Prince Charles may well have worn the same morning suit as he wore in 1984. What you have to understand is that these garments are of the very best, top quality meant to be worn time and again, also they are only worn on special occasions, such as weddings, so the likelihood of them wearing out is very remote. All members of the Royal family have been taught to be thrifty, just because you can afford to spend loads of money on clothes doesn’t mean that you have to do so, building up a decent wardrobe takes money it’s true but, once they have the basics, and for men that is less than for the ladies of the family (true of any family not just the Royals), it is easy to build on to that with clever accessories. Good clothes can last a lifetime, clothes for special occasions should last a lifetime, barring mishaps, and we do like to see our Royal Family practicing recycling. Plus I understand that Prince Charles, when discarding clothing, sends his garments to charity, that would of course be everyday type clothing and not the really fancy stuff. The Prince is also a great believer in mending, especially when the item is a much cherished and comfortable one. It is better to be comfortable and there really is no need to be flashing cash on clothes if what one has is already perfectly adequate.
