Thermal power using coal causes pollution and lung diseases (leading to thousands of deaths every year), besides global warming and massive coal mining disasters. Oil brings geopolitical risks (of depending on rogue governments) and major slicks that destroy the environment besides the pollution and global warming. Hydro power destroys forests and floods a whole bunch of villages. Other sources of energy are not viable on a massive scale.This whole planet is risky and life carries no warranty cards. Accept the reality.Compared with all other conventional energy sources, nuclear power has higher safeguards and has not killed anyone. If we move to the thorium process, we might even avoid a big part of the waste problem.So why is Germany moving away and we are not?The German economy is stagnant (GDP growth at 0.4%) and the same is true of Japan and other countries that are phasing down nuclear energy. In India, anything less than 12 times that growth is a tragedy. We need to grow at 8%+ for 30 years to eradicate poverty.Since their economies are not growing, their energy usage is dropping. Since the 1970s, the US and Germany have *reduced* their per capita consumption by 20%. Their population is not growing either. With dropping needs and worldwide increase in solar, wind & oil, they could logically move from nuclear.In India's case, our per capita consumption has grown 230% in the same period and in the case of China it is more than 400%. In parallel, our population is also growing. Simply said, we need a lot, lot more energy than what we have (see how China's graph is diverging).Google Public Data ExplorerGiven 1 & 2, we need to explore every bit of energy source to pull our people out of poverty through industrialization. That means our government is pushing hard on wind, solar, oil, coal, hydro AND nuclear. Follow the links at the end to see how India is pushing hard on all these energy sources, not just nuclear.Germans and Japanese are rich enough to chase the theoretical risks of nuclear energy (Three Mile Island and Fukushima have killed a grand total of ZERO people, while carbon based energy sources are killing every minute). With hundreds of millions in dire poverty & need of energy, India has more immediate, real problems to face.I really commend the Germans for moving to solar and I wish India had that much resources. But, we are not there yet. Whey you block a power source think of the kid who is dying in his mother's womb because the hospital has no power during the delivery. The Indian Navy also has berthing rights here which means its ships can dock at Oman’s bases.Qatar: The historic Defence Cooperation Pact of 2008 signified India committing its military assets to protect Qatar from external threats. This pact is said to be just short of actually positioning troops on the ground.Vietnam : The Indian Navy has berthing rights here as well. It also regularly gives Port of call here (Port of call means an intermediate stop for a ship on its scheduled journey for unloading & loading of cargo or taking on supplies or fuel). Cooperation between the two is rising rapidly to keep China in check. Exporting missiles & training Vietnamese pilots are some of the latest deals between the two countries.Maldives: The small island nation was saved from outside coup by India’s armed intervention. It is now under India’s security grid. India has set up radars on all 26 atolls & networked with the Indian Coastal Radar System. Sorties & patrols are a regular feature of India’s forces meant to keep the security of the Maldivian waters intact. The island nation has assured it wouldn’t let China build a military base on its land. It is a crucial partner for India as elaborated above.Seychelles: Earlier this year, India signed a 20-year pact with the Seychelles to build an airstrip and a jetty for its navy.Singapore: Last November, Modi’s team inked a pact with Singapore that may boost Indian access to that country’s Changi naval base.Iran: “Future military uses of Chabahar by India cannot be ruled out,” said Brewster. The $85 million Chabahar project, located only about 350 kilometers from Gwadar, is aimed at creating a transit route between India, Iran and Afghanistan.Bangladesh: During Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Bangladesh, India attained a massive victory when the two nations signed an agreement that allows Indian cargo vessels the use of China-backed Chittagong & Mongla Port.Myanmar: India is also committed to modernizing Myanmar’s armed forces & ensuring its maritime security.[1]Hambantota, Sri Lanka: Hambantota is right in the middle of vital energy supply lines in the Indian Ocean, connecting the Middle East and East Asia. Sri Lanka government had announced that it will go ahead with the deal with India to jointly operate the $210 million Mattala Rajapaksha International Airport (MRIA) at Hambantota, about 241km south-east of Colombo, through a joint venture with the Airports Authority of India (AAI). Control over Hambantota airport will give India considerable control over how the port is used. It is difficult to conceive of the Chinese navy developing a significant facility at Hambantota without also controlling the airport. In short, India is spending US$300 million buying an airport to block a Chinese naval base. [2]India is also expanding its presence in Indian Ocean through bases in own farthest islands and also in South China Sea:The Indian Navy on Thursday commissioned the new air base -- INS Kohassa -- in the Andaman and Nicobar islands as part of efforts to expand operational presence in the Indian Ocean where China has been increasing its military presence.[3]India & Australia conducted a maritime exercise ‘AUSINDEX-15’ on the coast of Visakhapatnam in response to Chinese submarines in the Indian Ocean. I personally am very conflicted about the idea of the Earth being visited by intelligent life.On one hand, it seems astounding that over ten thousand years ago we were lifting precisely carved many-hundred-ton rocks hundreds of feet into the air and making megalithic structures - when humans theoretically were coming out of the ice age.Also, I know there are some theories about the origin of radioactivity of dinosaur bones, but it doesn't explain why only some kinds of these bones are radioactive... basically the vicious T-Rex things and such.I don't believe the pyramids were "tombs". Sure, we can speculate that they were all sorts of things... Tombs of the "God-Kings", temples, etc. Some interesting ideas revolve around them being power plants. This guy has what seems like a plausible theory;...But he doesn't explain hydrogen separation... But that can be explained with other things.Some of the Nazca structures are much more than just "moving some rocks around" - like this:Or how the entire top of this mountain range was cleared off:Most have said this is a naturally occurring mesa - and that certainly makes sense, but there is evidence of quite a lot of activity in this area some time ago;But there's evidence of large-scale excavations everywhere in the area.And, unless the Spanish destroyed it all, there doesn't appear to be any reason for what all of this costruction was for - other than "ceremonial religious reasons", or astronomical reasons, but these things are just simply everywhere.... Whith no apparent astronomical or religious "reasons"....Or this one - again the Palpa flat Plateaus -- The plateau in the foreground covers a length of over two miles - Some people say this is a "naturally occurring plateau" -- hmmm - It doesn't look like any "natural" formation I've ever seen (IMHO). The plateau in the background is much longer and much more complex - and not naturally occurring - some argue that the foreground plateau is....I'm not insinuating these are "landing fields" or anything like that... that is just pure speculation - How they were built and why there is no record whatsoever is very peculiar. these are incredibly massive projects that would take a huge amount of effort -- this is literally the moving of several mountains.... yet it is just a complete utter mystery....These things are HUGE - here's a shot from an airplane;....Or how these walls - that have some rocks weighing over six hundred tons were built;...One question that I keep asking myself when I see this wall is..... WHY did they think they needed to build a wall like this?! their enemies (theoretically) had spears and arrows -...Or the ever-mysterious Puma Punku:Or this one; carved theoretically by peoples that didn't even have writing;There are wonderous things in Egypt... As much as the pyramids, for the life of me, I don't know how ancient Egyptians were able to precisely carve the figures in this Aswan granite obelisk without diamond tipped high-speed power tools - and even then it would take a long long time; yet, there's no record of anyone even working on these structures... that is incredibly weird to me.... it's almost like they just - "showed up".Or, just the pyramids themselves;The Great Pyramid of Giza;...It has over seven million blocks and was built over 10-20 years.Each block is about this size;If they built just this pyramid over the course of twenty years, working 24/7 they would have been laying down nine blocks a minute.... Wow. If it took ten years that's eighteen blocks a minute - one every three seconds. Not even counting the inner engineering of the chambers and tunnels.Another astounding thing is the Temple of Jupiter in Baalbek; There are just astounding things laying all over the place - like this huge rock;..They're just laying around all over the place... That picture above is a carved stone weighing over 1000 tons. We have made very concerted academic attempts to reproduce moving these things around and have had no luck - like this one trying to move a model of a maoi statue - it weighs just five tons;But the Easter Island statues weigh over forty tons; the weight of a space shuttle - and it's just a theory -- we don't really know how they did it; there are theories about log rollers, "walking", dragging, but we just don't know....But back to Baalbek, this stone weighs 1200 tons;...And there is - just sitting up there twenty feet in the air... No clue anywhere how they did it....My hunch is that there were simply many technologies that were just lost to the ages.... But there is simple too much knowledge that is missing... That to me is a bigger question than whether they were built by aliens or not.So much of ancient megalithic architecture is simply too astounding, with no record of how it was built, that a question bigger than the structures themselves comes to the front -even though a lot of these peoples had no writing, where is the record of how these structures were built?Maybe a lot of it was burned up in the Alexandria Library. Maybe it all died off with the people who built all this stuff. Maybe it's yet to be discovered. Maybe someone is hiding it.... I really just don't know. But - I do know that I am not the type of person to discount any particular theory of how or why some megalithic structure was built - whether it was aliens or not... We simply don't know what we don't know. I doubt it - but it's not discountable, except that it's statistically discountable given time and distances involved.But, there are some astounding things out there that we are absolutely clueless as to how or why it was built.... Aliens? I don't know..Some people who are not nut jobs believe it -- some that are; Just because it sounds weird doesn't mean it's either true or false -But, let's just step back a moment and remember that the show is just that; a show. A large part of it is typical new-age BS - crystal skulls, alien plagues, astrological alignment, 12/21/2012 apocalypse, blah blah blah....However - the show does bring up the point that there are simply some amazing things on this planet that we simply have no idea how or why they got here.... And I guess my personal fascination with (sometimes) watching the show just makes my software engineering problems that I have to deal with daily so... miniscule.
