I don't watch it and have petitioned for it to be removed. But if this isn't a new low, what is?!Somewhere amongst all these are some good serials in little known channels, clean and well made but with hardly any audience. Like Dharamkshetra, Siyaasat, 24…Why would people pump in money to make something people don't want to watch when the trash churned out by the Ekta Kapoor type of shows sells like hot cakes!TV serials suck because we let them.Our audience doesn't want to watch better. Hmm. Well for some reason when you teach in the special ed department, you tend to get very “special “ parents as well.The majority of them want the best for their child and will work with you to fulfill the best interests of the child.There are an extra special few however…The overwhelming majority of my kids are fairly high functioning and don’t spend their whole day with me. I teach all subjects to them, but most of mine go out to gen ed for social studies and science classes. Most are about two grade levels behind, sometimes three. Most of the kids in my class have iqs around 73–80. Not super low when you consider that 100 is average. My fifth graders are working on double digit multiplication at the moment—so that’s about two grade levels behind.Anywho, I have only one who is truly low functioning—-doesn’t speak, makes guttered noises all day—he is autistic and stims verbally—and wears diapers at the age of 9.Mom seems to have forgotten this is public school, not daycare.She requested that we take her child to the bathroom every hour on the hour to potty train him, since apparently she’s been trying for 7 years and nothing is working.She wanted to see video footage to make sure we did.She also wanted me to keep a daily log of his every poop, pee, and whether he ate his lunch.Ya, if I’m doing all this, when am I teaching?Therefore, when I wrote his IEP, I made damn sure one of his goals was to communicate either by pointing at pictures or verbally (if he gets to that point) his wants and needs including the bathroom, but NOT a goal of him being potty trained by us. That way I am NOT legally binding myself to potty train HER child. She’s the parent. That’s HER job.MY job is to teach him to be as functional in the world as possible through academics.She really views school as a way to be rid of her child for the day. She was upset we called her for sending him to school sick—she grudgingly picked him up and argued that “Now how am I supposed to get anything done today?”I don’t know— YOU gave birth to him (SMH!).

I maintained a journal.I have daily logs of how stupid I was. Pages and pages of it. Droning on and on about the silliest issues possible.I hate the fact that as a child I thought I was penning down valuable stuff.
