I don't know yet, if its the best... but surely it was the moment that if I could remember it on my death bed, I would still manage to smile!I was 26 and had just entered a post grad college, when I got diagnosed of a pituitary adenoma. I was started with medications, as at my age surgery was a risky option. I was very passionate about my postgraduate studies and so, keeping my condition to myself, I devoted myself completely into books. I attended many conferences, presented many papers and even got applauded for some.There were some instances where I received proposals through my friends, but I didn't pay heed. My condition, treatment, studies, research and exams were enough for me to handle.I came back after 3 yrs. Got a job with a good corporate firm. Life was good. My doctors decided to try and trail me off drugs. I couldn't be happier.It was during this period that my firm sent me to attend a conference. Three other members were supposed to meet me there, although I knew none of them. I went alone to the lecture and during the break I started searching for a semiformal trio. And I found them. As I approached them, one of them looked at me, with completely astonished expressions. The other two continued there conversation. He came through them and asked me... "XNXN?" (Asking me my company's name) I said "Yes."We four stayed together for the rest of lectures. While departing, that guy didn't go back with other two. He said he had to go somewhere else and so would take metro with me. I was OK with it. We kept talking and reached the metro station. I paid for the auto, so he said he will pay back with a coffee samosa, but as I had still a long way to go, the program was abandoned. We reached the platform and his Metro arrived. I asked him to leave, but he didn't go. We kept talking... Now with smiles. Something strange happened then... I suddenly and quite strangely felt inclined into him. He was smiling while talking and I couldn't take my eyes off him! And suddenly there was a huge force, which I felt was pulling me to him. I had never experienced such a thing. I can best describe the force as something what happens when you bring a north and south pole of a magnet face to face. It was so strong.My Metro came and I took his leave. The entire day I just kept smiling. And I didn't know why? Nothing special had happened. But still something had happened.After a week he called. He wanted to know the directions to a place. Then he called again to know the procedure of an official registration. Then his calls became more and more frequent. He told me he has cleared the interview for the Indian Army, but was still not sure what to do? I was unsure what to tell him. It was a big decision and it was his life! I told him to do what he feels was right and so he resigned and left for Army.We continued talking... Eight months had passed. At my review appointment it was told that due to drug regression, the condition had sprung up again. I got depressed... drugs were started again... and I was in a terrible phase. He was posted in Ladakh then and knew nothing about my health issues. He proposed to me. Although I was expecting it to happen, I wanted it to happen .... But keeping my health condition in mind, I denied. I didn't want him to get troubled because of my condition.We stopped talking afterwards. I cleared exam for a research project and left the corporates. I kept feeling terrible...He didn't contact me after that. Neither did I. I lost his number with my phone. I searched for him over fb, LinkedIn, Google but without any luck...Nine months passed and my parents started poking me to meet guys for matrimony.I knew I had no choice but move on, but something was stopping me... Something... Like a virtual line, which I wasn't able to cross.My parents gave a bunch of profiles to me and 3 days time to give a reply back to them... By the second day my head was bursting... I hadn't touched a single profile... I just couldn't.... I was wishing something should happen.... something which can relieve me of this tension, guilt, and the pressure I was in.The third day, as I was coming out of my workplace, deeply occupied in my thoughts... I saw someone walking towards me... I froze at the sight.... It was him!A cropped haircut, a firmed up posture, but still the same smile...walking through the hazy smog... It was him!!!I controlled myself... A hello happened. We again started talking and strangely there was the same pull again.I didn't know how he traced me, I didn't know why I was leaving from work late that day, I didn't know how we managed to meet just like that and I didn't know how he knew it was the day that I would be forced to pick up the profiles again... But, one thing that I knew was, that he came there to meet me. If I could use the phrase that I was swept off my feet, I wouldn't be wrong.During the fifteen minutes we talked, I mentioned that we were actually meeting only for the second time. To which he replied "Third". When I gave him a puzzled look, he explained that he had seen me first during one of my postgraduate research paper presentations and had approached me then as well, through my friend." Madam, we have met thrice and you have denied me two of those times. What are your intentions now? If they are the same as before, please let me know, for I am stuck. I couldn't move on.
