PDF Editor FAQ

Is there a way to see if my request to register for student aid (the FAFSA) was recieved? I haven't recieved the registration packet yet.

This is a surprising question because FAFSA is the Federal Application For Student Aid, which provides computations upon which colleges can award need-based aid. If an applicant has all the necessary family financial information assembled, it can theoretically be completed in one sitting. It is not a two step process, involving a waiting period and a “registration packet.”It’s May 2019 as I write this, so maybe the question is very old. In that case, I’ve been foolish. If the inquiry is about a student who hopes to matriculate in the fall term of year 2020, the FAFSA will open in October 2019.

People who have won "car prizes": What is the process of getting the car and what did you do with it?

I was on Wheel Of Fortune in 2012. I made it to the bonus round and won a fully loaded hardtop convertible Mazda Miata. About 3 months after the show aired, I was contacted by a dealership, Star Mazda, in California. There were all sorts of steps I had to take to get possession of my vehicle. First, they sent me a packet of paperwork that I used to register the vehicle. I had to pay the tax and registration fees for a vehicle I did not even technically own yet. Once that step was complete, I had to send back a packet of signed documents, along with a copy of my registration. About a week later, I was contacted by Star Mazda once again and they set up a delivery window. They gave me a three-day range as to when my car would be delivered. It was sometime in mid-July, about five months since the show aired, and almost eight months since the tape date.About two weeks later, one of those large vehicle haulers pulls up with about 5–6 various cars on board. The driver, who spoke very little English, quickly, yet methodically drove my car off the truck and onto my driveway. I signed the paperwork saying I received the car, and then he drove off as quickly as he had arrived. The first thing my wife and I did was take pictures. We had to document this exciting event. Of course I wanted to take the car for a spin, so I hopped in and drove it around the neighborhood. I hated the car. I am 6’3”, with very long legs, and I couldn’t get the seat to go far enough back to be comfortable. Plus, the top of my head was brushing against the headliner every time I got in. My wife drove it one time, just to say she did, and didn’t like it either. At the time, we had just found out that we were expecting our second child. We put exactly 99 miles on the vehicle during the first week we owned it. One evening, we drove it to our local dealership and drove off the lot with a brand new loaded Town and Country Mini Van. A straight trade - no money exchanged hands. There are some days I still wish I had the car. But living in Nebraska, most days I am glad I don’t have it any more.

How has the technology environment impacted on the operations of a university?

Back in 1977, I started to Tennessee Tech University. On the first day, all students had to go the the main gym for registration. The was 3 or 4 years before the PC became common and the registration process went like this:1) Show up at the gym, wait in lines going in,2) Once inside, find the line for students with your same last initial.3) sigh a few papers get your “packet”. The registration packet held copies of the stuff we sighed, a sheet listing required courses and available electives and a campus map,4) use the map and course list, run like crazy all over the campus to collect a small deck of punch cards, with each card representing a seat in a class and a slot on my schedule. taking care to avoid class overlaps5) Run the packet with the deck back to the gym to a different door to complete registration, pay fees, that kind of stuff. This took most of the day. After a couple of years I had to drop out for personal reasons. and returned to school at Motlow community college, changing my major to computer http://science.In the that period of time state colleges and universities had started using Mark sense forms - like the answer sheets used for the entrance exams - for registration. The packet was mailed to me a couple of weeks in advance, it took less than an hour to fill out and mail back
