The idea was that we could not do anything like “regular women” did.Asking for a pencil or simple item was a big deal. We washed our hair with bar soap in the weekly bath. Shampoo? Ask permission.Our letters that arrived were opened by our superior, and some elements could be “redacted.”Also, the superior was afraid to allow us the use of tampons.
