Flight attendants, what should all passengers know?

Everyone needs to know that clear air turbulence[1] is real – and it kills! Those who think that seatbelts are unnecessary (except when the seatbelt sign is on) put themselves, and those around them, in danger of serious injury or death. For all passengers who roll their eyes and grumble when reminded to keep their belts fastened whenever seated, the crew remind you because this type of turbulence[2] strikes in beautiful clear weather, without any warning. This means that when turbulence strikes, anything not tied down will hit the ceiling. This includes passengers, crew, luggage, food trays, and service carts. By wearing your seatbelt, you can avoid becoming a victim and reduce your chances of injuring yourself and your neighbors. You might still be hit by flying objects, but you can reduce the likelihood of sustaining a serious injury by blunt force trauma, or by becoming the heavy flying object that injures others.Turbulence Accidents That Killed Airline PassengersThe following are a list of turbulence accidents since 1980 that killed one or more passengers on a jet airliner. Excluded are accidents involving jet airliners designed or built in the former Soviet Union.10 May 1980; Indian Airlines 737-200; near Rampur Hat, India: The aircraft experienced severe en route turbulence. Has Donald Trump affected the tradition of championship teams visiting the White House?

Hey Jimmy, nice to meet you!Allow me to give an example…When Filet-O-Fish aficionado Donald Trump invited the Clemson Tigers to enjoy the White House’s first Presidential Value Meal, most of Clemson’s national championship football team members jumped at the opportunity to meet the original cheeseburger-swallowing clown. But we have learned that Clemson’s black players, some specifically citing racism and their disdain for Trump’s divisive politics, passed on the opportunity to hang out with the real-life Mayor McCheese.A newspaper spoke with three black Clemson players who each separately confirmed that many players, both black and white, had no interest in making the trip. All three acknowledged that Donald Trump was the reason they chose not to attend. Even more telling, most of Clemson’s white players were in attendance while nearly three-fourths of the school’s black football players took a hard pass on the chance to eat cold fries with the president of people who eat salads from McDonald’s.“It wasn’t like we had a team meeting or anything,” said one of Clemson’s offensive stars who spoke with the newspaper on the condition of anonymity. “Players were talking amongst each other but everybody was like: ‘I’m not going to that.’”Another defensive standout noted that coaches didn’t pressure players to accompany the team to Washington, D.C., but said that almost every black player he knew didn’t want to take the trip. However, he noted that he knew that some players only attended because they worried that refusing to attend the traditional White House visit might affect their scholarships or playing time.“Not saying anything against the players who went,” the junior explained, “but if you look at who went—freshman and people fighting for playing time—you’ll see what I’m talking about.”In total, 15 of the University’s black players listed on the school’s official roster attended the White House visit, the vast majority of whom (11) were freshmen or sophomores who had very little playing time during the season. Just one senior made the trip and only six of the players in attendance were even listed on Clemson’s national championship depth chart. There are at least 57 black student-athletes on Clemson’s official team roster, which means 74 percent of Clemson’s African-American players chose not to make the trip to the White House. In an email, Joe Galbraith, Clemson’s associate vice president for strategic communications, said approximately two-thirds of Clemson’s players attended Happy Mealopalooza.“We had 76 student-athletes (approximately two-thirds of the team) make the trip to D.C.,” Galbraith’s statement read. “For a variety of reasons, several players were not able to adjust schedules to make the trip.“On the championship game roster, 26 players had already received their bachelor’s degree, and had no planned obligations on campus beginning that week,” the email added. “Other student-athletes had class obligations as the spring semester began the week prior.”However, according to the school’s academic calendar, Clemson was less than a week into its spring semester and all three players acknowledged that their professors would have excused the absences.“So, you think players just wanted to go to classes so bad?” another sophomore member of the team asked rhetorically. “They told us it was up to us. Folk just didn’t want to go.”To Clemson’s credit, all three students individually confirmed that Clemson’s coaches, staff or administration did not pressure them to attend the McNugget buffet nor did any official tell them to keep quiet about their reasons for not going. The players also noted that they harbored no ill feelings towards the players who chose to make the trek to McDonaldland.“This team is a family,” said the freshman baller. “You don’t always agree with your family on everything but still ... that’s my brother, no matter what.”When asked if they regretted their decision to stay in South Carolina once they saw the piles of cold McMeat their teammates got to enjoy, all three laughed.“Now if it was some Five Guys, I might feel different,” responded one.So to conclude: Nobody was really eager to accept Donald Trump’s invitation to the McCookout…This answer is attributed to:Exclusive: Clemson’s Black Players Refused to Accept Donald Trump’s Invitation to the McCookout

Who's been the unluckiest Prime Minister of India?

PV Narasimha Rao was the unluckiest Prime Minister of India for several reasons. He wasn’t chosen for the post of the PM because his party thought that he was the most capable person for the job. Rather, he was chosen because he did not threaten anyone. The party wanted a lame duck PM who did not threaten anyone and Rao fitted the criteria perfectly. He was from a community which has never been a vote bank for any party in the country. He was on the closing stages of his political career. He had been a loyalist of Indira Gandhi previously and these reasons was why he was picked over Arjun Singh and Sharad Pawar who were the other two choices for the party. He was sworn in as the 9th PM and his government was a minority government. He actually did not have the numbers sufficient to be guaranteed of a full 5 year term. He had to deal with three kinds of opponents throughout his reign. The left, the right, and his own party. He had to deal with the left bloc and their allies, the BJP which was on the rise, and his own partymen who were jealous of the fact that an outsider had become the PM and his biggest challenge to initiate economic reforms did not come from the left or the BJP. Rather, it came from his own party which was hell bent on preserving the socialist legacy of Nehru and Indira and was severely against any kind of reform.Rao had inherited a welfare state in all aspects. Indian economy was on the verge of collapse and the growth had become stagnated. Smaller Asian countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and others which had been dismissed as Coca Cola countries by Nehru were growing at an impressive rate but the world’s largest democracy’s growth was pathetic. India was on the verge of becoming bankrupt. Had Rao not initiated reforms, the entire economy would have collapsed within three weeks. But even when he did initiate reforms, he was severely criticized by socialist nationalist economists. When he became the PM, India was facing two very dangerous separatist movements in Kashmir and Punjab respectively. These two movements threatened the very existence of India. When he became the PM, the country was just recovering from the brutal assassination of former PM Rajiv Gandhi. Security condition was quite alarming in the country. On the international front, India’s closest ally the Soviet Union or the USSR had collapsed and had lost its superpower status. India had to make new allies. Any attempt to improve relations with the US or Israel would have totally infuriated the left and exposed the government to no confidence motion.Throughout his reign, he had to face monumental challenges. India had to deal with the Kashmir-Punjab separatist movement, the riots that followed the Babri masjid demolition, the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts, 1993 Latur earthquake, and many such events.During the intermediate stages of his reign, he was associated with corruption scandals courtesy the Harshad Mehta scam. Eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani who represented Mehta called it a PV Narasimha Rao scam and he was accused of taking a 1 crore bribe. He was later acquitted on the charges of corruption.Despite having been a Prime Minister, Chief Minister, and having occupied so many positions of influence, Rao had to face a severe financial crisis after his term ended. He had to sell his house in Hyderabad to pay his lawyer and medical bills and also to pay for his son’s and granddaughter’s education. Mind you, this was the former PM of India and he had to sell his home due to severe financial difficulties. In 2004 Rao passed away and even in death, he was humiliated by his party. The very party for which he had dedicated his entire life didn’t allow his body to enter its headquarters in Delhi. His family members were forced to hold his cremation in Hyderabad even though they wanted it to be done in Delhi as befits the honour of the PM.It’s been 13 years since he passed away but no celebration has ever been held on his birthday in official capacity in the Congress party premises. No party worker is taught about Rao. Whenever the Congress speaks about its achievements, Rao’s name is deliberately left out. His achievements are credited to others. No senior Congress leader with the exception of one ever attends events that are held in Rao’s honour. That exception is former PM Dr Manmohan Singh who was Rao’s loyalist till the end and even today, continues to pay his respect towards his mentor.PV Narasimha Rao was unlucky because probably he became the PM when India was in a deep mess. He had to deal with multiple opponents on the left, right, and the centre ends of the political spectrum. He could not trust his own party members. Some say that he had more trust in the opposition leader and his dear friend Atal Bihari Vajpayee than what he had in his own party members. His term was filled with many challenges and his name was tarnished due to a scandal. His life after his term was full of financial crisis which made him sell his home. Even after death, he found himself totally abandoned by his own party and was humiliated by it.But the great man managed to totally change the fortunes of India despite being the unluckiest PM we’ve ever had.Aditya Kulkarni's answer to Of all the Indian Prime Ministers you've seen in your life, whom do you respect the most and why?He was personally unlucky but he turned the luck of our nation :)
