i didn’t ‘lose’ custody, but the courts would not enforce the shared parenting agreement [weekdays w dad, weekends with me, alternating holidays, summer etc- he is disabled, stay at home, i work 2 jobs]after six years of trying to get them to enforce the custody [he would not let her leave with me, would take her out of state without permission, took her out of school, the list goes one and on] i stood before a magistrate and asked why they would not charge him with contempt. she said, keep up that tone with me and you’ll be in jail for contempt. i turned to leave, then said, ‘i will never get these years back. six years of my baby’s life, gone. i could be dead and she would not know. she could be dead and i would not know. thank you your honor for being an honest, fair, judge.’footnote: 3 year later i got before a higher up judge. she said what i went through was a travesty, that it was unforgivable what happened to me, to my daughter. she told my ex if she ever saw him in her court room again, he’d lose all rights and face a long long prison sentence. i have worked very hard to rebuild my relationship with my daughter, and with my ex. things are better. much better. my baby starts college in a few weeks. i pushed her to apply. she is getting a full ride. she will be happy.BEST HAPPY ENDING EVER.

It happened with my mother's distant cousin.
