmarket and your turnover is over 10 crore per year. 99% of the customers pay in cash. You declare only ₹ 30 lakhs as the turnover and pay GST accordingly. GST can’t help it.You are running a coaching institute and there are 1000 students are being taught. You are taking all payments in cash and then paying GST for only 100 students fee. This can’t be stopped.You want to purchase a flat valued at ₹ 1 crore. You tell the builder that you would pay ₹ 50 lakhs in cash and pay only ₹50 lakhs by cheque, which is equal to the circle rate there. You save 12% GST and 7% Stamp duty by this arrangement. Builder sells you the flat at ₹50 lakhs. GST can’t stop such transactions.It is absolutely wrong to presume that GST would curb black money.As far as there are taxes, there would be evasions unless the tax laws are so stringent that the tax evaders are immediately sent to jail.The higher are the rate of taxes, more would be evasion.GST can only curb black money in certain cases like when the goods are sold from the manufacturers to the dealers or retailers. This too would be possible when the manufacturer is honest and doing all transactions in cheque. If he sells his good in cash or at lower price (collecting the difference in cash), GST can’t prevent it.The punishment is so lenient in the GST regime that only a person with great conscience would declare all his transactions.Even if a GST raid is conducted and huge tax evasion is detected due to fraud or collusion, the businessmen can get away by paying the tax, interest and penalty of just 15% of the tax evasion under Section 74 of the GST Act(s).GST is, therefore, not going to substantially curb the flow of black money in India as popularly advertised by the ruling parties.
