Tampere is traditionally a working class town. One of it’s nicknames is “Manse(steri)”, a reference to Manchester, England. There are factories in the very centre of the town. Tampere has always traditionally leaned left on the political spectrum. While Marshal Mannerheim is considered a hero elsewhere in Finland, in Tampere he is referred to as “lahtari”, a butcher. This is a derogatory term for the whites in the Finnish Civil War. The University of Tampere has been traditionally the most leftist of the Universities in Finland. It’s journalism school is infamous for producing reporters with a perceived leftist bias.If you prefer bourgerois athmosphere, you should move to Turku, the old capital instead. The new capital, Helsinki, is somewhat divided on the political issues.One thing to consider is the climate. Tampere is an inland city with scorching hot summers and Siberia-like harsh winters. This comes as a shock for a Finn from the coast, so I’d imagine it’s an even bigger shock for a foreigner.

Because they are living in one, and deep inside, they know it. Life is revealed in story. Stories speak to all areas of the mind: logic, imagination, intuition, emotions, etc. They are a way of putting principles and concepts into context more easily relatable and understood.Once upon a time a flying object people could ride was a myth. They are adventures and we are explorers. They are fantasy, and we are fantastic. They are teachers and we are students. Myths connect us to all times in relatable ways.We are living in one because this world, this dimension we live in is a story of how universal life force, or Consciousness plays out when it is slowed way down in frequency. We are deeply feeling what it is like to have Consciousness perceptually distorted. We are living many stories that provide us the opportunity to claim our truth and reconnect with our own expansiveness. In reality, we are in no way confined as it appears we are here. On a deep level, we all know this to be true.Read beyond this point at own risk:Life on Earth is hit and myth. We journey forward beyond all myth-understanding and find ourselves in the clearing at the end of the tunnel. We eagerly move into life's deeper myth-steries, and learn by our myth-stakes. We myth-behave and myth-calculate, but we never ultimately myth the point. We can become myth-creants, or perform myth-conducts along the way, but we eventually learn by it all. The bottom line is, we wouldn't myth it for the world. We climb many stories to reach the top floor.

What you would deem necessary for an excursion into the rainforest, would be very different that what would be necessary for a wine tour through Italy. Saves space and weight in your bag. I’ve had mine for 2 years, continually wear them, and they still look new.Electronic copies of all important information. I’ve seen many recommendations where people recommend paper copies, and I don’t agree. Who wants to carry around a folder with a bunch of paper that could get stolen, lost, or wet? Then what? Instead of making photocopies, take a picture with your smartphone (make sure they are clear and detailed) and save it to Google Drive. If you don’t have a smartphone with a good camera, head to FedEx office or your local library and create scanned images that you can send to yourself in .pdf format. The kind people at both locations can show you how if you are unfamiliar. If you have a Gmail account, you have free access to Google Drive. Or you can signup for free. There is enough free storage space included to store all the .pdf’s of this important information. By loading them to Google Drive, you can access copies of your important information anywhere with an internet connection, at any time. And even if you don’t have internet, there is an option with Google Drive to save offline copies of the files to your smartphone, computer or tablet. I recommend doing this for your passport, drivers license, credit cards, debit cards, travel insurance, hotel reservation information, airline tickets, train tickets, tour reservation confirmations, and important phone numbers.3 in 1 - Powerbank, speaker, flashlight. This 3–1 travel accessory is incredible. It functions as a powerbank to charge your portable electronics, is also a travel sized speaker to play your music anywhere, and is a flashlight when you need it. This thing is the epitome of a multi-functional travel accessory.Re-usable water bottle and Steri-pen. I don’t leave anywhere without these two items. If you are traveling to a destination with drinkable tap water, using a re-usable water bottle helps you save money by not needing to buy a bunch of plastic bottled water. And, it helps the environment as you are not needlessly contributing to plastic pollution because you can endlessly refill your water bottle with great, clean tap water! If you are traveling to a country with less than ideal (non-potable) tap, I highly recommend the Steri-pen. It uses UV light to sterilize water, making it safe to drink. The model I have takes 90 seconds to sterilize 1 liter of water (your average re-usable Nalgene water bottle). Armed with these two items you have access to clean water, while being environmentally friendly by not buying a bunch of prepackaged plastic water bottles.An open mind! I know that this sounds dumb and cliche, but I think its very important. You could have this dream vacation planned, and something can go wrong. Or your destination doesn’t live up to pre-planned expectations. Or your booked hotel is grungy and run-down and you were expecting something nicer. There are so many variables to account for while leaving home, and the best antidote is an open mind and senses of adventure! I think the unknown of traveling is a huge part of the fun!
