Who knew this small boy would become a Wall that shielded Gods?I’ve heard this from my Maths Teacher Mr. Ravi Sharma.Dravid was studying at St. Joseph's Boys college at the time. He never attended his classes. One day Sir was furious looking at the attendance register. A person was absent in all classes of his. Sir wanted to punish him and asked the students about his whereabouts. They pointed out towards the playground. He(my teacher) saw a young boy completely covered in sweat; working his ass out.Dravid used to practice batting 8 hrs a day!! Sometimes more... That's how dedicated he was to the game. He was not very very talented as a batsman, but he worked hard with determination and showed the world what he is capable of. This shows that hard work wins when talent does not work hard.​​PS: Today my teacher proudly says that Dravid was a student of his but to tell the truth he never taught him anything!!

I remember when I was in my first year of engineering, I often used to bunk the workshop lectures. One day, when I went to attend the workshop, the workshop assistant came and took attendance on the register and went away. Meanwhile, I escaped through the backdoor of workshop but unfortunately workshop assistant again took attendance at the end of the lecture. My friends told me that he marked your name and was gonna report it to HOD. So, I was afraid of what will happen. But one thing I knew was where he kept that attendance register. So, in the lunch break while they were having lunch in a different room, I opened the register and saw that he has made a dot in front of my name. Something like this..So, to save myself what I did was something like this..

The story is of my second year in IITR (2006). A friend of mine (Lets call him S) had reached a stage where even asking someone for proxies also seemed too much of pain. By experience S had found that most professors put a dot instead of A and write P for present. So he would just wait for a chance to get his hands on the attendance register for few minutes when the prof is not around and put the required number of Ps. This had worked for him in couple of courses before this. The course was Numerical Analysis and S being awfully short on attendance was finally in class. Also by then S had reached a new height of desperation as stories regarding the Prof being a very strict disciplinarian has reached his ears. That day he finally got lucky and the prof went out of the classroom for few minutes (I cant remember for what exactly). Two of us quickly stood guard at the door and S with his assorted set of blue pens was at the attendance register. He opened it and then gave us his most flummoxed look ever (The one that he gives when he has a question paper in his hands and has no clue what the questions mean). He turns to us and in desperate whisper asks should he change the उ to अ or अ to उ. And our precious seconds were spent laughing on this and the prof was back. He was not caught with the register but SS couldn't make the changes. At the end of the semester he had to spent some quality time at the prof's office grovelling to pass and he finally did. But his expression when he looked at the register was priceless!!
