PDF Editor FAQ
How does it feel to have a low IQ?
My parents never told me what my IQ was, they just said, ”You’re average.” I struggled in school for 12 years. Needed a lot of tutoring, especially in French and Algebra. I never did understand why they used numbers and letters in a Math course. So it didn’t surprise anyone that I got a score of 8 in the NY State Regents exam in Algebra. I tried to figure out how I only got an 8. So I calculated 6x2 - 2x3 + x4 = 8. No, the answer is actually freakin’ 7 and that’s why I got a freakin’ 8. (I didn’t say fuckin’, because I don’t swear), I graduated with dishonors from high school and started sending off college applications. To my surprise, I applied to 6 colleges and universities and got turned down by only 6 of them. One, Gannon College (now University), said that the janitor thought I was college material and suggested that I enter their summer program for borderline students. If I got a 1.67 taking three courses I would be accepted. I got a 1.67. Take that Einstein.Over the next four years I became the President of The American Marketing Association, Founding President of Pi Sigma Epsilon National Business Fraternity, Vice President of the Confraternty of Christian Doctrine for NW PA. I lost the Presidency of the Student Council by 4 votes. I later found out I won by four votes. Damn politics.I ended up with a BS in Marketing and two full minors in Philosophy and Economics. I received my diploma in one hand and my draft notice in the other. I got an early out from Vietnam to return to school. I entered the ECU school of art in Greenville, NC in 1970. I am a BFA candidate in Communications Art with a full minor in Painting. Candidate means I haven’t finished my requirements for my BFA. Mainly, I never did my senior show; but now that I am a true senior at 75 freaken’ years old, I plan on putting up my art show in 2020.The reason I didn’t do my show was because ECU tripled the tuition for out of state students and I was a struggling kid from NY going to school on the GI Bill at $175 a month. I had to work in NC for six months in order to become a resident. I found a 700 capacity nightclub that was closed and looking to re-open under new management. I got a large washer and threw it from the top of the club and hit the building across the street. I did the math (all by myself) and used my Marketing degree…girls dorm + nightclub = cha-ching. I convinced the owner that I knew what beer tasted like and what rock n’ roll sounded like, so I was his man. He said, “As long as you know what beer tastes like and what rock n’ roll sounds Iike you sould be happy to be paid a % of the net profit.”Thirty years and a week later the club, The Attic, closed. Playboy magazine picked the Attic as one of the Top 100 College Bars in the country. In the 70’s and 80’s we were the location for the National Rene Pierre Footsball Tournament and in 1981 we were selected to host the Pointer Sisters in a concert for the NBC TV show The Blue Jean Network. To watch a few songs from the concert go to You Tube and type in Pointer Sisters Attic. To read a couple chapters of my book “SNAFU - My Vietnam Vacation of 1969.” go to thebooksnafu.com.So in conclusion…fuck IQ’s. (Sorry, I mean F*uck IQ’s)NOTE: I was asked what I did with the rest of my working years. I switched from the live music business to the comedy industry. I headed to Charlotte NC in 1988 and joined the Comedy Zone chain of comedy clubs. I designed, and became part owner of the CZ club in Charlotte, NC, booked most of the headliner shows for the 41 clubs on the circuit. The Charlotte club hosted Jerry Seinfeld, Dennis Miller, Jeff Foxworthy, Chris Rock, Bill Maher, Steve Harvey, Ellen DeGeneres and about 80 other shows of similar quality. In the mid 90’s I joined the Carrot Top management team and co-managed Rodney Carrington. I wrote comedy for many touring comedians and, for a short time, was on the fax team of writers for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. I was also the senior instructor for the Stand-Up-Comedy Class for just short of a decade. What a 20 year fun and rewarding blast.NOTE # 2: I TOOK AN IQ TEST A FEW WEEKS AGO. MY SCORE WAS 123…which isn’t to bad considering that I’m 260% totally and permanetly disabled because of my exposure to Agent Orange while in Vietnam in ’69. I take 23 meds and needles a day, and I live in a permanent cognitive fog. I made 94 trips to the VA in a 15 month period. I’m currently on a long walk on a short pier. Having PTSD and depression doesn’t help. But, at the moment, I am six feet over, not six feet under. Stay safe. My family below.
I am interested in swords and would like to start a collection, how should I begin?
Well it depends on why you want to collect swords. I’m largely with Eric Lowe on this. If you just want something pretty to put up on the wall, just buy any stainless steel sword-shaped object and hang it up to admire.Me, I prefer arms that I can use. Even if they don’t get used all that often, I generally dislike wallhangers. The only time I’d really bother with one if it’s a historical piece that is unsafe to use, but I still want it for the history. That hasn’t happened yet, but I haven’t ruled out the possibility. So the way that I would, well, the way I did go about collecting swords is this. First I joined a HEMA club. After the first two months, I bought my first trainer, a Rawlings[1].I ended up buying the extended pommel for it, and I took that shitty rubber grip off and wrapped the tang in cord. As a byproduct of this process, the grip ended up being a bit thicker than normal, which I found more comfortable. This is how I learned that I have big damn hands, and prefer giant grips. Seriously, this is a thing I’m known for in my club, and even a bit outside it. I either get custom grips or enlarge them myself. After a while I saved up and bought a custom steel feder from Regenyei[2].These things seem to be the benchmark in my area. It took me months to convince him to make an oversized grip for me, and that I’m not just some crazy American with newfangled ideas, I knew exactly what I was asking him to do. If I understood his American rep Scott [3]correctly, while Regenyei has done plenty of custom work, nobody had ever asked him to do a custom grip like this. Go me.Eventually I started to learn a bunch of other swords as well, to include messer, saber, a bit of arming sword, etc. Finally I bought my first sword, a szabla [4](Polish saber).Frankly, I don’t recommend this one. The scabbard is poor, and the szabla just doesn’t feel all that, well, swordy in the hand. It runs about $240 USD, and I just don’t think it’s worth it.Then I bought a Crecy [5]from Albion[6].This is one of the more popular swords from Albion, but because apparently I just have to be weird, I’m also not 100% happy with it. Now, this is truly an excellent sword. My complaint has nothing at all to do with the quality. However, the blade is only 35.6″ and the grip with the pommel is only about 9″. I prefer a blade of 39.3″ (1 meter) and about 13″ of grip (33cm). Those are the dimensions of my Regenyei, and while that is unusually long, it’s not unheard of in historical swords. Some late era longswords did get about that long. That said, I got the Crecy at half price because someone I know was moving and just trying to get rid of excess property. For that price, I’m still happy I bought it, and she’s happy for the extra money. My latest sword is an 1845 Infantry Officers Saber that I bought from Matt Easton[7].It’s a Wilkinson, and Mr. Easton says it was purchased by one Captain Charles Heycock in 1860.I’m super pleased with it. My only complaint is, again, an undersized grip, but that is to be expected with swords of this era. It’s in excellent condition. I plan to finish polishing up the hilt and put an finished edge on it to use for test cutting at my club. All of the actual swords I own I know how to use, and all but the Wilkinson have been used for test cutting.Of course, I do have a list of swords I’d like to acquire, again all ones that I can use.I’d like to get a new szabla[8].I’d also like to get an 1845 Pattern Rifles Officer’s Saber. The blade is just like the 1845 I just got, but the guard is made of steel instead of brass.I like the look, and the idea of a steel guard, as it’s stronger than brass. Then there’s the Patterson 75 non-regulation saber.Another variation on the 1845, again with a steel guard, but made for the US Army and so with US markings.I’d also like to acquire two cavalry sabers. A 1796 Light Cavalry Saber. And an 1853 Light Cavalry Saber. It’s much like the 1821, but the grip is more comfortable to me.For longswords, I’m debating between the Baron [9]and the Archduke[10], both from Albion. The Baron is still just a smidge short for my taste, but my club has one and I like it. It’s very cutty. The Archduke is 41/14 blade and handle, so it’s a bit longer, but that might be good.I’d also like a messer, but I’m not sure what kind yet.So first I learned how to use swords, then I bought a bunch of different trainers, then I finally started buying real swords. And only those I know how to use. And that’s how I suggest you go about it.For more, read Swords are Fun!Original question-I am interested in swords and would like to start a collection, how should I begin?Footnotes[1] Knightshop Rawlings Synthetic Longsword[2] Regenyei Armory[3] Home - Hema Supplies[4] Szabla Husarska z okresu XVIII wieku kuta i hartowana do walki[5] The Crecy Medieval War Sword[6] Fine Handmade Collectable Limited Edition Museum Quality Medieval Swords[7] Antique swords, arms, militaria for sale in the UK[8] Szabla husarska typ 2 - Szabla Polska - repliki szabli polskich[9] The Baron War Sword[10] The ArchDuke 2-Handed Medieval Sword
Why did Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
I have already written an answer:Mohit Daga's answer to If Ronaldo makes the move to Juventus, would it be the resurgence that Serie A needs, and is it really a "new challenge" for him? What are your thoughts? Please have a look, because there is nothing more to say except-Cristiano Ronaldo-“These years in Real Madrid, and in this city of Madrid, have been possibly the happiest of my life.I only have feelings of huge thanks for this club, for this hobby and for this city. I can only thank all of them for the affection and affection I have received. However, I think the time has come to open a new stage in my life, and that's why I asked the club to accept me. I am so sorry and I ask everyone, and especially our followers, please understand me.It's been 9 years absolutely wonderful. It's been 9 unique years. It has been for me an exciting time, full of consideration but also hard because real madrid is of a very high demand, but I know very well that I can never forget that here I have enjoyed football in a unique way.I've had in the field and in wardrobe to some fabulous companions, I've felt the heat of an amazing hobby and together we have won 3 Champions in a row and 4 CHAMPIONS IN 5 years. And next to them, on an individual level, I am pleased to have won 4 GOLD BALLS AND 3 Gold boots. Everything during my stage in this huge and extraordinary club.Real Madrid has won my heart, and that of my family, and for that more than ever I want to say thank you: thanks to the club, to the president, to managers, to my colleagues, to all technicians, doctors, physiology and amazing workers That make everything work and that they are pending every detail tirelessly. Thanks infinite once again to our followers and thanks also to Spanish football. During These 9 years exciting I've been in front of great players. My respect and my recognition for all of them.I have thought a lot and I know the time has come for a new cycle. I'm leaving but this t-shirt, this shield and Santiago Bernabéu I'll keep feeling always like something mine is where I am.Thank you all and, of course, as I said that first time in our stadium 9 years ago: Hala Madrid!"He is NOT ARROGANT, and HE IS NOT SELFISH!Look at what he just said-He said it was his own decision. Wow.“I am so sorry and I ask everyone, and especially our followers, please understand me.”Just look at that! And why I am saying so is because there’s more to that than eyes meet.I have studied Cristiano Ronaldo, in a field of 22players, I have only looked for one.I have searched for his green boots, pink boots, white boots.I have looked for that sprinting style, that way of walking, those reactions, I have looked for the hairstyle, I have looked for his long legs, I have looked for the socks that end just above the knee and just below the pants, just a little gap. I have watched the left flank, I have watched the husstle in the box because of Ronaldo, I have watched him rising above EVERYBODY else only to head home.I HAVE ONLY WATCHED RONALDO all my years!Accept it or not, I couldn’t care less, but this move-This is a reaction! He was pushed away!Just one!Just one season!Just one slow start to a season! And even then,Bale+Benzema=51 goals/assistsRonaldo= 52!Top scorer yet again, everywhere for Real Madrid!EVERYWHERE!And why I am saying this is because-he has said countelss times-I’m going to retire at Madrid when I’m over 41. I’m very happy here and I work hard to achieve that.”Do you realise this situation? He never wanted to leave! He was just “no more wanted” by the President and some fans!Even in his farewell speech, he took upon himself that “its him, who has taken this decision” and I totally agree but there’s a story behind it which he didn’t say, because he LOVES MADRID. He doesn’t want to give a wrong impression of the club, he doesn’t want anyone to question his beloved club!MARCA: Cristiano wants a low-key exit from Real. He also does not want to sign a confidentiality clause that would prevent him in the future from giving his version of facts that, in his opinion, led him to leave Madrid when his real dream was to retire there.CdS: Florentino doesn't want to go down in history as the man responsible for selling Ronaldo & wants the player to announce he's leaving because he wants to. If this is done Perez won't increase his price.Cadena SER: Cristiano wants to leave & nothing will change his mind. He wants to go to Juventus where he felt loved after scoring the bicycle goal. There are so many links to all of these!I just don’t want to go about with this anymore.Perez is a great business man. And he couldn’t have find a better way to get away with this!BUT say what you want if Perez ever writes his autobiography, one chapter is going to be “How much I regret letting Ronaldo go!After all he has done, and he is doing(I will talk about this in an answer very soon) IF his worth is only $105M , I am more than happy he was allowed to leave!
