There are actually quite a few patron saints of lawyers. As noted in the first answer, St. Thomas More, who practiced law, is one of the patron saints of lawyers.In addition to St. Thomas More, there are a number of others.Among those who studied or practiced law there is first St. Ives, who is also known as St. Ivo of Kermartin, (1253 - 1303). He practiced law in both the civil and ecclesiastical courts and was known for his pro bono work for the poor. St. Ives was also a judge who set an example by refusing bribes. He was ordained to the priesthood, and left his legal practice in order to care for his parishioners full time.Another lawyer is St. Philogonius of Antioch who died in 324. He was married and a widower who apparently also was ordained as he became the patriarch (bishop) of Antioch in 319. St. John Chrysostom eulogized him with a beautiful homily.St. John of Capistrano (1386 - 1456) also studied and practiced law in what is modern day Naples, Italy. His efforts to broker a peace in a war between city states resulted in his imprisonment. During his time in prison, he felt a call to the priesthood. Although he had been married immediately before his imprisonment, the marriage had not been consummated. With the permission of his bride, the marriage was annulled. After ordination, he became an itinerant priest who preached to tens of thousands throughout Europe.The last lawyer in the group is St. Raymond of Penyafort (1175 - 1275). After studying law, he was ordained a priest and he joined the Dominican order. Called by Pope Gregory IX to Rome, he collected five volumes of letters written by the popes and helped write Church law. He was elected to head the Dominican order where he reviewed its rule and then resigned his position after only two years. He left to return to the parish work he loved. He was also interested in mission work, and helped start a school to help prepare missionaries. In addition, he worked with St. Thomas Aquinas to develop materials to help with mission work.The other patrons of lawyers include:St. Catherine of Alexandria (died c. 305) who was know for her debating skills and ability to persuade. She was an immensely popular saint in the Middle Ages in Europe.St. Genesius of Rome (died c. 303) who was an actor who after his sudden conversion was martyred.St. Lucy of Syracuse (died c. 283) who was martyred after she rejected her arranged marriage and was betrayed by the rejected bridegroom.St. Joseph, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a patron of workers.St. Mark who wrote the Gospel of St. Mark.St. Nicholas of Myra (died c. 346) who was a bishop and is the actual saint behind the legendary Santa Claus.

There's specific state houses maintained by the central government for every state where they show & preserve things from that particular state – they are named Bhavan, for example Punjab Bhavan.There are schools named after states, & ethnicities, specifically for the people (students) of that state, to read & preserve outside of their state, about their state & culture. In Delhi houses you can find Tamil-Bengali culture or Bihari-UP culture, Punjabi-Bengali culture coexisting. Soon this mixed culture may become a new culture of Delhi. “What are you giving up for Lent in 2019?”I’d probably be best described as a Catholic apikoros these days, but this question brought back some fond memories of my grade school when I was growing up in Illinois: St. Mark Catholic Church and School in Peoria. I went there from grades one through four, then transferred to the separate Diocesan gifted grade school (sadly, that program was dropped some years ago).I must have heard the question “What are you giving up for Lent” a hundred times each year! The answers separated us young Catholics into categories: the Sincerely Devout, the Worried and Guilty, and the Loophole Seekers.One of my sisters wavered between the first and second categories — she ended up joining a Franciscan order. (She’s now an Episcopalian.)As for my oldest sister and myself, we were definitely Loophole Seekers. We’d “give up” luxuries we were certain not to get anyway: Three Musketeer bars, chewing gum, chocolate shakes from Baskin-Robbins, steak dinners at restaurants (my parents were barely working class, if not working poor), and kittens (I’m allergic to cats). Ha! Any wonder both of us ended up as lawyers?Anyway, to answer the question, nothing this year. But I am enjoying the memories.
