That sounds to me like a recipe for KICK BACKS: To local law enforcement, to mayors and city council members, to city managers, TDLR administrators, TDLR attorneys, State Senators, Property Management companies, etc.In fact, if you request a towing OPEN RECORDS REQUEST with the City of Dallas, Texas, by law they are supposed to get it back to you in 3 weeks. So you can’t get years of data to attempt to see illegal towing trends such as a specific towing companies hitting a specific area of town or specific property at a certain hour of the night on a specific day of the week, and with a specific reason for the tow being initiated, etc.THERE IS NO DUE PROCESS in TEXAS, at least when it comes to non-consent towing. If a towing company wants to take your car, the State of Texas gives them license to take it immediately without notice to you. This is legalized theft. I told the mayor of Dallas that he was responsible for the tow of my car, and that the penalty for horse theft in Texas (I reminded the mayor) was hanging. He put 2-and-2 together and promptly sent 2 Dallas Police detectives to my door. They were cool. The mayor was just trying to harass me basically because I called him on the carpet for his misdeeds. It is his city after all, and Dallas gave the towing company a permit to operate.Many of the towing companies in Texas have 10’s of 1000’s of dollars in fines stacked up against them which TDLR allows them to payoff in small monthly installments. What a joke. Also, these convicted towing companies are supposed to have their TDLR license taken away after so many convictions, but this appears to be waived by the State of Texas.When your car is illegally towed without your consent in Texas, when you have a valid parking sticker and are parked legally otherwise, not only is your car being stolen, but everything in it: Your life sustaining prescription medications and oxygen tanks, your money and check book, your cell phone, your firearm and ammunition, etc. But the police will not help you. The city government won’t help you. The state government won’t help you. Your state senator won’t help you. The FBI won’t help you. You have to pay for a taxi to take you across town to fetch your car illegally taken from you.One thing Texas residents need to know is that both the State government and local City governments must license/permit towing companies. A TDLR licensed towing company can’t operate in Dallas until Dallas gives them a city permit.So both Texas and Texas municipalities are to blame.
