What is the worst delivery experience you've ever had?

I ordered a refrigerator from Sears.I was looking to update the appliances in the kitchen. I had bought a Samsung stove and microwave that matches it. I also bought a matching dishwasher. I bought them at Lowe’s, which is about an hour drive from where I live. I had all of the appliances I bought within 72 hours.However, they didn’t have the refrigerator that I wanted.This is the model I wanted. That middle drawer… it has its own temperature control. You can use it as a freezer or refrigerator drawer. You can set the temperature to the exact degree you want that drawer to be.That… is what I decided I wanted.I went online looking for the refrigerator, looking for the best price, and the quickest delivery.I went to Sears surplus online. On that site, you are shown appliances and where they will be shipping them from.I found the refrigerator at a Kansas City location. Wonderful! 82 miles away!!It was on Sale!!! The images of it shows a small dent on the left side toward the back.I was fine with that, it wouldn’t show, and it did not impact the functioning of the appliance.I bought it.A couple hours later, I received a confirmation email. Thank you for your purchase of model #…blah…blah…blah.I was joyous! I was soon to have what I considered to be the coolest refrigerator!!2 weeks later, I was losing my patience. I was waiting… and waiting…No refrigerator had shown up as yet.I called customer service. Ugh.After 45 minutes on hold… I was told that it was being shipped, that I should have it in the next couple of days.Fine.3 days later, no refrigerator. I called again. I was told that it should be arriving at the Sears store 30 miles from my home later that day, then they would have a local delivery person bring it to my home. (Did I mention I live out in the country?)I waited all that day, and most of the next day. It’s amazing how few there are to find.I didn’t want to talk to their customer service… they lied to me.I decided I would find corporate phone numbers. I found several.I began calling them.I spent 8 hours making calls. I would be put on hold… transferred… disconnected… twice hung up on.I simply called back. I was on a mission.At the end of that day, I had talked to 28 people. I was told I would hear first thing in the morning what time I could expect my refrigerator to arrive.I didn’t get a call the first thing the next morning.By 11am I decided that it was time to begin the calls again, and that every single person I spoke with would understand just how irritated I was, and that if they did not resolve the issue, then they would be AT LEAST as irritated as I was.By 2:30 pm, I had put one woman in tears, had 3 people so frustrated that they were losing their cool, and was working on the 5th person.She snapped. She was the shipping coordinator, or whatever the position is that verifies shipment. She began yelling, calling me everything but nice, which struck me as pretty comical.Once she was done, I said “Ma’am, I’m sorry if you are offended, but you are not the one that has been waiting for a month for a refrigerator. I have been calling, and been lied to repeatedly. I simply decided that today was the day that every single person I spoke with would understand in some shape or form just how irritated I am. You’re there. You clearly feel the exact amount of frustration I feel. Now… you can either resolve this, or I promise, that feeling will not improve.”She told me I was a bitch. I then started looking up phone numbers. I came up with one of the VP’s number.I made the call. I vented. I could either keep what I had, or they would give a refund.My mother decided she saw nothing wrong with the refrigerator, so I kept it.However, in retaliation… I put my skills to use.I do online marketing, and marketing automation. I created a 5 year campaign. Every holiday, an automated email is sent to as many people with Sears as I found email addresses for. (about 50)For example; on Christmas last year, they received what looks like a christmas card. It said, Merry Christmas. My Christmas would be much merrier if I had the right refrigerator!For the last 2 years I have been incredibly vocal about what I think about Sears. I am just as vocal with them as to what I think about them.It’s not a bad refrigerator.But it’s not what I purchased, so I glare at it.

What is the function of the fruit/vegetable humidity lever in the refrigerator drawers? Is it a gimmick, or does it actually do something?

No its not supposed to be a gimmick. In theory, these drawers are sealed a little better with some models sporting a damper assembly.There are air currents within refrigerators as the fridge section STEALS air from the freezer and pushes into the fridge. Fruits, vegetables, celery etc. are seldom packaged and air currents directly hitting them will dry them out. These crisper drawers protect them from the air currents but they still stay cold.
