Every question in JEE Advanced is difficult:(JEE Adv 2017 Paper 2)2. Every question is different from what it is in books:(JEE Adv 2017 Paper 2) It has been taken directly from NCERT, with no twist at all, as far as I remember.3. Average student:When I landed in Nagpur for JEE's preparation, I had no fancy record. Average performance in SOF olympiads, no NTSE, etc. All I had was a class topper's tag in a class of 13 students. But still, I managed to give a tough competition to the city's already famous lads. Just keep struggling!4. Lot of practice:Same is applicable for JEE as well.So that is four myths busted!What I observed was that the level of questions in JEE Advanced is not higher than those in many books, but they are asked in such a way that applying an easy logic gets trickier and we conclude that the questions are difficult.(JEE Adv 2016 Paper 2)Do you know how to use the Laboratory Vernier Calliper? Great, but not enough to answer this question. Do you know why you follow those very steps to use it? Voila! The question is a cakewalk.So do you think you can crack JEE Advanced now? Not lot of practice, but in depth analysis of a handful of questions will work better!PS: I have deliberately cropped the answers. Solve the questions first and then tally from the answer key! :-P

In any case, one should be mentally prepared for any possibility.(IV) Proper Preparation Strategy:-> A proper strategy involves the following steps at a broad level.STEP 1:-> Pick up a concept and Go through the TheorySTEP 2:-> Go through the Solved ExamplesSTEP 3:-> Go through the exercise problemsSTEP 4:-> Appear for TestsSTEP 5:-> Analyze your performance (Strong/weak areas)STEP 6:-> Consolidate your learning (Awareness of one’s strengths/weaknesses)STEP 7:-> Chillax - Time to enjoy (Take a break)STEP 8:-> Repeat the Algorithm for “another” concept (GO TO Step 1 and So on).(V)) Learn Systematically:-> Don’t be in a hurry. Take one concept at a time. Try to master that thoroughly. Go through enough solved examples and then try and go through the exercise questions. Start with easy questions, then proceed to Moderate and finally to Difficult questions.(VI) Know that the exam is different:->If you are getting 65% marks or so (in your JEE preparation), don’t fret over thinking that it is a low score (as the chances are high that you might be looking at it from the angle of your Grade 10th or 12th Score). Know the dyanamics of the exam and you will be at peace with yourself.In any Xth or XIIth exam, it’s not very uncommon to score at least 95% marks in Maths. But that’s not the case here.In general, a net score of 65% marks in MATHS (JEE -Advanced) is simplyFinally….(VII) Know your Competitor:->There are more than 10 lakh candidates who appear for the exam -MAINS while around 2 lakh candidates for JEE Advanced. However, they are not your competitors. Your fiercest battle is going to be with YOU -your own self.It is because YOU are your enemy and at the same time YOU are your friend.In your journey towards IIT, you will come across with numerous instances where you will feel like giving up, you will feel like “That’s it, Enough !!”. Frustration, Agonies etc are going to be common place. They will try and knock you down. But then that’s the time when you got to persevere. Just hang around and those difficult moments will pass.Those who make it to the top know that they are bound to encounter these hardships and they prepare themselves adequately for the same.Keep yourself cheerful all the time. After all IIT is NOT the everything. So I gave BITSAT today in the morning slot.My first choice to start with was English and logical reasoningThe types of questions were1)Find synonym of the word2)Make the sentences into a correct order3)Find the wrong part of the sentence4)Paper cutting5)Join the figures6)Incorrect number in series7)Continue the seriesAll in all this section was easy and took me 18 minutes to solveNow moving on to chemistryWell this section had some ambiguities in it and there were like 4-5 questions of organic only.1)Iodoform test2)Final products3)Type of reactionNow coming to phyical and inorganic there were mixed feelings about them.One question was about the mechanism of dyes.I mean whaaattt??There were 4–8 questions from p block and 2/3 from periodic table asking about metallic characteer and thermal stabilitySome questions were from thermodynamics and solutions.Took me 55 mins overallNow MathematicsWell this was a mayhem.Took me a lot of time to solve the questions but paper was flooded with derivatives and also had little of integration and definite integrations.The application of derivative questions were easy and straightforward.There were also questions from Line Plane and 3D.The conics questions were complicatedTook me another good hour to solve this sectionNow coming to physicsThis was filled with mechanicsFor future test takers please revise relative velocity,Newton s laws of motion and circular motion.Like previous papers even this was full with these topicsThere were one two decent questions from heat and thermo but that's allAll the best!
