Upon learning of developments, the National Health Commission (NHC) acted immediately to organize research into the disease.December 31: The NHC made arrangements in the small hours to send a working group and an expert team to Wuhan to guide its response to the situation and conduct on-site investigations. The WCHC website carried its Information Circular on the Pneumonia Cases in Wuhan, confirming 27 cases and urging the public to stay away from enclosed public places with poor ventilation and venues where large crowds gathered. The commission also suggested the use of face masks when going out. From that day on, the WCHC began to release updates on the disease in accordance with the law.January 1, 2020: The NHC set up a leading group on the disease response. The next day, it formulated Guidelines on Early Detection, Early Diagnosis and Early Quarantine for Prevention and Control of Viral Pneumonia of Unknown Cause. The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) received the first batch of samples of four cases discovered in Hubei and began the pathogen identification process.January 3: The WCHC issued Information Circular on Viral Pneumonia of Unknown Cause, reporting a total of 44 cases. The heads of the China and US CDCs held a telephone discussion on technical exchanges and cooperation.January 9: The NHC expert evaluation team released information on the pathogen of the viral pneumonia of unknown cause, and made a preliminary judgment that a new coronavirus was the cause. China informed the WHO of developments and the initial progress that had been made in determining the cause of the viral pneumonia. I have been wanting to share this with everyone out there, and here on Quora, i finally found this question. So here goes my first answer on Quora, pardon my English as I don’t write much. Going anonymous, as it involves quite confidential information.Me and my husband are currently working in a small Indian civil consultancy firm which employs around 50 people. We have two MD’s, lets call them Girish and Harsh. As it is a very small consultancy, we do not have proper policies in place and everything is worked out as is required.Now, me and my husband start planning to have a baby, so I asked my HR manager about the maternity benefit policy of the company. She informed me there is no such policy in the company as of now, as there had never been a case before. We have a women cell which is headed by Harsh’s and Girish’s wife, Anamika and Sunita. So my HR manager told me to discuss this in women cell meeting. At the next meeting, I raised this query, to which Anamika replied without any hesitation, that whatever the Government rules are regarding this matter, we will follow the same. It is 26 weeks of paid leaves and that shall be provided. I still insisted to have it in written in company’s policy, but she ensured I need not worry, it shall be soon written also.Fast forward 6 months, me and one of my colleagues, lets call her Neha, get pregnant. Little facts about Neha. She is a senior Engineer with around 7 years of experience. She is a very annoying lady to sit with and has a habit of blaming everyone else for every mistake in her project. So, for Neha, it was a critical pregnancy as after 8 years of trying and going through various medical treatments, she had finally conceived. She took 2 months leave for proper rest and when she was about to join the company back, she called and informed our HR manager that she would require a seat at ground floor as her current seat was on 2nd floor and there’s no lift in the building. She was advised by her doctor to avoid the stairs. Meanwhile, I was already provided a seat at the ground floor, which had been kept vacant for a senior manager, but he never joined. I was informed that if required, you may be shifted back to your seat on 1st floor, to which I agreed. Now comes the day when Neha joins back. She had been ensured that she would be provided the seat at ground floor, but when she joins, she is told there is no seat on ground floor and nobody can be moved for her convenience. She created a lot of drama for this, due to which finally a meeting was held between MD’s, their wives and HR. In that meeting, it was decided that as a senior manager was about to join the company, I shall be moved back to my seat on 1st floor, and Neha too will have to sit on 2nd floor. She, being satisfied that no one else is also getting the benefit, agreed.Now, 3 weeks forward, we receive a circular via mail in which maternity policy was defined. I was shocked to see the lines “NO PAID MATERNITY LEAVES” written under the terms and conditions of maternity policy. I decided to have a word with our MD’s, but before I could, all girls, except Neha, were called for a meeting in MD’s office. They started the meeting by saying that it is regarding Neha. She had not been performing well in the past and due to her they lost their most prestigious client (who was responsible for around 40% of their revenue), as they have refused to give us any further work, owing to the mistakes and re-submissions Neha had done in the previous project. So they requested Neha to resign, but she refused to do so. So they wanted our opinion in this matter. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My first response was that it a company matter, why are we getting dragged into this. They said since she is pregnant, we wanted all women’s opinion. I told them they cannot terminate her during her pregnancy, it is illegal as per maternity policy of the government. Also, I told them they have to provide paid maternity leaves also. To this, Harsh replied the policy is for government organisations and doesn’t apply to us. I reminded him that his wife, Anamika had promised us the same benefits shall be provided, to which he replied, she doesn’t know the laws, we will be providing the leaves but we will not pay. I told them it was unfair on their part as now we cannot even switch company. My words were falling on deaf ears so I didn’t argue again. The meeting went on for around 20 minutes and it was finally agreed that Neha would just be given a written warning and left.3 days after, my husband decided to have a word alone with Girish regarding maternity benefits as I was taking a lot of stress for the same. Girish assured my husband that it was just that they didn’t want to provide any extra benefit to Neha, I would receive the benefit in some other way, like bonus or incentive. We didn’t believe their words, but as my husband was employed in the same company, I decided not to go for a legal action right now. I just remembered a quote in my mind, “No need for revenge. Just sit back and wait. Those who hurt you eventually screw up themselves and if you are lucky, God will let you watch.” So i kept my calm and resuemd my work.1 week forward, Harsh and Girish call me and my husband in their cabin. The conversation goes like this :Girish - We have enquired about the law a little and we think that it is payable. But still it is unclear, somewhere it is 3months paid and somewhere 6 months. Also, it is not clear whether full salary is payable or only basic.Harsh - We are still enquiring about it and if it is payable,we will pay. If it is not, we will not.Girish - No, there’s no question of not paying. We will pay, either 3 months or 6 months, that we will decide.( I was sensing there’s something wrong, how suddenly they are being so polite and nice.)Harsh continues - You must be knowing about what Neha did.Me - No sir, what happened.Harsh - She has filed a legal case of harassment and denial of maternity benefits against us.(And I was all smiles inside.)Girish - Did we harass her? We did not terminate her, we asked her to resign, and when she didn’t we let her work. You all know what loss we are going through and how her work has been. So the pilots keep putting the nose up and the plane keeps putting the nose down.” - see***)belowIt’s probably this counterintuitive characteristic, which goes against what has been trained many times in the simulator for unwanted autopilot trim or manual trim runaway, which has confused the pilots of JT610. They learned that holding against the trim stopped the nose down, and then they could take action, like counter-trimming or outright CUTOUT the trim servo. But it didn’t. After a 10 second trim to a 2.5° nose down stabilizer position, the trimming started again despite the Pilots pulling against it. The faulty high AOA signal was still present.How should they know that pulling on the Yoke didn’t stop the trim? It was DESCRIBED NOWHERE - neither in the aircraft’s manual, the AFM, nor in the Pilot’s manual, the FCOM. This has created strong reactions from airlines with the 737 MAX on the flight line and their Pilots. They have wrongfully learned the NG and the MAX flies the same. They often fly them interchangeably during the week.They do fly the same as long as no fault appears. Then there are differences, and the Pilots should have been informed about the differences right away - not 18 month later.The leading people at Boeing (CEO, engineers, managers) know this very well and are therefore fully responsible to deliberately selling a passenger plane (737 Max) which would be unsafe to fly without informing the pilots about the differences compared to flying an NG during the 18 months (1,5 years) before finally the adjusted instructions were given to the cockpit crew only in Nov. 2018.But those people just wanted to keep their cash-cow alive (10,557 units sold) with little money to invest compared to a new fault free "clean sheet“ successor model aircraft which would cost zillions of Dollars to develop and would also need much time to put it on the market and get a new airworthy certification for it.But today, after the Grounding of 550 Boeing 737 Max since March 2019 the negative financial impact for Boeing is massive and reaches already a quarterly loss of $ 2,9 Billion.
