Is Walmart going the way of Kmart?

YesLast year Walmart closed 63 Sam's club stores.Amazon currently has 10% market share and is trending to double this number by 2021.Each year Amazon grows in excess of 20%.Amazon has 90% of online sales and Walmart has 4%.As Amazon gains, Walmart and other retail stores lose market share.25% of malls, have already been closed.WGN midday news announced 6000 stores have closed, so far this year. Some of these closings, have been Walmart stores, it was announced.Entering a Walmart, today, feels like it used to feel when entering a Radio Shack or Sears, before they closed.Dirty, shabby, depressing looking stores with empty shelves and associates that are hard to find, have little product knowledge and lack proper training.I used to work at Walmart. An example of remodeling bathrooms at Walmart illustrates how it operates. A crew drove to the store from Arkansas to Illinois and stayed in a motel, while remodeling the customer bathrooms at the front of the store. A low paid non union work crew. After work was completed, the crew went back to Arkansas. After they left, constant customer complaints about the new sinks.Customers would soap up their hands and try to rinse off in the new sink.3 low pressure streams of water that would shut off, as soapy hands entered the water. At the time, maddening to all the customers. In hindsight hilarious, but it is only one small illustration of the, all drama, all the time, irritating experience when trying to shop at Walmart.Just one more example, of how by going cheap, Walmart can even screw up a bathroom remodel.Other questions and examples. Why does it take so long to get someone to unlock $2.00 merchandise? Why don't competitors in nearby stores, lock up so many low cost items, like Walmart does? Most competitors only lock up high dollar small items like razor blades or they are located by the check out.Why does Walmart treat honest customers, like criminals?Walmart has 2% shrinkage (theft rate) while most other retail is 1%.Why?Like Radio Shack, Walmart is eliminating more experienced people (greeters, cashier's, janitorial, truck unloaders, shelf scanning people, all by attrition).Like Radio Shack, Walmart stores are dirty, poorly maintained and the decor looks dated and definitely not stylish like Target stores.Like Sears, Walmart shelves are empty allot of the time.Every day, I read comments about how people are leaving the Walmart shopping experience for Target and Amazon. A trade up for a better shopping experience with greater peace of mind. Why?Always long lines, always only 2 cashier's with 20 empty registers. The atmosphere at Walmart sucks. Like trying to shop in a trailer park or a ghetto. Always cringe worthy and high drama.Low income, rude people, melodramatic, who can't seem to figure out how to dress or bathe themselves. Are bathing suits, lingerie, pajamas and shit stained pants appropriate attire to shop alongside others? WTF?Just Google, The People of WalmartThe bottom line…Most people (customers) have a deep need, to feel special. Not gonna happen, with self checkouts and no cashier's.What next, will customers at Walmart be asked to stock shelves for free as well?Banks have had 40 years to eliminate all tellers for ATM machines. Yet this has not happened. Why?Tellers provide higher levels of customer service (than machines) and make people feel special and listened to..Get a clue, all or nothing thinking, Walmart management!Kind of like an antiseptic / cold feeling just entering a Walmart..Robot floor cleaning machines, robot shelf scanning machines and robot truck unloading machines highlight the fact that in a time of low unemployment, Walmart is struggling with 95% turnover in many stores and unfilled positions. What does a robot do when it encounters a shoplifter?Answer, nothing. It stops while the shoplifter pockets the items. A vigilant employee would notify management or loss prevention. What is the most shoplifted item at Walmart?Cases of water on the bottom of the shopping cart.A self checkout machine, will not check the bottom of the cart, like a cashier would. Those watching the scanner lines are too busy to notice, while trying to monitor and fix 6, error prone, self checkout machines.Walmart has a horrible reputation in multiple areas.Long lines, always.Always a drama every shopping experience at Walmart. In small towns Walmart engaged in predatory pricing and drove competitors out of business. With suppliers, Walmart has bullied it's American companies into slashing margins, putting them out of business and into bankruptcy. When Mr Sam was alive Walmart proudly sold American made products and supported American jobs. Now 50% Chinese products at Walmart, Chinese jobs and low quality items. With employees, Walmart keeps associates part time, forcing them into public assistance (Medicaid and food stamps). With older longer term associates, hours are cut until they leave because they can't continue to supportthemselves while working at Walmart. They are then replaced by lower paid people (or robots). Of which, many will get some experience at Walmart and move on to Amazon, Whole Foods, Menards or the post office all which pay $15.00 an hour. $4.00 more than Walmart.Currently, Walmart sends associates into competitors with Telzon price scanners.

Has anyone dealt with their spouse having PTSD due to military and then wanting to throw away their marriage?

Has anyone dealt with their spouse having PTSD due to military and then wanting to throw away their marriage?I can answer part of that question. My wife was an officer in the USAF from May 1981 - August 1994, made Captain. She wanted to make a career of it, but got caught in the post Gulf War 1 downsizing. She had been in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait heading up a field test of a new airborne communication system (was a flight test engineer who did a lot of field work) when Saddam attacked. I’m guessing, because she has never told me outright (which I respect) that she was under SCUD attack and witnessed death and destruction. Also, while she was in, there was sexual harassment by a superior officer.I am also a veteran (9 years USAFR), but never left the States (save for 2 summer training stints, one in Italy and one in Germany, with travel, each was 2 weeks), and have come under fire only once, during an accidental shooting.I do not share the experiences she had. She did get into a group with other female veterans, which helped some. They had experiences similar to hers, both combat and harassment. She started showing signs of the PTSD during the time she had a civilian job as a food plant engineer after leaving the Air Force. Things came to a head when she got downsized from there when her employer got bought out and her division was eliminated. This kicked her over the edge. She was out of work from August 1997 - August 2012. It was rough, as we were dependent on savings, my paycheck (retail sales clerk), retirement investments, swapping debt between credit cards, and after a few years, the VA deciding she was, indeed, disabled due to effects of service connected injuries and occurrences, thereby getting a small monthly stipend, along with medical care. The person I married was still there, but buried under the effects. There was no thought of giving up, just trying to build a place where she could feel safe, and maybe find healing. I knew I could not do much for her. I had neither the knowledge nor skills. I could, however, encourage her and support her efforts when she found a way. I was prepared to live the rest of our lives together in this new “normal” if it came to that. She would go to monthly meetings of 2 clubs, one for home brewers that we joined before the descent of darkness, and a supper club with other married couples looking for good comversation I found 2 - 3 years after. It took me almost 15 minutes to coax her out of the car for the first meeting at the restaurant. In early 2007, the VA clinic to which she went for her primary care got a new counselor who cared about the vets as individuals, not just as the checklist. The counselor searched for new ways to help her vets. One of which is a program called circleofchange, which was founded by the VVA chapter in Rockford, IL working with a professional dog trainer. They take in rescued dogs that have been temperament tested as unadoptable, and rehab the dogs so they can go to new homes. It has grown to having sessions in Madison, WI, too.My wife started out as a literal hermit, would only leave the house for her VA appointments, the two clubs I coax her into attending, and then the CofC sessions. She would not even get the mail from the curbside box (we lived on a rural route). Her mentor (a USMC vet of combat in Viet Nam) said she would find a chair, sheltered in a corner where she could see everything and no one could approach without being seen. The big break came about a year in when the Jack Russell they’d paired her with was released from his carrier for class, ran to her and jumped in her lap. He had been a terrified, fear biter. At the end of her association, she had become a mentor in the program, would go on speaking engagements for the program (to help raise funds) and worked closely with the board of directors. In the fall of 2011, on our way from her 30th college reunion to visit our parents, she turned to me in the car and said; “I’m ready. When we get back to Illinois, I am going to rebuild my resume and look for work.”200 resumes later, she had a job offer from a branch of the US Navy flight test division. She accepted in March with a start date in August (has become a milestone month for us). Here were are, in southern Maryland, a place we barely knew existed before moving here (we are both Massachusetts born and raised). She loves the job, hates computers (especially Micro$loth Windows 10), likes her co-workers and has their respect.I had a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer a little over 3 years ago. When we discussed final arrangement in the face of not knowing if I’d survive, she asked me what I wanted on my grave marker; “He fulfilled his wedding vows.”With an anchor like that, how could I give up?
