PDF Editor FAQ

How can we improve the current education system? What are the big issues? What's wrong with it today?

Context of education is key. Sorry, everybody, but we cannot be so myopic as to view 'the educational system' outside of its larger context. We must first view 'the educational system' from a student's personal perspective. Here are my prescriptions to improve the current system, my efforts to name the issues, and my efforts to name why the current system fails.Students live at home. Their home life, for the most part, does not provide what students need to succeed as students. I say this after 20+ years in many communities and home visits around So Cal, trained as a lawyer but instead working as an education advocate/counsel to train parents to advocate for their children's educational needs. I speak English and Spanish, and I have been in the homes of diverse people from many areas of our beautiful City and County of Angels, as well as consulting and visiting homes for clients in other states. I have taught principals, doctors, and social workers and have a perspective to answer this question, and one which is rather unusual, because I have been a witness over time to so many lives and how they are led, and lived. That said, home life must improve in order to be more conducive to learning. There is too much exposure at a young age to media which distracts from human interactions, life experiences--and exposure to media detracts from experiential learning by substituting learned prejudices and biases for conclusions arrived at following personal experience. And too many values are taught on television and social media which parents would probably not choose to teach their children if they thought about it or had the inclination or ability to prevent such exposure (materialism, mean spiritedness, unpleasant language, etc.).Family priorities. Ideally, every parent in the world decides that the education of their children as they define it is their family's most important priority. After safety, health, food, clothing, shelter, and as a means to earn a livelihood--continuing, lifelong education must be stressed. Only then will every student have a family perspective that education is a priority, and act accordingly. Right now, middle school kids spend more time selecting and discussing branded tennis shoes than selecting and reading library books or evaluating and reading content-rich websites.Study space. Ideally, in a family that supports education, every student will have an individual study space dedicated for their school work, homework and projects or similar school-related activities. All study and reading materials are located here, including ample light (full spectrum light is best) for reading and a way to be seated and expressive or to stand and do the same (writing, recording, dancing, singing, performing or ?). There are nonburst balls that are good for kids (and adults) to use in lieu of chairs in front of computers or desks. The nonburst balls used as seats allow us to constantly balance and use our muscles so we are not 'sitting down' so much. The study space grows and the materials in it change as the student's competencies grow, interests change, about every day or two it needs to be inspected by an adult, and everything in it which the child wishes to discuss, explained. Allow students to 'own' and decorate their space just as you would decorate your own desk or office. Do not violate their privacy or violate the space by entering it without permission, as that detracts from the feeling of 'ownership' of the process of learning.Relationships. Like everybody else, a kid needs someone to talk to. For a relationship and any discussion to be successful and reciprocal, students should not be interrogated but instead naturally and spontaneously volunteer information or questions or topics--and actively and enthusiastically want to discuss what it is that interests them. If your child is avoiding your gaze and looking down at the floor when you speak with him or her about school, life, or anything else, then stop the discussion immediately and try again another day. It takes practice to create a good home environment for a child. See this Quora question to understand the best way to talk to kids after school, and why: Why don't kids like to talk about their day when their parents get home?.Teacher relationships. It has been my experience that the vast majority of K-12 students in school learn best and are most motivated within the context of a relationship with their teacher(s). Kids with disabilities including social impacts such as autism are in even greater need for learning how to relate socially. This makes sense since we are mammals, social animals, and work best collaboratively and companionably. For relationships to be motivating and therefore to work best academically, the student needs to be convinced 'my teacher likes me and I like my teacher.' Relationships between students and their teachers are augmented by spending time 1:1 moments in time when learning something complex, and with home visits. A teacher's attention can be a powerful reward, and a serious motivator.Home visits. Only when invited by student and parents, the current education system would be hugely improved if teachers and students and parents met together in each student's home. If this is not feasible, there should be official home visitors to write recommendations after home visits. Any discussion of the home component in education is sorely missing in today's education system. I have often been invited to family homes by my clients. They want me to see how their children live, and to provide my suggestions as to what can be improved in the environment (both familial and physical) to help their child succeed academically. I have never found a situation I could not significantly improve, even with children who 'have nothing' and with children who 'have everything.'Broadcasting of home visits. It would be instructive and shift paradigms in education to capture home visits in media accessible to everyone (and blur for privacy reasons any personally identifying information) to provide information about how to foster an educational environment at home to a broader audience than just one parent benefitting from a home visit. That is, a series of home visits can be filmed to demonstrate the various issues impacting education at home. It would help others learn how to improve, much like television's Dr. Phil televises individuals with issues so that we all can learn how to cope.Tools. Usually the home visits end up helping parents tune into their children's unexpressed academic, social and physical needs. This in turn allows children to develop in ways nobody anticipated: one little girl with dysgraphia ended up wanting to use a fountain pen for calligraphy; one teenaged boy with multiple learning disabilities began jumping rope during one summer following a home visit, and as he lost weight, he gained self-esteem and a sense of increasing self-control. His teachers reported huge academic gains when he returned to school in the autumn. You could say that just getting these kids the things they needed (fountain pen, jump rope) would have done the trick, but that's not the case because the home context is needed in order to figure out which tools will be most useful. Without a home visit it would have been impossible to see that the girl posted over her bed her 'fancy' letters which she illustrated and painstakingly painted, and it would have been impossible to see that the family pantry was stocked with unhealthy foods, the family lived around the always-on television set, and nobody in the family ever exercised.Because different kids need different tools, it is important to consider each human being as a unique individual. That goes without saying, but it is important to understand that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to the question 'how can we improve the current education system?'. Every kid needs the right tools for their interests and abilities. It is up to parents and teachers and grandparents and community members to speak up and do something about it when we see a lack of stimulating tools for kids to use, or an environment needing improvement.Advocacy. There is too much finger-pointing and not enough responsibility-taking when it comes to the topic of 'What are the big issues in education, what's wrong with it, how can we improve it?' If everybody pointed their fingers at themselves and took the initiative to commit to being a daily advocate for a student's needs, then every student would have someone to turn to, someone without a dog in the fight, whenever an academic or social issue arises at school. Each student needs a relationship with someone who can support them emotionally and encourage growth in every manner conceivable.

How different are the Harry Potter movies from the books?

Oooh…lovely question.Spoiler alert: Going to be a long answer. I'm going to mention the moments happened in books which were changed or totally ignored in the movies. So let's start from book 1.Philosopher's StoneHarry had dreams of some flashing green light and even a flying motorbike. Dudley's friend Piers also joined the Dursleys for the zoo.2. Vernon took the Family to a Hotel named Railview to escape the continuous letters from Hogwarts.3. Dudley always roamed around with his Smeltings Stick banging here and there.4. Hagrid stayed with Harry on his birthday night with him waking up the next morning to take him to the Diagon Alley.5. Hagrid was there with Harry at the Ollivander's where Ollivander also greeted him asking about his wand which was snapped in pieces. But actually it was hidden in Hagrid's umbrella.6. Harry met Draco for the first time at Madam Malkin's robe shop where he was about to tell Draco his name before the owner of the shop interrupted them.7. Harry named his Owl Hedwig after reading this name from the book of History of Magic.8. Hagrid never took Harry to the King's cross. He just gave him the train ticket as Harry had one more month to spend at the Dursley's before attending Hogwarts. Dursley's were the one to accompany Harry to the King's cross station on Sept. 1st.9. Fred and George were the first ones to find out the real identity of the skinny boy as The Harry Potter. Molly warned them not to talk to Harry about his parents or the dark lord.10. Hermione mentioned to Harry in the train that she read about Harry before in some of the magic books.11. Malfoy's next meeting with Harry was in the train where he offers Harry to befriend him and Harry rejected.12. Neville's toad was found by Hagrid near the black lake before entering the school premises.13. The sorting hat sings a song before sorting ceremony and this song changes every year.14. The names of the students for the Sorting Ceremony are called by the Alphabetical order of their surnames.15. Peeves was never mentioned in the movies. He was a poltergeist and always created chaos at the school.16. Harry attends the Charms class first in the books.17. Harry and Malfoy arrange a midnight duel. Hermione tried to stop Ron and Harry from going there and when they realized that it was a trap they accidentally went to the room where Fluffy was hidden.18. Hermione used to conjure blue flames in a jar to keep the three of them warm during winters.19. Snape refereed the 2nd match of Quidditch in order to ensure safety of Harry after the happenings of the first match.20. Harry saw his whole family in the Mirror of Erised. When Harry accidentally turned up in Knockturn alley and saw Lucius and Draco Malfoy, he hid himself in a cupboard in Borgin and Burkes where the father and son turned up.7. Arthur Weasley (not Hermione) helped Harry to clear and repair his glasses when Harry reached Diagon alley with Hagrid. When they meet in Diagon Alley, Hermione chides Lucius Malfoy for not using Voldemort's name. (In the first two films, Hermione shows no fear of the name Voldemort, speaking it without difficulty in the first film) In the books, Hermione never uses the name Voldemort until the fifth novel, and even then it requires courage. The films have a bit of a continuity issue on this point as the fifth film shows her getting the courage to say "Voldemort".8. Harry and Ron had peacefully driven the car until they reached Hogwarts. They never were chased by the Hogwarts Express or Harry was not thrown outside the car, hanging in the mid air.9. And sorting hat again said that Harry would have really done well in Slytherin.23. Ron was the one to point out that hearing voices even in the wizarding world isn't a good sign.24. Harry talked about Lily and James death to Slughorn to the extent.65. According to Dumbledore's guess work he worked out that the cup, and the locket were the horcruxes too. Even he mentioned that he thinks that now Nagini was also one of the horcruxes. As Gaunt's and Hokey's memories were cut off from the movies, it was unclear.66. Harry was tailing Draco using the Marauder's Map until he saw Draco inside the Boy's bathroom on the sixth floor. He overheard Draco crying and saw that he was accompanied by Moaning Myrtle.67. Harry hid the Half-blood Prince book in the Room of requirement dreading the consequences if Snape got the hold of the book. He even glanced a dummy wearing a crown like thing in there. He took Ron's potions book in which Ron wrote his name with the spell check quills bought from his brother's joke shop. The spell check quiz instead messed up with the spellings which resulted Ron's name in the Potions book to spell as Roonil Walzib. When Snape asked Harry about the unusual name, Harry lied that it was his new nickname. This incident took place in Moaning myrtle's bathroom after Malfoy went bloody to the Hospital wing.68. Ginny kisses Harry after he comes back from the Quidditch match with the Quidditch cup in the Common room in front of everyone.69. Dumbledore and Harry (who was under the invisibility cloak) walk till the Hog's Head in the village of Hogsmeade, from where they Disapparate to the cave.72. Literally a war took place in the castle during Dumbledore's death between the order members, professors and the death eaters.78. Bill Weasley here got attacked by Greyback. Harry tried to use the Cruciatus Curse on Snape.79. Harry opened the false locket when he was sitting by the deceased Dumbledore, noticing it was smaller than the one seen in the memory (omitted from the film), and lacks the distinct Slytherin "S" symbol. He then opened it, and held the note to the light made by the school staff and students, and read it. Dumbledore appeared to be bleeding from his mouth after being killed, and Harry wiped off the blood with his (Harry's) own sleeve as he knelt by the headmaster's body. Fawkes after some time started singing, grieving for Dumbledore.80. Ginny took Harry to the Hospital wing where Bill with a scar face laid on the bed. And here Fleur fought with Molly that she still was going to marry Bill. Here, Harry got to know that Tonks insisted on marrying Remus for a long time.81. A debate took place in the Headmaster's office whether to bury Dumbledore's body in the Grounds of Hogwarts or not.82. The whole funeral ceremony takes place with mourning song by merepeople and Centaurs paying respect to Dumbledore.83. Harry takes help of Kreacher and Dobby to get to know about the whereabouts of Malfoy during the whole book. Finally, The Deathly Hallows1. The movie pretty much begins with Harry leaving Number 4 Private Drive for the final time, with members of the Order of the Phoenix and Hogwarts school friends alike coming to help him get away. However, as they take to their skies with six others disguised as Harry, a fight with Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters breaks out.In the book, they're able to spot the real Potter after he uses Expelliarmus on Stan Shunpike. Yet this is changed for the movie, with Hedwig's loyalty of him giving him away instead.2. In the Deathly Hallows novel, Harry and Hagrid land at Nymphadora Tonks' house before going to The Burrow. The Order of the Phoenix's thinking was that it's best to split them up so that, worst case scenario, there will be at least some survivors. Even Harry spotted Andromeda Tonks (Nymphadora’s Mother)there and mistook her to be Bellatrix due to her resemblance with her sister. But then he realized that Andromeda had brownish hair and she had pretty much kind and warm expression on her face if compared to Bellatrix. But the movie has everyone going straight to The Burrow, with Harry and Hagrid crash landing in their back garden. This probably saved Warner Bros a ton of location money as a result. In the book the members of Order even had an argument with Harry in the burrow when he told them that his wand worked on it’s own during his fight with Voldemort and others disbelieved him as a wand never works on its own accord.3. After getting to The Burrow, Harry has his mind taken off his ongoing battle against Lord Voldemort because of Fleur Delacour and Billy Weasley's wedding. Molly tries her best to keep the trio busy and not letting them meet each other as she doubts that they are upto something about Voldemort. Fleaur's family members visit at the burrow for the wedding where Ginny gets jealous with Gabrielle Delacour as she continuously tries to glace at Harry. When it comes to the main event, the blockbuster shows Harry wandering around freely as himself without a care in the world. Things are different in the source material, though, with the Boy Who Lived using Polyjuice to conceal his appearance. He becomes a red-headed Muggle boy (Barry Weasley, another cousin of Weasleys), with Fred and George Weasley secretly obtaining the hairs without the boy knowing.4. After fleeing the wedding in the movie, Harry, Ron and Hermione all end up taking refuge at Grimmauld Place, despite the risk that Severus Snape and his fellow Death Eaters could burst in at any moment. It's only the trio who are ever there - not including the weird, cursed Albus Dumbledore trap.In the book, however, Remus Lupin goes there. He begs Harry, Ron and Hermione into letting him join them on their quest to defeat Voldemort, despite having a child on the way and being with Nymphadora Tonks. A row breaks out between him and Harry and Lupin leaves, but he's barely in the film at all. Even Kreacher was changed and became more kind towards the trio after Harry gifted Kreacher the fake Slytherin’s locket as a memorial of his late Master Regulus Black. The story of Regulus Black being death eater, him becoming aware of his mistake, Voldemort making Kreacher to drink the potion in order to hide the Slytherin’s locket in the cave, R.A.B replacing the fake locket with the actual Slytherin’s locket and his death in the hands of infery was omitted from the movie.5. Harry, Ron and Hermione make breaking into the Ministry of Magic look relatively easy during the movie. It's almost as if they thought of the plan and then decided to execute it immediately on the same day.But this is different in the source material as well. It takes them a long time and lots of planning before they muster up the courage to make the trip into the very place who wants them dead the most. Before leaving the Grimmauld place, Hermione takes Phineas Nigellus Black’s Picture frame in her ever extendible bag as she finds it dangerous to leave it there as a proof for the Death eaters to find them. After a while, during their run they use the frame to get the whereabouts of the Dumbledore’s army.6. Harry and Hermione sadly look over the remains of Godric's Hollow. And what makes it that much more tragic is that there's a tribute and mural to James and Lily Potter with messages of support from many members of the magical community. This leads Harry into shedding a few tears and, had it made the movie, the same could be said for audience members.7. One thing the movie changed from the books that we really, really like is the touching dance scene between Harry and Hermione inside their tent while on the run. It's genuinely poignant as they waltz around, smiling and bringing some genuine happiness to a dark movie in the process. It also makes Ron's Horcrux vision, when he sees the duo kissing, more sympathetic. His feelings of jealousy are understandable but misplaced, with Harry's heart belonging to Ginny. In the book though, Hermione spends sleepless silent weeping nights thinking that Harry was unable to hear her weeps. There were days and nights in a row that they both didn’t even utter a word with each other.8. Harry and Hermione are reunited with Ron in the movie when he comes to the Boy Who Lived's rescue by defeating Lord Voldemort's Locket Horcrux. A little while after, however, they're captured by Snatchers. In the big screen version of the Deathly Hallows this is dragged out a bit, with Warner Bros choosing to make it an action-packed scene instead, full of running, spell-casting and avoiding running into trees. They have a lot less time in the book, though, with Hermione only just managing to disguise Harry quickly.9. That isn't the only difference when it comes to Snatchers. In the book, Dean Thomas is also captured and brought with Harry, Ron and Hermione to Malfoy Manor for interrogation at the hands of Bellatrix Lestrange - although he's shoved in the cellar for the most part. Hermione was tortured by Bellatrix using Cruciatus curse on her. Mudblood was NOT carved on her arm. Ron was literally panicking and shouting inside the cellar while hearing Hermione’s tortured screams.10. While the Harry Potter movies do a good job at managing to cram in pretty much every shocking and emotional death, they somewhat bizarrely chose to omit Peter Pettigrew's fatal incident. The movie shows him being cursed by Harry and Ron as they plot to break free of the cellar at Malfoy Manor. What it doesn't show, though, is Pettigrew's own silver hand (the one given to him by Lord Voldemort in the Goblet of Fire), choking him to death. It does this because he hesitates in serving his master, showing just how ruthless, callous and organized the Dark Lord can be.11. The movie begins at Shell Cottage, the home of the recently-married Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour. The previous instalment had ended with the death of Dobby and Harry, along with Ron, Hermione and Griphook the Goblin, waste no time in plotting their break-in on Gringotts. In the book, though, there's some light among the darkness. Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks have a child named Teddy Lupin, with Harry being given the responsibility of being godfather. This is all cut from the film, though, with Teddy never being mentioned and Lupin and Tonks only appearing during the Battle of Hogwarts. The trio spends weeks to plot the Gringott breakin with Griphook. Fleaur and Bill doesn’t pretty like Griphooks’s behaviour but still let him be at their home. Bill even warn Harry for working with Griphook as Goblins can’t be trusted by wizards. Ollivander was sent to his home safely afterwards and even Luna made a great bond with Ollivander in the mean time. The trio with Griphook silently leave the Shell Cottage for Gringotts under the Cloak leaving a letter for Bill and Fleaur informing their start of next run for Voldemort. In the Vault of Lestrange the possessions were spell bound in a way that they will be doubled with the human touch (which is ofcourse in the movies) but they even cause burns on the skin of the one touching them.12. Harry, Ron and Hermione decide they need to get to Hogwarts following their successful assault on Bellatrix Lestrange's Gringotts vault - and opt to do so via Hogsmeade. They set off the alarm, though, and Aberforth Dumbledore comes to their rescue. Aberforth then tells the trio about his, Dumbledore’s and Grindlewald’s past and about Ariana’s death. He even confronts the death eathers by lying that the 4 legged patronus they saw was his goat and not Harry’s Stag.In the blockbuster, Aberforth makes references to Dumbledore's shady past, implying that he let his own greed get in the way of looking after his sister Ariana. The source material, though, has a far deeper story. Ariana was attacked by Muggles and, years later, dies in the middle of a fight between Albus and Gellert Grindelwald.13. Ah, this is a scene we really wished had been included. In JK Rowling's novel, Harry asks the hogwarts students about a valuable possession of Ravenclaw as Ron suggests him to let the others help him find the Ravenclaw’s possession. Cho then tells Harry about the lost Diadem and asks him to let her help him go to the Ravenclaw Common room. Ginny then makes Luna to go with Harry and tells Cho that Luna will help Harry out. Harry and Luna Lovegood sneak into Ravenclaw tower as they hunt for a Diadem that had been turned into a Horcrux by Lord Voldemort. Death Eater Amycus Carrow suspects this, though, and goes to try and stop them.Harry and Luna manage to hide under the invisibility cloak and Carrow's screams alert Minerva McGonagall, who goes there. When Carrow spits in her face, however, Harry leaps into action and knocks him out with Cruciatus curse and then realizes Bellatrix’s saying that a person must really mean to hurt the other while using the cruciatus curse. That, certainly, would have been awesome to see.14. The destruction of Helga Hufflepuff’s cup in the books was not mentioned as the whole plot was from Harry’s POV. But Harry meets Ron and Hermione after a long time after he departs from the ROR with Luna to the Ravenclaw common room. There he gets to know that the Cup is destroyed by Hermione and they even got a couple of Basilisk fangs with them from the Chamber too. Here is the moment when Ron says that they should help the house elves out from there as they don’t want more of Dobby’s, do they and Hermione drops the fangs from her hand, jumps on Ron and Kisses him making him kiss her back. Harry gets annoyed by the situation and yells “Is this the moment? Oiii!! There’s a war going on here.” and they depart.15. How we wish Fred Weasley had survived. His death is tinkered with for the movie version of the story, showing a witch standing over him. This gives the impression that he was killed in combat. It's different in the book, though, with Fred perishing when an explosion hits Hogwarts hard. He dies with a smile on his face, and with recently-redeemed Percy by his side. Perhaps it's for the best they altered it - it would have probably made audiences weep even more than they already did.16. When Harry watches Snape’s memories in the Pensieve he watches Snape talking to Headmaster Dumbledore’s picture frame about Harry, their plan of making Mundungus Fletcher to become the one to suggest the idea of seven potters to the order, Phineas Nigellus Black telling them about the whereabouts of the trio, Snape departing to plae the sword of Griffindor near the place where the trio was staying.16. In the original version of the story, Voldemort freezes Neville before placing the flaming Sorting Hat on his head. This, obviously, would be excruciating and agony to bare. Instead, the movie merely shows the Dark Lord sending him flying in a fit of rage when he discovers Harry is alive - despite casting the killing curse at him for a second time. Voldemort makes Hagrid to put Harry near his feet when he was unconscious. Hagrid does so and when the right time striked, Harry slowly took invisibility cloak out of his coat and disappears. He mysteriously sends curses and strikes the death eaters while hiding under the cloak. Voldemort then realizes that Harry’s Body was gone. The deleted scene from the movies that Malfoy helped Harry by throwing his wand towards Harry didn’t happen in books. Everyone in the school realizes that Harry’s alive when Harry protects Molly from Voldemort’s Death curse after Molly killed Bellatrix. He takes off his cloak in front of everyone.17. Bellatrix Lestrange is a repulsive character and, while we wouldn't wish harm on anybody, let's just say that she deserved her comeuppance at Molly Weasley's hand. In the movie she dies via a bizarre old curse that sees her age before combusting into loads of small black bits. But it's better-handled in the book. Mrs Weasley's curse strikes her in the chest and she dies with a laughing look on her face, echoing the same death of her cousin, Sirius Black, who was killed by the Death Eater in the Order of the Phoenix two years before.18. It would have been awesome to see his three-way duel with Minerva McGonagall, Horace Slughorn and Kingsley Shacklebolt. It would have been extra good to see Slughorn fighting the man he once taught when the villain was Tom Riddle. Alas, it wasn't to be. Even Ron was the one to kill Greyback along with Neville.19. Voldemort dies in the courtyard in the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 movie. We assume everybody else is fighting each other in the magical castle itself - because there's absolutely nobody around. He disintegrates after his killing curse ends up consuming him thanks to some trickery involving the Elder wand. But, in the book, he dies in front of everyone inside the Great Hall. People stand around and watch his and Harry's final confrontation - and then mob the Boy Who Lived afterwards in a moment of sheer, magical triumph.20. The movie shows Lucius Malfoy, Narcissa Malfoy and Draco Malfoy all fleeing from the scene towards the end of the Battle of Hogwarts, never to be seen again. In the source material, though, they're actually present at Hogwarts for the post-war celebrations. And that's not the only thing that's altered. Warner Bros chose to skip any mention of Kingsley Shacklebolt becoming emergency Minister of Magic, the Death Eaters being rounded up and the innocents being freed from Azkaban. The movie actually ends rather abrupty but, despite that, it's still one of the series' best entires.22. While there are many people president for the Battle of Hogwarts, there are also plenty of people who don't pop up in the movie - but do in the books.Colin Creevey, Augusta Longbottom, Ted Tonks, Grawp, Oliver Wood, Charlie Weasley and much, much more are all present. Even the House Elves of Hogwwarts helped in the War by fighting the death eaters. Sadly Colin Creevey died in the battle.23. The trio went to the Headmaster’s office after the war. There Harry mentions to Dumbledore’s frame that he dropped the resurrection stone in the forest and he wants to place the Elder Wand back in Dumbledore’s Tomb. Harry uses Elder wand to repair his broken Pheonix feather core wand successfully.24. Like the movies, it never actually pains Harry or Voldemort after a horcrux is destroyed. Actually Voldemort don’t even realize it that Harry was after his horcruxes until he got to know about the Hufflepuff’s cup’s theft from the Gringotts. He then panics and think about the Horcrux in the Hogwarts and starts to check his each and every horcrux’s safety. As Harry was able to read Voldemort’s mind, he get to know that the last Horcrux is at Hogwarts and it belongs to Ravenclaw after he jumps off from the giant dragon which they rode to escape from Gringotts.25. Ron and Hermione never knew that Harry was supposed to die as Harry never met them after he saw the truth through Snape's memories in the Pensieve. He just chose not to meet them and silently go to the forbidden forest as he knew that they would never let him go to his death. He met Neville on his way to the forest. Neville sensed Harry near him as Harry was under his invisibility cloak. Harry told Neville that in case Neville sees a giant snake with Voldemort he was supposed to kill or slash it as it's important and Neville says that he'll keep this in mind.26. Neville tells Harry that his grandmother was on a run too as she hit a death eater badly while they came to her to interrogate her.27. In the epilogue, Lily Luna Potter discovers Teddy Tonks kissing a girl in the station and tells this to her parents. After which Ginny says that let him be.Thankyou for scrolling with such patience but I tried to mention almost every difference here. Hope you liked it and plz upvote.Thankyou.

Talk to your parents or guardians about your plans and what you want. They'll listen and will help you decide what's best for your individual situation. Maybe, they even know of a few ways to help you on you're way...you never know unless you ask and parental support is so important. Above all, your parents/guardians want to ensure your safety, because let's face it, sometimes the world out there is a scary place with some less than stellar people who may have ill intentions toward you. It's your parents/guardians job to help ensure your safety.Next, your age comes into play. If you are 16 or older living in the USA, then you are of legal age to work part time (20 or fewer hours per week - but never sacrifice your education/grades for a few bucks because it is never worth it in the end). At 16 or older, you can go to common teen employers such as coffee shops, fast food or other restaurants, bowling alleys, grocery stores, or etc. Expect to make minimum wage (which I believe is currently $7.25/hr) or very close to it because right now you lack the skills and experience to earn more, but don't worry because that will all come with time.If you are under 16, then you will not be able to work for a business as I mentioned above, but there are other things that you can do...again, with parent/guardian permission and support. Yard work for family, friends, and neighbors is usually a great place to start. Depending on the time of year, that could mean mowing, raking, general yard clean up, or shoveling. Right now it's winter, so if you don't mind bundling up and braving the cold and snow, then there are walkways and driveways that you could offer to shovel for a small price. Depending on the length of the area that needs to be shoveled, you can expect to earn anywhere from $5 (for a very short walkway) to around $20 (for an average driveway). In theory, if you shoveled 5 driveways, then you could expect around $100. Sure, it's a lot of work, but never be afraid to get your hands dirty and dig in. You'll earn more than just money, you'll also earn the respect of those around you and that will carry you a long way.Depending on age, you could also offer babysitting services, dog walking services, and outside window cleaning. When I was growing up paper routes were popular - you could check with your local paper company. Talk to your parents/guardians, they may know of a close friend or family member that would be happy to part with a few bucks for a little extra help.If you offer a service to friends/family/neighbors, with parental permission, create some flyers to pass out to them letting them know what you are offering. That may be even more effective and will get you started on the road to a small entrepreneurship all your own. Finally, and most important above all is safety. Never, never, never enter the home of someone you either do not know or who you don't know well and always let your parents/guardians know exactly where you will be andwhen they can expect you home. This may seem mundane, but believe me, in a crisis, this could be crucial information for them to have.Online Side Hustling IdeasFor most people, an online side hustle is the easiest way to get started; you can find free WiFi a lot of places and the startup costs are minimal.1. Doing this will give you an idea of what you might want to do for the rest of your life.Plus, you may really enjoy something on this list that you thought you would've hated. Or you may be really good at something you thought you would've sucked at.The job market can be a tough place for a teenager, but, with a little resilience and ingenuity, you can find several ways to make money. Aside from browsing your options with employers who are known for hiring teens, you should also think about opportunities to become an independent contractor of sorts, a budding entrepreneur who sells wares or provides services all on your own. Whether you think you want a basic summer lifeguard gig or to start your own landscaping business, make sure you explore your options beforehand in order to find the one that suits you best.Method1Doing Odd JobsImage titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 11Babysit for friends and family. One of the best ways for teenagers to make money without spending anything and help out in the community is babysitting. If you’re responsible and you like children, consider giving it a try! Ask family friends who have young children if they need any help with childcare and start developing a client base. You can start by getting CPR certified and taking some basic first aid classes in order to make your new employers feel more confident leaving their kids with you. Community centers, hospitals, and local Red Cross chapters often offer these courses for free or at discounted rates.[1]If you don’t have any prior experience taking care of children and your new clients are nervous about this deficiency, ask them if you could have a probation period. The first few times you babysit, you can do so when a parent is home and available to supervise.Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 22Do yard work. Many people are too busy for basic yard maintenance, but they don’t want their homes to look unkempt or neglected. These people are often more than willing to pay someone to mow the lawn, rake leaves, or trim hedges, especially if they can hire a neighborhood teen or family friend. Start by asking your friends and family if they need help, and, if you don’t get enough business, post some signs around the neighborhood offering your services. In the winter, you can shovel driveways and sidewalks for people in your neighborhood. You can also consider teaming up with friends or family members to do numerous landscaping and maintenance tasks. You’ll have to split the proceeds, but you’ll also get done more quickly.Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 33Do household cleaning chores. Since you're a part of the family, you should already be pitching in to the keep the household in shape, but you can ask your parents if you can take on additional responsibilities for a reasonable fee. After all, chances are that your parents already have a lot of daily tasks and worries, so they would appreciate the help. You can negotiate your compensation by asking for half of what a professional cleaner would charge. You could also do other people's yardwork and get money. Some experts recommend that parents and teens can also benefit from negotiating rates based on performance. So, for example, you could agree on $30 for an adequate job cleaning out the garage and gutters. If you exceed expectations and do a stellar job, though, you could agree that you'll receive a pay hike to $40 or $50. Such a plan incentives your work while teaching you a better work ethic.[2]Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 44Run errands for an elderly person. A lot of senior citizens have mobility or dexterity issues, so they can find it difficult doing some basic daily tasks. If you know any elderly people in your area, ask them if you can help them out by getting groceries, moving furniture, fixing computer problems, or watering plants. Just be sure that your arrangement is up-front on both sides: the last thing you want is to do work thinking you’ll be paid while the other person considers your efforts a favor done out of kindness. For example, if your grandparents host a bridge party every week, ask if you can come over next time they meet in order to offer your services to their friends. They can prepare their friends by letting them know that you're trying to earn some extra cash, and you can give a sales pitch when everyone is gathered.Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 55Walk dogs in your neighborhood. While most people enjoy walking their dogs, they’re often too busy to do so during the day. Their dogs’ welfare is important to them, though, so they are willing to shell out some real cash for someone to take them for walks and exercise. So, if you like dogs and have a lot of energy, put your interests and enthusiasm to good, monetary use!Becoming a part-time walker is easy than ever now with the advent of mobile apps for job seekers. You can sign up for a variety of mobile apps, such as Wag! or Rover, which connect available dog walkers to needy clients.[3]Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 66Tutor your schoolmates. If you’re a particularly strong student, find out what your school’s rules are regarding paid tutoring. You may not be able to work or advertise on campus, but that doesn’t mean you can’t work privately with another student at a public library or one of your houses, for example. You can also try to sign up for an online service like WizIQ or Tutor Hub that connects you to other students needing tutors. Many of these sites require a high school diploma, but others are more flexible about their stipulations.[4]Don’t give up on this idea just because you’re not a brainiac! If you’re very good at a sport, musical instrument, or hobby like carpentry, you can get paid for private lessons.Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 77Advertise your services. No matter which odd jobs you decide to do in order to earn money, it’s essential that you get the word out! You can place a cheap ad in the newspaper or hand out some flyers, but it’s probably easier—and often free!—to advertise online. Think about placing ads on http://craigslist.org or boosting awareness for your start-up on your personal social media pages and feeds. You’ll be surprised how many people in your personal circle need help with chores and other basic odd jobs, so put some feelers out and see what happens.Once your odd job service is off the ground and running, you can think about creating separate social media accounts for your services like a small business would do.[5]As always, you need to be particularly careful about advertising or doing any other business online. Make sure your parents are aware and approve of all the ads and forums you’re using—for example, if you’re advertising on Instagram and Facebook, make sure your parents know about both of these social media portals and can help you regulate them—and have them come with you if you’re going somewhere to mow lawns or babysit for the first time.Method2Finding Work OnlineImage titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 81Sell stock photos. If you have a decent camera and know how to compose an image, try taking stock photos and selling them online. They don’t usually make much per sale, but remember that you're also developing a useful skill and a relaxing hobby. Plus, if you put a lot of time and practice into it, you can actually end up making quite a round sum of money.[6]There are a number of stock photo agencies that purchase photos online, so don’t give up if you’re rejected from the first place you go. Companies like Shutterstock, Dreamstime, and iStock are some of the biggest buyers, but you could also check out boutique agencies once you get good.Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 92Check out mobile apps that pay you for running errands. If you have a smartphone, you can find a number of apps that hook you up with local businesses or people who need small tasks done for paid compensation. Not all the tasks pay very well, but they’re usually easy—for example, a business or marketing research company might pay you to take a picture of yourself at a certain establishment—and you can look at it like a kind of adventure or scavenger hunt.[7]GigWalk, WeReward, and CheckPoints are some examples of this kind of app, but there are many more out there, so browse around and experiment with different ones! Just make sure that the program accepts teens before signing up.Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 103Do online surveys. Marketing research is very important for big businesses, and paid survey sites are one of the many ways firms complete this research. Most of the surveys are quick and painless, and you can do them from the comfort of your own home. Take some time to search for a reliable site—or sites—that doesn’t require a registration fee and accepts teen participants.[8]Filling out surveys isn’t the most lucrative online earner—the average wage surveys is $7.00-$8.00 an hour but it’s easy and stable work. You can also participate in paid marketing research focus groups. Unlike online surveys, these focus groups meet in person and pay between $50.00 and $150.00 an hour.[9]Websites like SwagBucks, SurveyJunkie, or SurveySavvy offer money per survey, rather than after a set amount. The average amount earned for each Survey in Survey Junkie is around $0.50 for each survey.Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 114Start a YouTube channel. You can earn money from uploading videos on free services like YouTube because of the advertisements it plays before and during popular content. While there are millions of users and competing channels, don’t get discouraged before you try it out! After all, many of the most successful YouTube stars started out as teenagers looking to make a few extra bucks while having some fun. Just make sure that you keep your parents abreast of what content you're putting up and have them help you handle user comments in order to stay safe.[10]While fashion vlogs and video game walkthroughs are perhaps the most common types of content on YouTube, don't feel limited to this arena. If you like to pull pranks on family members or put on living room skit or comedy shows, consider filming them and putting them up on your channel! You could also form a YouTube book club or fan group where you lead discussions about your favorite novels, music, and movies. You can start with your laptop’s basic webcam and home lighting, but as you strive for higher quality and production value, you’ll probably need to invest in a better camera, editing equipment, and professional lighting.Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 125Participate in local studies. Many universities and pharmaceutical companies pay people to take part in studies or clinical trials. Some of these studies take up an afternoon, while others will require a longer term commitment, so make sure to read all the conditions and requirements beforehand. To find current trials and apply for them, check online classifieds sites as well as official university and clinic websites. Most clinical trials will not be open to teenagers, but you can find some if you search for teen studies in particular. Just be sure to ask your parents for their approval, as they will need to sign off on the trial should you be accepted into one.Method3Selling Crafts and Household ItemsImage titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 131Organize a yard sale. Even if you don’t have anything valuable to sell, your family probably has some stuff lying around the house or garage that is just taking up extra space. Ask your parents if they’d be willing to clean out some old junk and let you collect the proceeds as long as you do the grunt work. If they say yes, empty out your closet, attic, or basement and advertise your sale around the neighborhood.Even though it may seem odd, don’t price anything! People often start bartering at prices which far exceed what you had been expecting, so let an interested buyer name a price before you say anything.[11]You can make a little extra at a yard sale by offering cheap beverages or snacks. If it’s nice weather, offer lemonade or soda; if it’s cold out, offer hot tea or cider.Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 142Take old clothes to thrift shops. While charity shops like Salvation Army take clothes on donation, other for-profit thrift and consignment stores pay money in exchange for used items of clothing. Gather up any articles of clothing and accessories which you don’t use or like anymore and take them to a local recycled fashion store like Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads. The store attendants might not purchase your items if they’re out of fashion or in poor condition, but you can always donate the refused items to a charity shop.Make sure you wash the items before offering them to the store, as their cleanliness and condition will influence the shop’s consideration and evaluation of your clothes.Consignment is your best option for articles of designer clothing. You don’t get any money up front, but you’ll get a higher cut of the proceeds once the item sells.[12]Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 153List collectibles or unused items in online classifieds. If you have any big-ticket items like valuable collectibles which you are willing to part with, you can auction them on websites like eBay. Unlike the random passersby who come by yard sales, you’ll find people who are specifically interested in what you’re selling and thus willing to pay a higher price. The most important thing about listing your items online is including good photographs of your wares. Buyers won't take the risk if they can't see a high-quality, detailed image of what they're bidding on, so use a nice camera and good lighting to capture your inventory before listing.[13]Make sure to talk about Craigslist-transaction safety with your parents beforehand and have your parents present if you’re doing an in-person transaction.Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 164Make crafts to sell. If you’re good with your hands and you enjoy art class, try making your own crafts that you can sell online. You can make friendship bracelets, beaded jewelry, origami, or silk-screened T-shirts, depending on the equipment you have and how much money you have upfront to pay for materials. Start by advertising your new storefront and crafts on your personal social media and by word of mouth to friends and family.Browse around Etsy for a while to see what kind of options you have and what kind of crafts seem to sell particularly well on the site. Doing your research first can save you some valuable time and costly mistakes.[14]Eventually, you’ll want to be charging about twice what you spent on materials and production, but you’ll probably want to start pricing at more moderate levels so you can start building a customer base.[15]If you’re not sure you want to go all-in with an online store, try making some seasonal crafts during the holidays that are easy and require minimal investment. For example, you can gather mistletoe and/or pinecones, tie them into bunches with ribbons and cheap bells, and sell them as decorations. If it goes well and you enjoy the process, think about opening a more permanent storefront.Method4Taking a Service Industry JobImage titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 171Check with local grocery stores for openings. Many grocery stores take teenager employees as baggers or stockers, and these kinds of jobs can be good experience for your budding resume. You won’t be paid much more than minimum wage, but the money will be steady and consistent, as long as you show up for your shifts and become a reliable worker for your employer. Chances are, you’ll also get to work and hang out with other like-minded teens. Just make sure you can stand on your feet for several hours at a time, as bagging and stocking are both somewhat physically demanding.[16]If you don’t have a car, make sure the store is within walking distance, or that your parents or siblings are willing to give you regular rides to work. If you do have a car, make sure you’re factoring gas money into your calculations of how much money you’ll be earning.Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 182Become a busser at a restaurant. While most restaurants require servers and bar staff to be over 18 or 21 years old, many do hire teenagers as bussers, food runners, or delivery drivers. In these jobs, you have less interaction with the customers, but you gain valuable experience in the restaurant industry and often receive a cut of the servers’ tips. It’s also a physically demanding job as you should expect to be on your feet for the duration of a shift, so keep in mind any mobility issues you may have.Working in a restaurant also has some safety hazards such as slipping and burns, so make sure you go over proper safety regulations before you begin working and that you receive proper training from your employer.[17]Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 193Work at a fast food restaurant. It’s not the most glamorous job on earth, but the fast food industry is one of the biggest employers of teenagers in the world. The work is fairly easy, but you should be prepared for a high-pressure environment during peak business hours. Also, be aware that some economists and workers’ rights advocates claim that teens should avoid the fast food industry at all costs. They cite the lack of benefits, rights, and education as ways which employers take advantage of their young employees, so do your research before taking a job in this field.[18]Like other restaurant jobs, there are some workplace hazards you should be aware of ahead of time. Slipping, burns, and cuts are all possible problems you’ll encounter, as well as potential hearing damage from drive-thru headsets.[19]Image titled Make Money (for Teenagers) Step 204Ask for openings at recreational facilities. Places like movie theaters, amusement parks, swimming pools, and YMCAs pull a lot of their employment pool from the teen age group, so consider doing something in this field if there’s one available locally.[20] You’ll need to undergo some training and swimming qualifications if you’re trying to be a lifeguard, but many of the other opportunities don’t require any kind of prior experience. Also think about seasonal opportunities like summer camps and haunted houses. These jobs hire a lot of teenagers, can be a great way to broaden your social circle, and are almost guaranteed to give you some wild stories![21]Take surveysHow To Make Money - A Guide For Teens - SwagbucksBelieve it or not, you can make money taking surveys. Swagbucks is the best-known survey site, providing users with points to their favorite retailers for completing surveys, watching videos, or searching the web. The company has given out more than $330 million to teens and adults to date. While Swagbucks may be the most popular way of taking surveys, it’s not the only one. TreasureTrooper, VIP Voice, Toluna, and Survey Junkie have positions for teens looking for a side hustle. Some of the sites have referral programs, where you can make some extra cash by having friends sign up for the service.ou must be at least 13 years old to join. For example, Swagbucks lets you invite your friends to join and you’ll earn 0.10% of whatever they earn, whenever they earn it. So if a friend earns 500 Swagbucks in a day, Swagbucks will give you 50 Swagbucks (10%) because you referred them.Stream on TwitchBelieve it or not, many people make a living by playing video games and streaming their gameplay on the Twitch platform. For example, Twitch streamer Jeremy ‘DisguisedToast’ Wang makes about $20,000 per month, depending on his viewership and the games he’s playing. But know that not everyone makes that kind of money. To get started, you’ll need to be good at playing video games that people want to watch other people play (think Fortnite, for instance). You’ll need a webcam and either a computer capable of playing demanding video games, or a current-gen system like the Xbox One. From there, you simply sign up for a Twitch account and begin playing video games. Depending on how many people subscribe to your channel to watch you play will determine if and how much money you will make.Gaming competitionsIf you’re a competitive gamer, you can make a decent side income with gaming competitions. For most people, it won’t be a full-time salary, but if you win gaming tournaments for games like Call of Duty or Fortnite, for instance, you can earn some big money. There are plenty of people who are examples of this. Bizzle makes over $300,000 playing in Fortnite gaming competitions, for instance. Suppose you’re good at some of these competitive games. In that case, you can probably make the most money playing in competitions (versus just streaming your gameplay on Twitch). Just remember that you’ll need to win consistently to earn a lot.Sell in-game itemsFor nearly every online multiplayer game that I can think of, such as Call of Duty, the most elusive items (like special weapons) are also tricky to find. To find these items, many people spend hundreds of hours scouring the game online. So as a teen, if you can muster up that kind of time, there’s a real market for these hard-to-find items. You can sell them on third-party marketplaces as well as Steam Wallet. Just know that with Steam Wallet, you can’t convert those “dollars” into real money.Fortnite, DOTA 2, and Counterstrike: Global Offensive are all reasonably popular in terms of sellable items. DOTA 2 and Counterstrike allow you to sell found items outside of the in-game interface, too, on sites such as Loot Market. One thing to make sure of, though, is that you’re not getting scammed (which is relatively easy to do in this market). Unless you have a lot of experience selling in-game items, I would stick to smaller items to start, and even consider selling your Steam items right through their platform (even though you can’t get actual cash from this).Start a blogThis isn’t a post about making money blogging, so know that I will scratch the surface here intentionally. The first thing you have to realize is that blogging isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme. It takes time and discipline if you want to make actual money from it.For example, two of my money-making blogs took well over a year, and over 100 well-researched articles to even start making any money. Yes, there are exceptions, but in most cases, you should plan on writing at least every week for a year before you start to build an audience and make money. To start a blog, you’ll need a domain name and hosting – at a bare minimum. You can look for a domain name on sites like Namecheap and NameMesh, and you can find hosting through sites like Bluehost or SiteGround. Once your site is up and running, you can start blogging and building an audience. The most common ways to make money on blogs are through advertisements (think Google Ads) and affiliate marketing – which is when you link out to another product and get a commission if someone buys it (think Amazon). You can also make money through memberships, creating your own products (like a course), offering consulting services, or having sponsored posts on your site (when a person or company pays you to write on your blog – usually to drive business to their company).Either way, it’s a long journey, but if you stick to it, you can make some real cash from a blog.Get paid to walkBelieve it or not, you can get paid to walk by using apps. One example is SweatCoin – which pays you to take walks outside. The way it works is relatively simple. When you take 1,000 steps outdoors, SweatCoin gives you 0.95 SweatCoins. Think of these coins like a cryptocurrency. You can then redeem your SweatCoins right in the app for rewards. While you can’t convert your SweatCoins directly to cash, you can exchange them for things you’d otherwise spend some money on, such as gift cards or other products. The lineup of rewards changes every day, so make sure you save your SweatCoins for a reward that really piques your interest.Another app to consider is Runtopia. Runtopia is geared toward those who not only want rewards but also want to improve their fitness level. The app lets you set exercise goals for things like cycling, walking, and running. There’s also an audio coach you can play while doing one of these exercises, which is pretty cool. While you’re doing your workouts through the Runtopia app, you can complete tasks or participate in a community. By doing this, you’ll earn what they call Sports Coins. You can then redeem those points for things like discounts, PayPal cash, products, and free memberships. The way I see it, if you’re already running or walking, it’s a no-brainer to use one of these apps.Earn cash backEarning cash back online has become so popular that it’s not only easy to do, but the competition has led to some fantastic offers that let you make serious side-cash. Two of the best cash back apps/sites are Capital One Shopping and Dosh.Capital One Shopping offers coupon codes that automatically get applied to your card, but they also offer credits when you shop through certain stores (Walmart, Ebay, etc.). You can redeem these credits for gift cards.Dosh, on the other hand, offers straight cash back when you link your card and make most of your purchases in the app. You’ll earn cash back on your purchases at participating big-name retailers like Walmart and ASOS.Become a virtual assistantThe Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) has made teenage online jobs harder to come by. It says workers must be at least 14 years old to have a non-agricultural job, and they must work limited hours. That figure jumps to 18-year-olds if the occupation involves hazards. You can still find jobs online for teens, even if they’re not posted on traditional employment search engines, like Indeed or LinkedIn. Being a virtual assistant provides a reliable way to earn money as a teenager. The position entails handling administrative tasks for someone while working remotely. Some of those responsibilities include:Email management.Social media management.Research.Writing and editing.Clerical tasks.Basic bookkeeping.SEO optimization.Calendar organization. The best way to find a virtual assistant position is through your social network. Perhaps your parents or your friends know a business owner that needs help with day-to-day tasks. The specific job description will vary between clients, but either way, being a virtual assistant provides a great way to start earning money fast.Perform data entryA 16-year-old can work a range of jobs without limits on their working hours, though federal law prevents teenagers from accepting hazardous roles. HireTeen brings all those positions into one place with its platform for online teen jobs. Some of the most common money-making opportunities include food, retail, health care, and business services. While updating spreadsheets may not be the most glamorous option, companies continuously need data-entry services. It involves typing and voice-recording data into computer files so the business will have up-to-date documents. Accepting a data entry role means you could make $45,000 per year or $15 to $20 per hour.Tutor studentsGet paid for earning excellent grades in high school. When you upload your content to Shutterstock, for example, the company pays you a 40% commission every time someone downloads your image. The exact paycheck depends on the retail price and how many people use your pictures. The more photos you sell, the more Shutterstock pays. You can earn a pay bump when you hit certain uploading and selling milestones. Many other stock libraries, such as Alamy, Photoshelter, and Getty Images, have similar models.Set up an Etsy accountEtsy is a great way to make some extra money, especially if you have a knack for making vintage or craft items. While the platform doesn’t have the luster of the early years, it remains a viable money-making opportunity for part-time and full-time work. All you need to get started are items to sell. The company lets you auction anything from shoes to soaps and food trucks to Ferraris. Create a listing for your item, set a deadline, and sit back as online users make bids. The fee structure varies depending on the things you sell, though you can expect eBay to take commissions between 0% and 12%.Launch a Shopify storeShopify makes it easy to launch a business and start making money online. Start a free trial and add the products you want to sell into your inventory. After you create key pages and take care of shipping and payment details, you can open the store to the public.Shopify can circumvent the traditional brick-and-mortar store model through dropshipping. The process involves someone starting a business and selling products without ever stocking the inventory. The business owner sends all the merchandise from a third party, so they save on overhead costs. Note that dropshipping has received criticism for its lack of quality control, high shopping expenses, and low-profit margins.Scour CraigslistCraigslist may be the largest crapshoot on this list. The site is a way to earn money working odd jobs from sales to software and from marketing to miscellaneous gigs. You can find part-time positions at the bottom of the page and post your resume, so recruiters can find you if nothing matches your immediate interests.Earning money as a kid is more straightforward if you have some things to sell. Even the best golfers will occasionally lose their balls in the woods or water. Stroll these parts of the course long enough, and you can amass a sizable collection.Once you clean and sort the balls, you can sell the balls online or to the pro shop. Remember that not all golf balls command the same price. The Titleist Pro V1, one of the most expensive golf balls in the world, retails for $48 a dozen. If you sell 12 used Pro V1s, you should get paid at least half the retail price.Always make sure you check with the golf course, though, just to make sure you have permission to gather the golf balls.Work at a farmers’ marketDo you have a knack for making baked goods? What about growing juicy tomatoes or harvesting honey? If you said yes to any of these options, you might have a future at your local farmers’ market. The next time you visit your farmers’ market, survey the stands to see what people are and aren’t selling. Surface-level jobs target visible mess and untidiness. Cleaners at this level may offer dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sweeping services. Deep cleaning takes more time and effort because it addresses hard-to-remove dirt and grime, which means it also pays more.Get hired for part-time jobsHow To Make Money - A Guide For Teens - Get hiredFood deliveryYou can also make some extra cash for delivering food. For example, Instacart is an app that provides its customers with same-day delivery on groceries (they too do pick-up services) from their local store. The user does all of their shopping directly through the app and checks out. Once that’s complete, the order is sent to a personal shopper (this is where you come in) to do the shopping and deliver the order that same day. What’s cool about Instacart, though, is that they offer both a full-service and in-store only option. A full-service shopper goes to the designated store, does the shopping, packs it up, and delivers it directly to the customer (you leave the food on their doorstep in nearly all cases). But if that sounds like too much, you can also be an in-store shopper, where you do the shopping and get the order ready for the customer to pick up. The in-store option is excellent for people who don’t want to bounce around from store to store all day or make deliveries. Note that you have to be 18 years old to sign up for Instacart.Another option is Postmates. Postmates hires “couriers” to deliver not only groceries but also food from restaurants as well as other personal items directly to the customer’s home. As a courier, you’ll get compensated based on how many orders you complete in an hour, your waiting time for orders, and how many miles you drive. On top of that, you get to keep all of your tips. So if you do an excellent job, you can make some good money. You can also pick and choose which delivery requests you want to take – otherwise, you’ll be automatically assigned deliveries. Like Instacart, you do have to be 18 to deliver for Postmates.Golf caddyIf you live near an upscale golf course, make sure to apply as a golf caddy this summer. According to The New York Times, caddies can earn more than $100 for 18 holes. Not bad, considering that your primary responsibility is holding clubs for someone.A golf caddy plays a crucial role in a golfer’s success. They serve as a confidant and an advisor when it comes to club selection. If you’re really good at your job, you can be the difference between an excellent round and a mediocre one. The same goes for the size of your post-round tip.LifeguardYou need to know how to swim and be at least 15, but if you check both boxes, you have an inside track to becoming a lifeguard. All lifeguards must take a course before they start earning a paycheck. The certification process ensures that the hire is a strong swimmer who understands how to perform first aid. While you can garner a steady paycheck as well as a tan, make sure you’re up for the responsibilities. Lifeguards have to handle emergencies that can be matters of life or death. If you don’t want the pressure that comes with donning the whistle and rescue tube, consider one of the other options on the list.Retail workerMany teens in this country work retail, making it one of the most popular ways to make some extra money as a teenager. The position can be flexible and rewarding, especially if the company you pursue has values that align with your own. For instance, if you’re an aspiring fashion designer, apply for a job with a clothing store. Many retail stores pay minimum wage, or close to it, and hire people starting at age 16.
