PDF Editor FAQ

RUET vs KUET ME & ECE, which one is best? Which sector will be the best in this engineering universities to get good jobs?

If you consider job opportunities in Bangladesh, Mechanical Engineering will be much better than Electronics & Communication Engineering (based on current scenario). First of all, only 700–800 students graduate with Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering every year from Bangladesh (BUET: 180; KUET: 120; CUET: 130; RUET: 120, not sure about total number of seats at IUT, MIST, DUET, AUST, Sonargaon University, and IUBAT). More opportunities have grown for mechanical engineers in recent years. A lot of government or government - owned companies are there in power & gas sector which provide great opportunities for mechanical engineers. PDB, NWPGCL, WZPDCL, Ashuganj Power Station, PGCB, RPCL, BAPEX, PetroBangla, Karnafuli gas, Titas gas, Atomic commission, REB, GTCL etc. are only few of those semi - autonomous or government - owned companies which provide high job facilities in this sector. Even Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation, Bangladesh Water Development Board, Chemical corporation also hire mechanical engineers. These companies are classified as “Government-owned Companies of Bangladesh”. There are also a lot of private power plants and manufacturing industries over there. Many renowned private/multinational companies hire a lot of mechanical engineers every year, for example: BAT, KAFCO, WARTSILLA, UNILIVER, Pendeker Energy, WALTON etc. Pharmaceutical companies and textile industries also hire mechanical engineers. And don’t forget about Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) as ME graduates can also get into railway sector, food sector and so on as a mechanical engineer through BCS. So considering the number of mechanical engineering graduates every year, opportunities are quite good for mechanical engineers in Bangladesh. In recent times, opportunities are not that great for Electronics & Telecommunication/ Communication Engineers in Bangladesh. But, if you consider opportunities in North America/ Europe, I would say you have equal/enough opportunities from both disciplines. You will get a much bigger perspective if you are willing to shift outside Bangladesh and enough opportunity from any of these disciplines.

What has been the Industrialization of India since its independence?

India is one of the newly industrialized country and the country was economically mostly dependent on agriculture post independence. Even today, most people are dependent on agriculture and the economy is mostly dependent on service sector. India is one of the very few countries which skipped industrialisation and jumped directly to services after agriculture.India is the third largest economy in terms of purchasing power parity. There are various industrial fields in which India saw limited growth until market liberalisation and the growth has been better post liberalisation. Steep GDP growth after 1991 is the proof of this.ConstructionThe first professional consultancy company, National Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC), was set up in the public sector in 1954.
