Do you know what is the capital of New York State?You might say it’s the ever exciting, ever bustling New York City.But you would be wrong. Instead it’s super boring Albany. They even have an website called Keep Albany BoringWhat’s the capital of California? Must be one of its great cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles or San Diego?Nope, instead it’s Sacramento. And yaah, there’s nothing to do there. You tuck your kids in and go to bed by 9.Steven Colbert recently did an interview where he argued that Sacramento is boring. I agree Steve!What’s the capital of Florida? Miami? Orlando? Tampa? Ft. Lauderdale?Nope, instead it’s the town of Tallahassee, inhabited by only 180,000 people. And you guessed it right, there is nothing much to do there after 7:30.7.30 AM I meant. And you thought PM? 7:30 PM it’s dracula land.What about Pennsylvania? Must the city of brotherly love, Philly?Nope, instead it’s Harrisburg, in the middle of nowhere. A tiny itty bity town of 8 sq miles.You say Nevada, I say Vegas! You say Nevada, I say Vegas! But if you say Vegas as an answer to “What is the capital city of Nevada?” then you would be wrong. The correct answer will be - yaah you guessed it wrongly, nope not even Reno. Rather Carson City.55,000 people live there. Yaah 55 THOUSAND. Let me quote this interesting excerpt about Carson City from Wikipedia: “There is almost no ground public transportation to other cities. Passenger train service stopped in 1948. Greyhound Lines stopped bus service there in 2006. Amtrak stopped their bus to Sacramento in 2008. Greyhound and Amtrak have busses to Reno, Monday to Friday.”Well, so if you want desolation at a capital city, Carson City is the place to be.Finally, let’s talk about Vermont. I am not gonna give you any other town names, because I am sure you have never heard of them. Rather let me present to you the town of Montpelier. A town of 7855 people. And the only interesting thing Wikipedia has to say about it is “The Vermont State House has a golden dome”.In general, most US state capitals are boring, small towns.-SaGa
