Preface: I wrote this rather hastily so please pardon any typos or grammar and underdeveloped thoughts. I have revised it since but I’m not really good at editing. As far as my answer is concerned, I’m sure I’m guilty of both overthinking and underthinking my answer.To answer this, we first have to understand what exactly the US Constitution is. The constitution:Represents Federal Laws,Lays out the jurisdictions of the Federal and State Governments,Lays the structure of the Federal and State Government,Lays out the Federal Government’s division of checks and balances such as the:the Legislative (Laws),Judicial Branch (Ethics, interpretation of current law, and preservation of Constitution’s intend function and thereby limiting the Legislative and Executive Branch),Executive Branch (The Presidential Cabinet)The Bill of Rights limits the government from infringing on individual freedoms and defines what those are.In short the Constitution is a document that lays out the US government and law. Without these attributes you could hardly define the US as a country. The US technically would cease from being a country.Assumptions in answering:Just the law disappeared so, in general the economy or the foundation of capitalism and the monetary system would remain.The branches of government are still present, at least the Executive and Legislative, but are not very clear on their job functions, duties, and limitationsOther countries remember their relationship with the US and that the US is indeed a countryOther countries also forgot and all records disappeared regarding the US ConstitutionState governments also lost their operating guidelines and constitutions and they too are simply unclear on their job functions, duties, and limitationsLawlessness:If this were all to just up and disappear then it would mean utter lawlessness and their would be no accountability. Naturally this would create devastating chaos in one form or another but how it would play out is the question. This could play out in a number of ways, depending on a number of factors and how far the disappearance of the US Constitution extends. We’re assuming that just the law disappeared here so the foundation of capitalism and the monetary system would remain. Are we assuming that the branches of government disappears as well? But this may have many other far reaching implications.Historical Perspective: Another FactorIt is important to note that if the constitution was wiped from history then it’s influences may also be wiped. The US revolution inspired other countries (then colonies or territories) to also rebel in favor of an independent system of self governance. Also, many other democratic/republic governmental formations were heavily influenced by the US Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. So if we are assuming the disappearance of the US Constitution, then are we also assuming the disappearance of it from its influences in history or similar documents inspired or quoting the US Constitution? If so, then the disappearance of the US Constitution could also have the effect in causing other international governments systems may also fall apart.General Scenario: Chaos!Social/Political:Every branch of government in the USA is heavily ingrained in this system. If it were to just disappear, then everyone would be left without law or rights the average person would be at the mercy to those in power and influence, assuming they still remembered their jobs and positions. Naturally, even these people would still have their conscience still that would keep them from doing anything too rash, at least at first, but if, for example, they were pro X-Legislation, they would have biases toward that regard and would act accordingly in their power as their conscience dictates and there would be no legal methods to stop them.It stands to reason that there would be others who were Anti-X-Legislation and Pro Y-Legislation. If the Executive branch remained in control of the military they could impose a marshal law and maintain control. Resistance would ensue and there would be chaos as the people struggle to restructure the government and put a stop to others taking their freedoms and liberties. The military leaders may rebel against the Executive Branch and side with the people, because after all they all have ties by way of family to other citizens. Or the military may realize that because they hold the guns, therefore they have the power and attempt to usurp power.Among the chaos, citizens will have to chose sides. People with common beliefs will culminate together and stand united against common enemies and slowly make compromises with other groups, but not without any conflict, and unite in common goals, if not philosophies and fight their opposition until they established a state or country of their own, whether it looks like the old US or not.Law:By necessity communities will need to create their own form of local government and law. With resources being low, law enforcement will likely be harsh as the communities will not be able to support a large prison population. Plus, crimes that were once considered to be petty will become more serious as, theft of one's food, for example, may mean life or death for the victims. Capital punishment will become more necessary. What little prisoners there might be, may be used as unpaid-laborers for the duration of their sentence.Infrastructure:By in large, the State Governments are responsible for the maintenance of the US’s internal public infrastructure. Federal funds are granted to the States for certain things like interstate highways but he State manages the maintenance and by-in-large takes care of most infrastructure. Clean water, sanitation and sewage would be a major priority in maintaining. The next one would be roads and traffic lights and street lights. The governments would need to recreate the system of taxation in order to keep these things maintained. Military and/or State National guard units may have to be deployed in order to ensure that the infrastructure is kept up properly for local county or city governments that have issues maintaining their part.Water:Depending on the region and whether, if water and sanitation had issues, people would suffer from diseases and other hygiene related issues not to mention die from thirst. Assuming the agriculture did not have access to private water turns and wells and relied on public water sources, crops and livestock would die off and famine would ensue.Roads and Transportation:Roads and rail are imperative to an economy and must be maintained. If goods can’t be transported via ground then the economy will suffer and cities may be deserted or destroyed by violence. Roads also offer better support for military and military deployment.Fuel:Fuel is a critical component of the economy as well as the infrastructure. Particularly for construction and maintenance equipment and transportation of goods. Commutes for laborers can be consolidated but the latter cannot.Power:Modern societies are heavily dependent on power for food preservation and preparation. A given economy is also very dependent on power to operate tools, machinery and other equipment not to mention computers, lighting heating and A/C. Power plants in the US are largely privately operated and heavily regulated. They generally require heavy maintenance of both the plants and the grids.Communication:Phone, internet, satellite, Point-to Point Microwave and other forms of communication are pivotal to the modern economy. If communication systems fail then the country will be far less productive and slower to react to emergency situations.—Infrastructure Conclusion:Economy and infrastructure are heavily interdependent and currently governments regulate much of this, if not directly responsible. If one fails then the other may also. If by-in-large the infrastructure fails then there will be much violence as people become desperate for survival and learn to adapt. Eventually, people will gather together in smaller communities and attempt to support their own needed infrastructure. Essentially, they will be cut off from other communities. If infrastructure fails then the US will probably degenerate into a 3rd world -post-apocalyptic country.Economic:We may assume that the power players may also be the rich as the legal system has failed but the foundation of capitalism and their monetary system would remain so they may have the most power and influence. The old rich may not be same as the new rich. Arguably the monetary system may fail altogether, implying that the finance (banking, stocks, securities, investments, bonds, etc) sector will be rendered completely useless, and imports/exports will drastically lessen and internal agriculture, industry, and transportation of goods would shift to become the primary driving force in the economy with a barter and trade system or precious metals as coinage. Of course, it could take a slightly different direction and the US may increase imports and become dependent on other nations as they recoup, especially if the government took a more oppressive or dictating role. People taking advantage of this new economical system or facilitating it may become more powerful and rich than the old rich and powerful were. It would serve to the advantage of the rich to have some form of government they can control, so among these power plays, these rich may be the leaders spearheading the formation of a new government.If the monetary system collapses then, there would be a demand to reform it. Arguably, even if it didn’t crash, while the US is reforming the government some may seek this opportunity to reform the economy into a more socialistic/communistic system and/or reform the State and Federal Revenues. No doubt, this will be a hot topic but many may want to leave well enough alone and not break what ain't broken so to speak. This may be the major dividing factor in the conflict.Religious:Historically, in times of chaos and change many religious fence sitters will turn to faith for comfort, community, identity and hope. Also during time like these, many religions will say that this is a fulfillment of prophecy and there will be many new religions/cults born and people claiming to be prophets and messiah as foretold. There will be those saying that this is ‘the end of days’ or the dawn of the apocalypse. When people believe that the apocalypse is near, they tend to behave in an extreme fashion. They will be less tolerant and more likely to . Other religions will professInternational:What would happen to the imports and exports of goods and services? What about trade agreements with other nations? Diplomacy, allies, and other relations?If the monetary system failed, then the country's creditors will not be very happy. They may demand compensation and attempt to collect but not being able to, relations would suffer.Dealing with so many internal matters, the US would most likely shift their focus inward and neglect international relationships causing further conflict. It may ultimately lead to WWIII.If exports become hindered by the chaos, then nations that depend on US exports will become economically weakened until they are able to find alternative sources for their goods or services. Because the US has been economically and politically weakened, it stands to reason that so will their military. Also, the US allies would have been likewise weakened, their enemies may take advantage of their more dependent allies and attack them. The US and it’s allies would be very vulnerable for attack.……In short, chaos, possible civil war, and likely WWIII. Or lots and lots of death.
