PDF Editor FAQ

What kind of operating system could be created by one person?

Design and Implementation: Amazon.co.uk: Andrew S Tanenbaum, Albert S Woodhull: 9780135053768: BooksThis book describes how the precursor to Linux - Minix - was built.I’ve used Minix, back in I think 1991 (but memory fails me).It fit on a single 3.5 inch floppy disk, booted up onto a 286 PC and provided as much Unix as I wanted - basic commands like ls and so on.I believe it is the work of the sole author of the book, used to illustrate the computer science concepts behind operating system internals.Personally, I’ve worked on a small embedded system where my (then) boss had written a preemptive multitasking scheduler on 8051. It supported a primitive form of message passing between 8 tasks, which could run in priority order. That sort of thing is quite achievable.Obviously, something like Windows 10 or even modern Linux - forget it. You won’t be doing that alone.

Can someone give me a priority order for these MBBS colleges Seth Gs , Grant, KGMU, BHU, CMC Vellore, AIIMS (except Delhi)?

All colleges are amazing and there isn’t much difference as far as Academics would be concerned. The only difference they’ll have is far as PG entrance is concerned, bond and where they are located which in turn might determine the kind of college life you have.BHUPros - Internally PG reservations and no Bond.Cons- It’s in Varanasi which an amazing city but pales in comparison to the likes of Mumbai and Lucknow.Seth GSPros- Best academics out of these in my opinion and amazing hospital in the form of KEM. Also, Mumbai!Cons - 1 year bond and Mumbai can be both pro and a con if you don’t like the big city and the expenses that come with it.CMC VelloreI’ll advise against it considering the bond and also it’s located down south so you must learn how to speak Tamil. Also it’s private so higher fees!KGMUThe perfect balance between a small town and large in the form of Lucknow and good academics. But a huge disadvantage in the form of 2 years bondOther AIIMSNo PG reservation and the fact they are not located in good cities except for Bhopal and probably Bhuvneshwar makes other options much better. And these two along with Rishikesh/Jodhpur are the only one worth choosing. Patna still doesn’t have a admission for PG .There is one advantage though. No bond and lowest fees. Also, the AIIMS tag helps for USMLE purpose! So, choose wisely!

Can a white, affluent male be the victim of discrimination?

Yes, of course.I am white and male. And if not “affluent” exactly, certainly decently well-off.And no, this is not about to turn into a pathos-inducing anecdote of a time I was discriminated against. I haven’t been, so far as I’m aware. I’ve been treated pretty fairly in life, and I have no reason to think that the times I haven’t have been because of being white, male, or affluent. But I could be. The question isn’t about frequency or probability, but about possibility. And there are two critical reasons why I easily could be discriminated against.First, as any self-consistent advocate of modern social justice theory would have to acknowledge, I’m not just white, male, and affluent.I’m also fat.I’m also autistic.I’m also a nerd.I’m also a conservative in a Blue State (one of the bluest in the nation). The fact that I’m white, male, and affluent may very likely “cushion the blow” of any discrimination that I may hypothetically suffer on any of those grounds—but it doesn’t make it somehow not discrimination. If “intersectionality” is going to be a thing, it has to be a thing even for white, affluent males. Otherwise it’s rank hypocrisy.Second, “critical” theory notwithstanding, anyone who claims that a white person can’t be discriminated against for being white or a male for being male or a wealthy person for being wealthy is simply ignorant or lying.Oh, don’t get me wrong, I may not agree but I know many people who might sincerely and intelligently argue that such forms of discrimination are simply not a significant problem, or that they rank very low on a priority order of things to worry about and fix.But no one can say they don’t exist unless they’re simply not paying attention. When a college administration has one standard of wrongdoing for all other cases and a different standard (either de jure or merely de facto) for male students accused of rape, or when governments dedicate significant resources towards shelters for homeless or battered women but none for homeless or battered men—that’s discrimination against men. When any institution has race-based affirmative action—that’s discrimination against whites. When people argue for confiscatory taxation on the wealthy for no reason other than their greater wealth—that’s discrimination against the affluent. And that’s just on a policy level, within America. We could fairly debate whether any of this discrimination might be justified—but discrimination being justified doesn’t make it not discrimination. On an individual level, it’s even easier to prove. Will anyone seriously claim that there are no women who are misandrists and treat men poorly for being men? Or no black people who are anti-white racists and treat white people poorly for being white? Or no poor or working class people who despise the rich and treat them poorly for being rich? And going outside America, it becomes trivial. Anyone who can claim that white people haven’t been discriminated against in Zimbabwe under Mugabe is flatly ridiculous.Again, this isn’t about claiming that “white men are the real victims” or any alt-white nonsense like that. The point isn’t to try to “win” the Victim Gold Medal for “my side”.The point is that anyone can discriminate—not only white, affluent males. And that means that white, affluent males can be the targets of such discrimination. And not only in theory—in actuality.Original Question:“Can a white, affluent male be the victim of discrimination?”
