Being a final year student, I have spent almost four years here. So, I think I am eligible to answer this.Lack of sensibility:Unnecessary records. Why do we need to copy the same content available in the material? (Especially for Eee, Mech and Civil)Why should not the girls get out of the campus after 7 or 9? No one should restrict the freedom of adults.You can see a lot of professors who give importance only to academics here. They don't care if you have attended a prestigious Startup competition or if you are playing an Inter NIT tournament representing our college. All they want you to do is to attend all their classes, study your ass off and get an S grade.Obsolete curriculum:The curriculum is not at all par with the industry or current technological trends.Unnecessary courses.( why do we need to draw machines with a pencil when we can simulate them?)80% attendance:This is the most annoying rule. Why bother about some one who is not interested in your class? What is the point? I still don't get it.Arrogance:I applied for a bonafide certificate for my passport verification purpose. The bonafide certificate was ready but Registrar asked me to submit my Passport application form to sign on the certificate. Yeah! It's quite a risk because we generally get the next day as the verification slot and we have to find the Registrar who will most probably gone for hours for tea in working hours. (Yeah I had to wait for hours to get it signed).Just like the above example, arrogance is found every where in the campus from Hostel office to Department office to faculty to administration.Lack of transparency:Do you know how much exactly is being spent for Ragam or Tathva?How much did Ankit Tiwari get as remuneration for the pro show?After all it's the money of students being spent. So every student has a right to know the exact transactions.A lot can be added to the list.Well, there are sensible faculty but they are often out numbered by their counterparts.

Interview: Civil Services Examination 2013I am honestly not able to figure out whether it was a unnatural thing or a proper attempt to test my temperament, but yes whatever happened on 9th April 2014 taught me a lot!!I was being interviewed by 5 members, all having years of experience double that of my age!! UPSC Interview is conducted mainly on the basis of:1. Detailed Application Form (DAF) comprising our curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular records.2. Your Educational Qualification3. Current Affairs4. Overall personalityApart from my Academic Achievements, major focus of my DAF was on my hobby (Poetry, as I had two books published) and interests in Sports viz. Football and Tennis,My interview had started on a decent note and was shaping up well when one of the Panel Members arrived on area of my interests. What I perceived to be out of the track though not completely unnatural are following two questions:( M1: Member1, M2: Member2 )Question:1M1: "So, you like Football! Do you follow Football?"Me: (Absolutely delighted as finally I had the opportunity to be in my comfort zone)"Yes sir, I do!"( I was eager to answer any question on Club Football in Europe. And then, FIFAWorld Cup was just around the corner.)M1: "Tell me who won this year's Santosh Trophy"( Santosh Trophy is an Annual Football Tournament in India contested by States &Government Institutions.)Me: ( It was a two-footed tackle on me and a Straight Red Card but then unfortunatelyThe Referee can not be sent off! )"Sorry sir but I don't know!"Question:2M2: " So, you are a poet!"Me: ( This was indeed the most anticipated moment in my Interview as these are the questions where Human Element comes into the picture instead of Technicalities. I was expecting questions on Genre of my poems, favourite poets and even an opportunity to present a poem or two)"Yes sir, I am and I have been composing poems since I was 11."M2: *not at all giving a damn about my answer*"You have two books published? When was the first book published?"Me: 2003, Sir!M2: "and the second book?"Me: "In 2004, Sir. And the editing of third book is going on."M2: "How many copies were published of these two books?"Me: *having been completely put off by nature of question*"Sir, around 2000 copies for each book with mainly private circulation."M2: Ok!Lessons learnt:1. Your strengths can be YOUR comfort zone and not of interviewer's! And hence expect them to get ignored!2. Panel might neglect what you are good at but that's exactly the opportunity to make a statement that you are actually GOOD!3. I came out of the Interview room gutted and felt I was not really tested but soon I realised there couldn't have been a better way to show my composure!In the hindsight, I indeed feel that detailed question-answers on my hobbies would have been added advantage but yes, I scored good marks in interview and cleared the exam!It's not the "weakness of your strength" but the "strength of your weakness" that will see you through!!
