PDF Editor FAQ

Are there any easy ways to tell if a gun is fake, isn't loaded, or the safety is on, for a non-expert?

Take a look, is this a real gun or a fake?If you said fake you would be dead wrong. Is the gun below real or fake?I’ve been handling guns for over 47 years. It is almost impossible to tell a fake gun from a real gun at a glance. Some guns like Glocks, have no external safeties, The safety is built into the trigger. Is the safety on or off on this gun?By the time you figure it out, it may be too late. There are actually two safeties on this pistol. Can you point them out?

Does Ernest W. Adams want to scrap the 2nd Amendment?

I'll let Ernest speak for himself, but I want to make a separate rant here. This question is an effort to divert the real issue, in my view.I know plenty of hunters and target shooters.I know plenty of owners of firearms for home defense.I know plenty of responsible law enforcement officers and military personnel.I want better gun safety. To get better road safety, we required financial responsibility, licensing, registration, safety regulations. They worked. We didn't need to ban cars.I think we can do the same for gun safety.Turning this into a debate about the Second Amendment is a rhetorical trick.I want to save lives and maximize gun safety. That isn't inconsistent with the Second Amendment. And I won't let that false equivalence go unchallenged.

Have you ever said something in an interview that immediately disqualified you from the position?

Yes. During an interview I was asked if all accidents were avoidable. I replied, no. I then went to explain that even the founder of Industrial Safety, Herbert Heinrich, concluded that 2% of all accidents were unavoidable; being at the wrong place at the wrong time. I continued by pointing out that even the best manufactured machinery has a predictable rate of failure. Humans are not machines and they do dumb stuff from time to time. The only way to keep a worker 100% safe would be to pay to have him stay at home in bed.I also went on to explain that safety is a system of assigning risks and determining the level of risk a company is willing to take. Regardless of all the rhetoric, safety is not a company’s number one priority; profit is. Safety is in a symbiotic relationship with budget, time, quality control, planning and estimating. Affect one and the others are effected. As a safety professional, if given the latitude, I could strive to eliminate all safety hazards, but production would drop, the budget would be decimated and the profit gone which would result in the closing of the company.Safety professionals strive to identify risks and reduce or eliminate them where we can, but we are only in an advisory position. We give our input to management and management makes the final call.I did not get the job.
