Surprisingly, one seller called me from Delhi - offering me an ETA General at a price that was 4k cheaper than anywhere in Gurgaon. I should have been alarmed, but I traveled and bought the AC from Delhi - transporting it in my own car. The ordeal had just begun,The installation guy took forever, and when he came in, he was untrained to the point that he made 2 holes in the wall when there was already an outlet for the pipe. The installation was botched up, took 5 hours, and the AC stopped cooling 3 days after he left. I called the company, and they sent someone to have a look at it.The professional came in and confirmed that I had been duped. The AC was imported illegally, the seller was not an Authorized dealer, and the AC was not 1.5 Ton, but a 1 Ton Machine. The installation guy was not from the company, instead an untrained guy sent by the shopkeeper himself.I called the shopkeeper, and asked him to take the AC back. He laughed on my face and said, “payment ho gayi hai sir, ab jo kar sakte ho karlo.” I was not fuming, since I knew that I had paid using an AmEx card. I just calmly told him, “Ye galat kar diya aapne. Agla phone aap hi karoge.”I made a complaint to AmEx, and also sent a documented complaint to ETA General. AmEx suspended the charge immediately, and concluded the investigation within 30 days. I got a refund for the whole amount.Meanwhile, ETA General responded by saying that they are taking legal action against the shopkeeper for maligning their image (refer point 5 in letter).I was right, and I was determined. It paid off.I now had the AC and my money. The shopkeeper came down, apologized, collected the AC, paid for my wall repair, paid an extra 5k for inconvenience and left. It was a harrowing experience, but I had the last laugh.That’s the power of having the blue box by your side :)

Me and my hubby both used to be be BOA customers.Freezing account with no warning. One day out of nowhere, they decide to completely freeze his accounts until he provides some documentation showing he is legally allowed to be here. No advance warning. No way to access funds. He’s always had a green card and legally been residing here for over 20 years. Eventually after several days he was able to unlock his account but it was incredibly inconvenient.Horrible home loan experience. I went through BOA to get a mortgage. I’m not sure what the average closing time is, maybe 30–45 days? It took Bank of America close to 2 months. They kept losing track of documents I sent them already. So I kept sending them the same things, 2–3 times, forwarding them emails I already forwarded them before. Re-faxing pages and pages of documents I had already faxed before. It was a horrible experience, and I almost lost the property because they were wondering what was taking so long and getting nervous I wouldn’t be able to secure the loan. After I finally secured the loan, they kept calling and emailing and sending me letters in the mail every month to refinance, even after telling them I was not interested.Horrible experience with credit card fraud incident. I was doing my annual yearly credit check when I found that my credit score had tanked. I looked into it, ended up being a victim of identity theft/credit fraud. I found that my oldest credit card from BOA had been forcibly closed by them. Someone opened a credit card under a different company (some retail company like sears or victorias secret), spent some money, and never paid the bill. I filed the police report, filed the other documents needed and got this cleared. I tried to reopen the BOA card that was forcibly closed (and mind you there was no balance on this card, they closed this because I had a ding on my credit for not paying the other fraudulent card I had no idea about). They wouldn’t let me reopen it, but I could open another credit card, even though I had explained what had happened, they had no empathy. That card had the longest running history (maybe over 10 years) , which messed up my credit for a few years. No other credit card (Chase/Amex) I had open at the time forcibly closed my account when the fraud happened.Just felt their customer service is lacking, they were unsympathetic in trying to resolve each case, or if they were empathetic they were lacking the skills (or maybe technology or authority from higher ups) to provide good service.
