I had some weakness and fatigue for a week. Got up in the night with two hard vomiting episodes…. It was gross.Went to a local clinic. They said I might have something going on in my abdomen given my symptoms and high white blood cell count. The NP wrote prescriptions for two antibiotics and asked me to go to a very tiny hospital, five hours later, for an abdominal CT scan. They asked for $2,700 upfront before submitting to insurance but I refused.“No, I have my prescriptions and have an appointment with my PCP in two days.”I had NEVER been asked for money upfront. I had a very good commercial insurance plan for the family and just thought they were reaching.I drove myself 40 miles to my primary care provider. She looked at my lab work, did an abdominal exam, and sent me immediately across the street to an imaging facility (that billed insurance).She said, “I think you have a hot appendix."At 62 I didn't think that was in my age group. Had scan. Diagnosis was hot appendix. Imaging center instructed me to go quickly to the medical center - they would be expecting me as my appendix had ruptured.I drove myself to the medical center. They did not have referral form, didn't know who I was or why I was there. Left me sitting, sick, in the lobby for 45 minutes. I told them my appendix had burst.So I went out to a hot car (it was 96° that day), to call my PCP and the imaging center to get someone to call in a referral before I died. I threw a fit in the ER and they admitted me and THEY did the calling to get the referral. Turned out the imaging center had not sent it over and said they had “dropped the ball.”The hospital was on deferment and turning patients away to other hospitals within 150 miles. They had to bump other surgeries but I got in and got a bed. I was prepped for emergency surgery.The surgeon said my abdomen was full of bowel contents and all my major organs were floating in toxic sludge. I lived but with some long-term effects.Always throw a fit: it could save your life.

Go to your MD and rule out life-threatening injury. Then, chiropractic, osteopathy, PT, etc. (whatever your preference). Reporting time depends on certain factors:-How much time does the sample take to reach the lab. For example, say one lab has a testing facility in Mumbai and they collected sample from Panipat in Haryana, or from any other remote area, the logistics may take 2 to 3 days time to reach the lab.Backlog-Few labs are running to their capacity. Say they have a capacity to run 1000 tests in a day and they are collecting 1200 samples daily, it shall create a backlog and clearing it shall take time.Documentations: The sales or field team focuses more on generating leads and collecting the maximum number of samples. They collect patient’s ID and a prescription from the doctor of the patient along with a duly filled ICMR referral form at the time of the sample collections. Sometimes, the prescription or the referral form may not be in line with the ICMR guidelines. The sales team or the sample collection team might not be competent enough to judge if the prescription and the referral form are as per guidelines. This causes delays in sample processing and reporting.
