PDF Editor FAQ
What makes Los Angeles, California so popular?
Multiple reasons, there’s not one thing. But I’ll list what I can.I use to live and grew up part of my teenage years in Indianapolis, Indiana. But after the Blizzards of 1977, and 1978 my parents said, “we are not Eskimos we are moving to sunny Los Angeles California. And I’ve been in Los Angeles CA since 1979. So I’ve been here as a SoCal resident for 42+ years. I love this town through and through. Let me say this I’m Asian/American so we prefer the warm climate of Southeast Asia to Siberia or Alaska cold and blizzards. LOL!So I would say the best part is the warm and temperate weather. is the primary reason Los Angeles California is so popular. And with the warm weather, you have the surf, the Pacific Ocean for those that like fishing, fresh seafood, surfing, and all the Ocean water activities, fishing, kayaking, sailing, etc, etcNext is the diversity of cultures and ethnicity.Back in the day 1980’s to 1990’s California was a mecca for high-paying Defense contractor jobs. TRW, Rockwell, Hughes Aircraft / Hughes Electronics, Northrop, Martin-Marietta, Lockheed were all in Socal. Then you have the HUGE Entertainment industry, TV & MOVIES - Hollywood or Hollyweird as some locals call it; (so actors and wanna-be-actors, directors, writers, producers all gravitated to LA), The Oscars. All the studios are here. Paramount, Sony, Warner Bros., 20th Century, MGM, etc, etc. Then you have the HUGE music industry, the Grammy’s. Back in the day Columbia, A&M, Epic, etc, etc.As such LA is also an International destination for the Rich and Famous and Wealthy. It’s a Pacific Rim state so there are lots and lots of interactions with the other Pacific Rim countries, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, etc, etc. And with this those countries and their Corporations bring lots of jobs to LA.Because LA/CA is a Pacific Rim state, it has two of the largest shipping lane ports in the world, Port-of-LA, and Port-of-LongBeach.These Are The 100 Biggiest Comapnies In CaliforniaDETAILED LIST OF THE 100 BIGGEST COMPANIES IN CALIFORNIARANK COMPANY CITY EMPLOYEES1 Concentrix Fremont 225,0002 The Walt Disney Company Burbank 201,0003 Taco Bell Irvine 175,0004 Safeway Pleasanton 137,0005 Gap San Francisco 135,0006 Apple Cupertino 132,0007 Kaiser Permanente Oakland 128,2708 SYNNEX Fremont 108,0009 PORAC Sacramento 107,65310 Intel Santa Clara 107,10011 State of California Sacramento 100,00012 Governor of California Sacramento 100,00013 Alphabet Mountain View 98,77114 AECOM Los Angeles 87,00015 Ross Stores Dublin 82,70016 McKesson San Francisco 78,00017 Cisco Systems San Jose 74,20018 Red Lobster San Francisco 62,00019 Hewlett Packard Enterprise San Jose 60,00020 Aid West Hollywood 53,10021 Chevron San Ramon 51,90022 HP Palo Alto 49,00023 Sanmina San Jose 46,00024 Seagate Technology Cupertino 41,00025 Panda Express Rosemead 39,00026 Sun Microsystems Santa Clara 38,60027 L.A. LAX, Long Beach airport, Burbank airport, Ontario airport, and OC / John Wayne airport. That’s 5 airports. Just a tip, if you fly here as a destination? or even fly out from LA?; even though it’s crowded? FLY out of LAX, they have the cheapest tickets because of the volume, they have the lowest gate fee’s which are what the airlines charge and pass-on to the flyers. And it’s only a 3 1/2 hour drive to Viva Las Vegas or 256 miles. All the above adds up to A LOT, I MEAN A LOT of jobs and opportunity. And if you’re into sports, LA has the Dodger, Kings, Lakers, Clippers and the Rams are back.Plus a lot of these people tend to be into the Active lifestyle, healthy living. yoga, jogging, running, bicycling. plus just 1 to 2 hours away is decent snow skiing and snowboarding, especially now with the recent heavy rain, aka snow we’ve had.In LA I love to bicycle; from where I live in San Gabriel Valley, there are dedicated bike paths. E.g. San Gabriel River bike path and Rio Hondo bike path that were paved on the shoulders of these man-made paved concrete river paths to drain water from the rains from the mountains down to the ocean.I do a 30-mile bike ride a day that takes me about 2 hours. From my house, it’s a straight 30 miles to Seal Beach/Long Beach down these two bike paths. Here are some pictures. These are bike paths for bicycles or scooters, electric bikes are permitted. no cars can travel on these paths except for trail maintenance vehicles. You can also run/jog along these trails and train for marathons. Then you’ve got local skiing:Big Bear ArrowheadMount Baldi skiingmountain high skiingMammoth skiingMammoth lakes California Mineral hot springsTrout Fishing in Bishop and Big Pine:Channel Islands open Ocean Charter fishing.Yellow fin tuna/albacore.Surfing in Socal:Surfing Huntington Beach aka “Surf City”I swear to you from August to October as long as no storm has come down from Alaska from the north Pacific.
