Why does the value of a car dip immediately after purchase? What are ways to limit the total depreciation of a car over the years?
Reading through the current answers, none of them hit on the real reason why vehicles take a big depreciation hit immediately after purchase. There are 3 reasons I’ll be discussing and the main reason that most people don’t even know. The main reason is because someone bought the vehicle cheaper than you. Yes, yes, you haggled, bartered, negotiated your wits out to get the best price possible, and you probably did. I’m sure you even did your research and went to many different dealerships to compare and see who would cut their margins the most. But unfortunately, someone out there still bought the vehicle cheaper than you. Think of rental car companies, government agencies, large corporations that buy vehicles, all of them are buying the vehicle for $1k-$12k less than you. That is your first main reason.Second reason, the vehicle you bought it based off your personal preferences. That magnetic gray color you wanted, the dark leather interior you wanted, the added sun roof, the trim level, when you bought the vehicle you got to choose out of the 100’s of vehicles out there exactly what you wanted. Will the next buyer want all those exact options? Probably not, therefore, the price of the vehicle will drop due to demand.Third reason, dealer markup, taxes, and fees. Usually, when people buy a vehicle, they are not getting the ACTUAL cost. Dealers have to make a profit and will hit you with as many absurd charges as you’ll let them. Doc fees, origination fees, dealer prep, S&H, shipping, etc. All these add to the upfront cost of the vehicle. That vehicle that should’ve cost you $25k out the door has become $26k and didn’t increase the value of the vehicle whatsoever. As far as limiting the depreciation cost of a car over the years you need to understand what brings down the value of a vehicle. Your 3 biggest items to bring down it’s value are model year (year after year, the vehicle losses value no matter what), miles, and condition.First, in order to limit the loss in value on the model year, you want to sell the vehicle before the new model year lands at dealerships. For example, today is Sep 16, 2019, and for certain vehicles, 2020’s have landed at the dealership. If you can sell your 2016 vehicle before the new 2020’s land at the dealership, will be perceived as only 3 years old, and not 4 years old. Generally, there are certain times of the year that will give you greater value on the resale. If you can time the market, you can generate an additional $300-$700 on resale. Best times to sell a vehicle are Aug-Oct, Mar-May.Second, in order to limit your mileage on your vehicle, you have to take a different mindset to own a vehicle. On average, for every 1,000 miles you put on a vehicle, it will cost you $100 or lose $100 in value. So you have to think for every 10 miles I drive, it will cost me 10 cents/mile. This part drives my wife crazy because every time she wants to go visit family, friends, go on a drive, etc, I calculate what it will cost us. This helps us be more efficient in driving the vehicle and put less miles on it. In other words, put less miles on your vehicle and start walking and biking more. :)And last is the condition of the vehicle. Of course, you want to do your scheduled maintenance, keep the vehicle clean and free of salt, etc. On top of the no brainer items, I would keep good accurate records of everything you do to the vehicle. If you can produce records to the next user, it will put their mind at ease and give you a stronger value. Also, before selling your vehicle, get a pre-sale inspection done at a shop and detail the vehicle top to bottom. This will command and even bigger resale and lower your overall depreciation cost. You can also view my answer here where I go into greater detail of lowering your total cost of ownership and not just depreciation.Trevor Banks's answer to In general, is it worth trying to maintain a vehicle that has more than 100,000 miles or are you better off with a newer car?Good luck!Trevor
How can we interpret general theory of relativity?
Believe it or not it can be interpreted using two magnetic fields using unequal coils and applying the relativistic conception shown in Einsteins paper whereby in making the comparison between the magnet and a coil in relative movement to one another, he makes the following observation in his 1905 paper ON THE ELECTRODYNAMICSOF MOVING BODIESTake, for example, the reciprocal electrodynamic action of a magnet and a conductor. The observable phenomenon here depends only on the relative motion of the conductor and the magnet, whereas the customary view draws a sharp distinction between the two cases in which either the one or the other of these bodies is in motion. For if the magnet is in motion and the conductor at rest, there arises in the neighbourhood of the magnet an electric field with a certain definite energy, producing a current at the places where parts of the conductor are situated. But if the magnet is stationary and the conductor in motion, no electric field arises in the neighbourhood of the magnet. In the conductor, however, we find an electromotive force, to which in itself there is no corresponding energy, but which gives rise—assuming equality of relative motion in the two cases discussed—to electric currents of the same path and intensity as those produced by the electric forces in the former case. For my investigations instead of a magnet I used another coil. Now in regard to movement between the two stationary sources the coils do not move, but their respective magnetic fields do move as Lenz law reactions between cause and effect. To interpret Einstein here each of these resistive forces experienced from the causitive moving side will be equal and opposite, irrespective as to which side is used for the causitive magnetic field movement. [2019;re-edit, A tremendous error in my research into resonant energy transfer has occurred here as I had subconsciously assumed that the magnetic action would be analogous to gravitational ones. In gravitational laws the forces between unequal masses are identical or symmetrical on each object but their respective accelerations towards each other will not because of differing m values in the F= ma equation. Let us then continue the Einstein analogy where instead of a magnet as the causitive magnetic field made with relative movements; that we instead explore the actions of a energized coil in movement towards an unequal shorted coil. In this case then the lenz law reaction coming from a large coil should be greater then that of a small one; and thus the resistance to motion between the two examples forces will be not, where I had formerly indicated that they were identical in terms of amperage inputs from a reference voltage. By then substituting an alternating voltage in time to accomplish the former spatial movement of magnetism we see the same effect and we then also have unequal amperage inputs. In these resonantly coupled magnetic laws the induced voltages between unequal inductances are NOT identical or symmetrical on each inductance but their respective power transfers towards each other will not because of differing L values in the V=L*di/dt equation. What this equates to is the fact that the output amperages from either side of input application will be identical; irrespective of the resistance and inductance of the receiving coil.] What this further implies is that the reaction forces caused by the 90 degree action of Lenz law from the components on either side of application will be equal. Nothing could be further from the truth.[here is where I had things backwards; the inputs are unbalanced but the outputs are not; so it is the truth]I think I must be the first to demonstrate the fallacy of what the Einsteinian theorists and proponents propose to declare as a consequence of what is called reciprocity. According to this precept arrived at by logic of thinking that it does not matter which part moves and which part receives the energy brought from the cause of the movement; this somewhat sacred concept can be explored between two unequal size coils. Now essentially the REASON time dilation is always brought forth as experimental evidence of relativity is supposedly that no evidence exists to the contrary whereby a reciprocal demonstration could be attained to show how the moving observer will experience his (dilated from stationary reference pt.) TIME with reference to that of the stationary TIME. Again the theorists declare he will also see another dilation of time with reference to his own. So essentially no one has measured an elongated time with respect to dilated time for the simple reason that we must first go down the rabbit hole existing in “Alice in Wonderland” and then we must make a communication to the outside world from that world of compressed time, and then our notes may be compared. Again to elaborate in order to measure an elongation of time we must first have a method to dilate time and then secondly we must have a method to have energy from the dilated time reference point to be sent back to us for comparisons of the two reverse sendings of causitive energy transfers. In fact everybody is right and no contradictions exist, only misconceptions of what is being said by Einstein, and how it has been misinterpreted by later Einsteinian theorists. If these two coils are resonated in separate space they will have UNEQUAL energy inputs expressed by their respective amperage conductions from a voltage source reference point. If we then bring these coils together in space so that energy can be sent from either coil to the other, we find that those apparent energy inputs expressed as the voltage reference point sending a certain amount of amperage will be ~EQUAL, or symmetrical. In other words the apparent energy input being sent as a causitive effect from either side will be symmetrical or identical. However upon examination of the energy transfers between those coils we find that a reciprocality exists. Many folks are aware of the missing energy argument whereby when one capacitor is connected in parallel to another equal one, the energy measured after the transfer is only half. Like the elongation of time with reference to a dilated one, the reverse scenario is never discussed or shown. I was able to show that reverse scenario but a catch 22 exists in the demonstration. We do not know how synchronicity exists from the outside world in or vice versa. But nevertheless the outside world can reflect the internal one and vice versa. The concept of a flux capacitor as I defined it and worked with the principle over 20 years ago showed two opposing results and even a third before the principle was applied. In the third movie of back to the future, the supposed Emmet Brown as the inventor of the flux capacitor dies on a date on a tombstone, which is the date of Sept 7th, 1885. I was born 70 tears later as a descendant of the Brown family. The flux capacitor is a spatially reacted resonance whereby each magnetic and electric vessel containing resonant energy transfer is placed at right angles to one another in the same space. This came into reality for experimentation as a concentric axial capacity that could be placed inside its resonating magnetic field using a frequency attainable from a car alternator. Now if the central capacity is connected in one direction its counterpart magnetic field will oppose the counterpart outside magnetic field, or in the reverse scenario it will aid it. Now in noting the scenario here in the passing of energy from a large coil to a small one and vice versa via the agent of a moving magnetic field; unless the reactances on each sending agent have been cancelled practically no energy will be transferred between the components. Once this has been done however now we have the two magnetic fields being used to convey the energy between the capacities. The large coil will have a small capacity in series, and conversely the small coil will have a larger capacity in comparison to its counterpart as a ratio. If we attempt to send the energy from the smaller capacity to the larger one using the equal reactance intermediary magnetic fields as the transfer agent, we find that in the course of this energy transfer in going from a smaller to a larger container, energy is lost in the transfer exactly like the shared capacity analogy whereby a smaller capacity converted to a larger one made by paralleled connections that seemingly seems to loose energy. If in retrospect we reverse this scenario and send the energy in reverse we find that the energy transfer made from the perspective of that sending agent is expanded, and those ratios between sending agents are indeed reciprocals of each other.Somewhat hilariously we can apply the same methodology used in relativity to examine what should be equivalent energy transfers between the components, and then alter the TIME component ratios for both sides so that things equal out. Thus by using two senders of magnetic fields using two different time ratios to one another for comparisons of equality both the dilation of time with respect to the stationary viewpoint can be shown; along with its counterpart elongation of time shown by the reverse scenario with respect to it’s perceived dilation of time made by the first observations viewpoint. Now the viewpoints have been made symmetrical in both inputs and outputs of energy transfer in time as the Einstein theorists declare as the absolute truth of the matter, but in order for this to occur two different time frames are compared IN BOTH DIRECTIONS OF OBSERVATIONS conducted in time. Thus by using two unequal coils sending energy to each other in time, and then changing the progression of time on each component so that symmetry is achieved, we find that by achieving this symmetry to one another in effects noted by the cause and effects being identical energy transfers in time by theory only; is only that which is a theory. We cannot expect something which is merely a theory to be the truth of the matter until that theory is proven, where here Einstein states in his paper; “We will raise this conjecture (the purport of which will hereafter be called the “Principle of Relativity”) to the status of a postulate, and also introduce another postulate, which is only apparently irreconcilable with the former,” In accordance with this thinking then the theory becomes a postulate when a demonstration of the theory may be made which elevates the theory to a postulate to explain the observed effects. Here in this discourse then we may observe the energy transfer from one side to another side whereby supposed time dilation effects occur from the original observation side’s observations, and if this can be shown in a demonstration then we may elevate the theory to a postulate. In this regard then a noble gas load placed upon the recipient large coil displaying time in a dilated form with regard to the sending of frequency in time by its causitive primary effect does display a compression of time on it’s outputs. It displays this compression of time by viewing the noble gas discharge powered by the large coil displaying time dilation through a digital camera, where now because of apparent time differences between the systems what is viewed as a solid discharge is shown by the camera to be a much slower on and off discharge; due to the differences of frequency between those systems due to time dilation seen by one end of the observation post. Because these things are now presented with no evidence, I will have to act like Doc Emmet Brown and return to the future to display my evidence.
What are some interesting facts about Nazi Germany?
Nazis were, no doubt, one of the most hated people on Earth, but they also did a few good things.Nazis were animal loversThere was widespread support for animal welfare in Nazi Germany among the country's leadership. Adolf Hitler and his top officials took a variety of measures to ensure animals were protected. Many Nazi leaders, including Hitler and Hermann Göring, were supporters of animal rights and conservation.Animal welfare in Nazi Germany - WikipediaNazis created AutobahnJust days after the 1933 Nazi takeover, Adolf Hitler enthusiastically embraced an ambitious autobahn construction project. By 1936, 130,000 workers were directly employed in construction, as well as an additional 270,000 in the supply chain for construction equipment, etc. In rural areas, new camps to house the workers were built near construction sites. The autobahns formed the first limited-access, high-speed road network in the worldAutobahn - WikipediaNazis were the first to ban smokingThe German movement was the most powerful anti-smoking movement in the world during the 1930s and early 1940s. Nazi leaders condemned smoking and several of them openly criticized tobacco consumption. There was much research on smoking and its effects on health during Nazi rule, and it was the most important of its type at that time. The Nazi anti-tobacco campaign included banning smoking in trams, buses, and city trains, promoting health education, limiting cigarette rations in the Wehrmacht, organizing medical lectures for soldiers, and raising the tobacco tax.Anti-tobacco movement in Nazi Germany - WikipediaNazis gave us VolkwagenIn 1934, Adolf Hitler became involved with the Volkswagen project, ordering the production of a basic vehicle capable of transporting two adults and three children at 100 km/h (62 mph). He wanted all German citizens to have access to cars. The "People's Car" would be available to citizens of the Third Reich through a savings plan at 990 Reichsmarks (equivalent to €3,747 in 2009)—about the price of a small motorcycle (the average income being around 32 RM a week).Volkswagen - WikipediaNazis influenced fashionThe Nazi style of uniform was as bold as their style of government. Thick-soled leather boots, slouch hats, cowhide coats, and peak hats were some of the staples in Nazi fashion, as well as muted color tones often in gray, tan and black. The SS Panzer military organization struck fear into the hearts of their adversaries, with black forage caps and leather coats which were later adopted by American rockers. Doc Martens closely resemble the jump boots that many SS officers wore.Nazis introduced new filming techniquesThe Nazis were very interested in both film and music as propaganda techniques and essential cultural pillars. The first known magnetic tape recording was of a speech made by Hitler, and Joseph Goebbels pushed for more complicated methods of filming.Source:Listverse: Top 10 Things The Nazis Got RightInternet
