If you want just intimate & close family, then pick a destination really far away from home. Then invite also those you would really live without, they won’t accept ( probably ) but also won’t complain.Find a good local wedding planner and trust her/him, give your budget and make her dream with you and H2B. A successful event is not only for clients but for planners also so she/he will do the best to make everything much better than what you expect.If the planner isn’t in the travel business, hire a travel agent for all what related to travel and accommodation.Ask the planner to take care of RSVP also , then forget it and concentrate yourself on your attire . RSVP is the worst part of the planning in my opinion and you need to arrive relaxed at the wedding.Make a list of wishes and talk with your planner on a regular weekly base. Don’t stress yourself and the planner with thousand of questions at a time nor pretend real time answers. Yes; I’m going nuts! These are carefully put away somewhere:These are my favorite 14k earrings in the shape of swans. I stole this photo off Pinterest listed as “Vintage” so it’s possible someone stole them, but who and how would be pretty extraordinary. It could actually be a photo I took of my earrings- they aren’t on the site for sale, and I may have taken their picture when I got renter’s insurance. I think I cataloged everything worth more than $200 (not a lot of stuff!).Background: my husband left me with $40 cash in 2008. I had no money to live on before I got him to court.I took all the jewelry he gave me over 26 years of marriage to the local goldsmith to hawk. I was sick over a few of the pieces, but I figured I’d have a job shortly and could buy something nice for myself (wrong, but I digress).The total cash came to $3,000. I wanted more, and veteran flea-marketer that I am, I hangled. I spied the swan earrings.“OK, $3,000, but I want those earrings!” He objected, saying he had paid $250 for them, so he’d be out quite a bit of money. I decided to take my jewelry elsewhere, when he stopped me and said “OK! They are yours! They are really great, I hope you wear them in good health!”I have squashed/broken/lost 14k items before by dropping them, so I was going to take special care of these. I bought a little felt-lined jewelry box. I kept those earrings along with the few other bits of bling my mother had given me. Junk jewelry can be tossed in a bigger box. (Cheap jewelry never disappears; it amasses. It’s a law of physics.)I took the swan earrings out to wear for a date, dinner with friends, weddings. I kept really good care of them. When my niece had her “destination wedding” in 2017, I packed them (along with several other good pieces) in a train case that would keep them safe. This is the one I bought:Right. I’m me, I should have remembered! I’m a magician who doesn’t know it. I can make stuff disappear like nobody’s business!I had the earrings at the ceremony. I put them back in the train case and wore plain hoops on the way home.After I got home, I unpacked, but was not paying attention because my son (who drove with me) was in my spare bedroom; ordinarily I would sort my clean vs. dirty things from the bed there, returning any clean clothes/jewelry to their proper places. As it was, I think I just grabbed the dirty laundry and shoved the suitcase in my closet. I remember putting the train case aside so I wouldn’t forget about it.Christmas came around… where are my earrings? Oh, they are in a pink train case. Where’s the train case?The case was nowhere to be found. How can a 8″ square case just disappear in a tiny apartment? Oh well, it’s Christmas and I have to dig out all my wrap and decorations.I found the case behind my leftover gift wrap! How did it get there? Well, at least I know where my earrings are! I was in a rush to get everything wrapped, so I didn’t grab the case. I forgot about it until after Christmas was over.So now it was January 2018. The case! Shoot, it had been missing and I found it- let me open it…There was NOTHING inside!! Since I packed the case myself, and it only went from the car to my apartment in my own hands, I know it made it to my apartment with the contents and must have put the contents immediately somewhere “safe.” But where was the “safe place” I put them? Not the little box I had bought for them- so where?In addition to my favorite earrings was a topaz and diamond ring I bought myself, and some gold stud earrings, plus at least one gold chain. Poof! Gone!SOMEWHERE in my apartment are these swan earrings, which are my absolute favorite earrings, as well as my other “real” 14k pieces!I’m furious with myself!
