“Silicon Valley” is a (vaguely defined) region near San Francisco, CA. It is a “valley” because it is roughly nestled between the Santa Cruz mountains and the Diablo range, two mountain ranges in the San Francisco Bay Area. “Silicon” refers to its historical roots as the place where some of the early computer hardware companies formed, including Intel and Hewlett-Packard.It is not a startup hub, nor a town or city. It is home to plenty of tech companies, from startups to large corporations, and it is therefore also home to a good number of hi tech employees, investors and entrepreneurs. It has become a sort of cultural symbol for tech entrepreneurship, though it most definitely isn't the only place in the world where tech startups form and grow.

I used to like hanging out Defenestration HQ, but ever since Dawn banned Nathan Stanish and left, it has become a living hell reminiscent of that of an Anarchy server. Even Ethan Motherfucking James got scared out, and I can see why. The people there take pride in themselves and themselves only. The chat is unsupervised and the server is pretty much run by Venn Diagram haters and homophobes. Heck, now the lower-ranked members can't even invite anymore.Although I joined SHAK a while ago, I haven't really been active on there until yesterday. I lost faith in Defenestration HQ for good reasons. SHAK still has the cool folks and they are much nicer here. Defenestration HQ needs fixing fast, or otherwise it will become inactive and certainly die.Edit: Dawn is finally back as of 7/10/2019, but I'm pretty sure all of us have the Discord form of PTSD.Alright, alright, this answer is kinda outdated now and the server has gotten better. Although I still don't hang out there quite as often as I used to.Yet another edit:As of 7/24/2019, the server has been reduced to only one channel and a lot of users have been defenestrated (kicked/banned) from a recent purge. There a rogue bot account made by a troll that is taking advantage of this and asking users to join QuoComm, who wants nothing to do with it.7/25/2019: Defenestration HQ has officially met its sad end. However, a new server has been created by Dawn to compensate for it, and the name of it is Nomansan Island.
