An experience of a small car accidentIt was a weekend so me & my friends were going to Ruby Falls. It’s almost 350 miles from Charlotte, North Carolina where I was staying. It was already dark while coming back to home & we were driving on freeway / highway I-85. When we came near Greenville, South Carolina and turned for gas we met with a small car accident.A young lady was driving a car in front of us. As soon the traffic signal light turned yellow she increased the speed & our car was just behind. All of a sudden she applied brakes (quick stop) so did we but the time & distance was not sufficient so there was a little collision. No damage that I could see but as a part of practice, the lady called 911. It didn’t take much time for the officer to arrive. Very first thing he said “Sir, May I see your Driver License” (Being Indian, I never had such polite & respectful experience in India dealing with Indian traffic cops). He first looked at the Driver License then asked for insurance papers. Also he examined the damage & asked to check the rear camera if that's working & luckily it was. He said “there is nothing much that I can see but you can get it checked with someone like AAA & can claim the damage”.The officer was white American and so was the couple in that car. Initially, I strongly suspected that there would be some kind of favor to the lady since both cop & lady being white American & me Indian but nothing like that really happened.The cop was so polite & respectful while talking to me. He did not presume that the lady is the victim & I am the criminal, no gender based presumptions as well. He calmly listened to both of us, heard both sides of story in brief. He did not even make me realize that I am a non-american person, so (like) I have less rights or the lady is in a more favorable position because of that.The officer was so polite, neutral & unbiased. So no, there was nothing racist or biased behavior towards me from him.This one is my personal experience that may differ person to person. I know some of the incidents where the concerns had been raised. The most recent that I can recall is Sureshbhai Patel, age 57. Alabama’s governor apologized to the government of India for the police officer who assaulted and injured an Indian grandfather on Feb. 6 2015. Governor Robert Bentley has also ordered his state to investigate exactly what happened, alongside an FBI probe. The former police officer Eric Parker who is accused of injuring Patel, was fired from the Madison Police Department and charged with third-degree assault. Your friends are either joking or they have absolutely no idea of how American law and politics works. And they may, with all due respect, be succumbing to conservative paranoia.The left controls nothing in America except perhaps the cities of Berkeley, Boulder, and Madison, WI. All three branches of the federal government and 30 of 50 states are controlled by conservatives. Every police department and national guard are loyal to these governments. It might be remotely possible that, in the event of another 9/11, the president would over-react and declare martial law, but he’s not the left. He’s the one we fear here, not the left.

This was made public in a lawsuit filed by a college graduate who had an IQ of 125 but was rejected by a New York police department BECAUSE OF HIS INTELLIGENCE. The Second Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower courts’ decision that police departments had the right to discriminate against those with high intelligence and approved the use of such IQ cut offs in hiring by police departments.The Court of appeals stated that the decision by police departments to not hire highly intelligent individuals may be unwise, but that the police departments had presented viable arguments as to why they deemed high IQ individuals to be unsuitable hires.
