A recent article in Hindustan Times (Presently taken down ) and other leading National dailies created a buzz about a guy Gopaljee himself calling him as the youngest scientist of India. Here some background about him obtained through his social media handles, you tube videos and his website (Presently taken down).Gopal Jee belongs to Bhagalpur, a city in Bihar. He is 19 years old now. During his school days he has done an invention called "Banana Bio Cell". It is nothing but a simple voltaic cell using banana trunk as an electrolyte medium. He has inserted one Zinc and one Copper plate into a banana trunk and obviously it generated electricity. He has boasted of the so-called discovery to an invention in such a way that this will benefit the banana farmers of the deprived banana farmers who suffer a lot during flood and natural calamities. He presented the same in school science fair and got state and national level attention. After that he continued the research and invented many things like Paper bio battery, Floating Brick, Banana plate, A metal which can withstand 5000 Degree centigrade, A material which reduce the nuclear radiation from 100 years to 5 years . etc. He claims he got patent for two of his inventions (Banana bio cell and Paper bio cell) and all other inventions are under progress. Considering his achievements he says he got a job offer from NASA and higher studies opportunities in Stanford university. Even US president Donald Trump has called him to join NASA. However he rejected all such offers as he wants to work for India. He says Prime minister Narendra Modi has applauded his decision to work for the nation. Now let's do some fact checking of his inventionsHe was maintaining a personal website made through the free website designing service Wix. It was available a few days back, but now it has been taken down. However the cached version of the site is available in Google Cache. The same has been quoted in almost all media as it is. Banana Bio Cell and Paper Bio Cell are patented with respective patent numbers. Even Though Patenting has no connections with a scientific invention or scientific research methodology,no information is available either in Google Patent search or Indian Govt Patent search website regarding this.Some random Google search results show the Banana Bio cell has been patented by some other guys from China years back. In each and every talk show and his motivational speech for school children he only speaks about this Banana Trunk Cell. Now where this banana trunk battery stands? Is it a breakthrough invention? A simple voltaic cell produces electricity and we can see numerous such bio batteries experimented by science enthusiasts. However these things are not fruitful for day to day life or viable to be implemented commercially.All his other inventions such as Goponium Alloy, G-Star Powder, Hydroelectric Bio Cell,Solar Mile, Gopa-alaska, BNC & BNF etc are quoted as "Work in Progress" means all these things are his imaginations only.To substantiate his claims he can't show a single research paper in any of the science and technology journals. In his Wix website he presented some odd websites as proof of his inventions. Those who have a little bit of background in scientific research can very easily recognise that all his claims are fake only.The reporters of leading media such as Dainik Jagaran, Dainik Bhasker, Zee news, DD News etc only considered his words and presented him as an innovator and Youngest Scientist of India. Now he is beautifully utilizing that media presence for self promotion and to get more media presence. We have witnessed such irresponsible media reporting in the past also.Last year one guy from Kerala was in news because he rejected the NASA offer to serve India. All newspapers and TV channels featured him as a national pride. After a few days some individual fact checkers identified him as a fake. Kerala police registered a case against him for misleading the public. The same newspapers shamelessly published that news also.Another fake news recently aired by TV channels and newspapers are about a bus conductor from Bengaluru that he has cleared the UPSC Civil Service Examination. Gopal Jee was one amongst the 1000 participants all over India and was awarded with "Certificate of Participation" by science and technology minister Harsh Vardhan. I've tried to obtain the details of other awards in the respective websites but nothing is available.Stanford University offerHe says he has rejected the offer of Stanford university and wants to research in India. Please go through the screenshot of the email he has presented to show the Stanford university offer.This is just a formal admission enquiry reply from Stanford university. He presents this as a university offer letter. Similar things might have happened in the case of NASA also. If you write a letter to Nasa or some reputed international agencies they may respond to your queries positively and will ask you to furnish more details. NASA even responded to the job application letter of a 9 year kid and a funny letter of a guy who wants to do the Mentos - Coca Cola mix rocket science research.Similarly Nasa might have responded to the mail of Gopal Jee also but the telephone call from Donald Trump !! Nothing to say about thatGopal Jee is now a motivational trainerNow Gopaljee is a B Tech first year student of one Graphic Era university , Uttarakhand yet another Deemed university in India. The Youngest scientist of India is studying in a deemed university that people have not even heard about. Gopal Jee is now taking motivational classes for students. His topic is "How to become a Scientist !!!". His social media hashtags are also funny (Gopal Jee) "#SaveScientist , #YoungestScientist, #SaveIndia….. Etc" . Gopal Jee has photographs with leading personalities like Chetan Bhagat and some Bihar ministers but he forgot to take photograph with Prime Minister Narendra Modi :) and record the call of Donald Trump.We must appreciate Gopal Jee's leadership qualities and communication skills. He has a remarkable future in politics also.
