I am a psychiatrist, and once I saw a psychiatrist who spent 3 hours asking a checklist of questions over 3 appointments. My first statement to him was a request for a specific non-controlled substance medication and he deflected. He implied we would eventually get to talking about it. Then the checklist. Felt like a poorly programmed artificial intelligence robot was interviewing me. He insisted on ordering a huge slew of unnecessary lab studies, including a vitamin A level, completely irrelevant to psychiatric disorders. He probably meant to write vitamin D and made a mistake there, but I was baffled at the incompetence. After the three hour, three appointment long diagnostic evaluation, he finally answered my original question by saying he was not comfortable prescribing that medication. Worst psychiatrist I have ever seen. Seemed completely lacking empathy on top of all the other terrible “care” he provided. I filed a complaint with the medical director of the company he worked for. He no longer works for that entity, and I hope my complaint played a role in that.
