Test scores are just used to filter the bad applicant. If you have a good GMAT score, you might not be filtered along with other applicants on stage 1.The third thing to understand is that your college academics does matter. You want to be at the top of your class consistently. Many Indian students think of their college as play time & pay scant attention to academics. If you didn't care about your exams in undergraduate why are you even trying to study something after those 4 years? If you screwed up your college exams due to your callous attitude, you have a very tough hill to climb. You have to make it up in a huge way.How can you show that you are the top 0.01%:Get hired by a top company: Getting a job at the likes of Google, McKinsey, Goldman Sachs provide a good indication to the admissions committee that you might be a top performer. If you had trouble getting there, you might also face equal trouble getting to HBS or GSB.
