India: What are things that make Indians sad?
It’s illegal to give a lift to an unknown person in India.(Read thoroughly …)How many of you know this?Recently, I read in this in my office forum and I feel it’s worth sharing.Nitin Nair, a resident of Mumbai, has been fined Rs. 1500/- after being caught giving a lift to an unknown person.I will make his post simple. On Monday morning (18 June 2018), Nitin saw some of the office goers waiting for the public transport and thought of giving a lift to them since it was raining heavily and all the public transports were either crowded or late. One of them was an elderly (at least 60+) person and other two guys were working for a reputed IT company. Nitin could make out from their Office ID card. So he stopped the car and asked them to get in as the office was on his way to his office. The moment he started the car, One traffic police officer waylaid Nitin’s car and asked him to show his license. Within a few minutes, Nitin received a receipt from Police officer to hand over the license to him. When asked for the reason, he was said, It is illegal to give a lift to unknown person. The police officer was serious and asked Nitin to get back the license from the Police station after paying the fine on the next day.He was charged with section 66/192 where he needs to accept his mistake before a judge and pay a fine to get back his license. After accepting his mistake on the next day in the court, he was fined Rs. 2000/- and get it reduced Rs. 1500/- after a huge struggle.Another incident which happened recently at Bangalore where RTO officials seize Hyundai i20 Elite for carpooling. If there is such a law in the country, how would people help persons who are dying on the road? Wait, do not judge a law with this post. Read more about my thoughts on this before you come to a conclusion.I understand some of the things from these sources and it goes as follows. It is illegal to give a lift to unknown persons in India.Only yellow board vehicles can take passengers.People should get a permit from RTO before taking people (public) because the vehicle should be in condition (prescribed by RTO) to take away passengers.Section 66/192 also states that there is an exemption for vehicles on certain conditions for specific purposes. This point is that you should not use your personal vehicle as a commercial one. This post actually misleads people and I just want everyone to understand how all things work.Read more about Section 66/192 here.Source: Nitin NairThank you.
