“One FINE day with a bit of LUCK, I HOPE the MBJB's chief planner would see your application paper.”That was the last words of my Malaysian business partner after an hour meeting with our client.What made him say that?Let me tell you what we were doing in Johore Bahru.Many years ago, my Malaysian partner and I designed a 30- Storey condominium project in Johore Bahru in Kampung Wadihana. It has been many months since we submitted the building plan for approval. We did comply with every item required by the MBJB. To no avail, “no news wasn’t a good news” for my clients.A meeting was arranged by Michael, who was the local architect answerable to our client.Michael started with,” We have a team of my Malay guys who go in and out the MBJB daily, someday he went out lunching with the officers.”My client, “ Michael, cut the crap! All we want to know is, when will we get the planning approval? The money is flowing out like water.”Michael, “ Let me finish lah, my guy said, one of the Malay officers he lunched with, already went to the Chief Planner’s room as he was out of town for 2 weeks, and that guy has put " OUR FILE, ” right on top, from the bottom of a stack of the application files, do you know how tall the stack of files was or not?Everyone left the meeting room in dismay and I wondered when the DAY Michael said he HOPES with a bit of LUCK would arrive.After the completion of the Wadihana Condominium project. I decided to say goodbye to Johore Bahru and moved my office to Singapore.SINGAPORE - If you are an architect, anywhere you work, it will be the same. All architects in Singapore work themselves to death, so to speak.But at the end of the day, architects smile when they see their buildings get built. It's no different from a father who is overjoyed at the birth of a newborn child. It's no different in the satisfaction he gets from his first child and his next child.Let’s get to work wise:-URA is the approving party in Singapore that I dealt with, the same as the MBJB, in Johor state.Working with the URA is the world of difference from MBJB in Malaysia, For a start, everything is in English and no need to have ‘only special skilled people to go in and out.’ If you are adequately qualified and sent by the company who submitted the plan, you will also be welcome.Let me put it into a point-form, from the first experience when I submitted plans of a 7-unit Cluster Housing Project.The period of planning approval is 45 days, not up to God’s willing or indefinitely. Luck has no place either.There is no social life with the public for URA’s officials, like lunching with the public or a bottle of whiskey as a gesture of courtesy.The Chief Planner has his work to do, but does not need to endorse every letter or document, and many acting officials are assigned to do so, although every official letter is signed off by the officer’s name, " for the Chief Planner.” If the Chief Planner is out of town or in hospital it will not cause any disruption.Although the applications are from architects, although handled by a single planner with a transparent network, senior officers have access to the files even though an online-submission not available at that time.I submitted for planning approval and 45 days later I got the Provisional (Planning) Permission… on the dot.That is my experience of the differences between working in Malaysia and Singapore during my time.

After clearing the AMCAT test, you will be called for the interview process.You have to carry a resume and a xerox copy of each :- all your semester marks sheets, provisional or degree certificates (if available), 10th & 12th marks sheets and passing certificates (if available) and diploma marks sheets and certificates (if available).On the interview place, you will be given a form to fill, on there you have fill your details likename, address (current and permanent), college name, your grades and marks (of whole career), guardian/parents name, age and occupation, passport and driving license details (if available), and lastly you have to select your joining location preferences.Joining cities which Accenture gives are mainly :-PuneMumbaiBangaloreChennaiHyderabadKolkata andGurgaonGenerally Accenture gives 50% of students selected to their first location,30% to their second location etc.So location preference selection of your choice completely depends on your luck.Now coming to the interview :-They don't take basically a face to face interview, rather they take a group interview, but probably they will ask you individually.Also they don't ask any technical questions, so you have to mug up your things.So they first form batches of 5 - 6 students in each and call one by one batch.A single batch generally face 2 H.R.s at a time.Question which they asks :-Tell me about yourselfWhat are the projects you have done ?Sometimes they cross question about your projects, but don't get afraid tell them with confidence and freely, because they are not really from technical field.Then they generally give a topic like Global Warming, Greenery, Asked you to compare between cricketers, Politics etc.Also they sometimes give some condition on the topic you just said, and you have to reply back.Then after the interview, they will announce the result.Then a senior H.R will come and discussed with you some facts like :-Package that company is offeringBond ( which is presently 75,000 for 14 months)Your job location.Why they are taking this type of interview? I mean not asking any technical question.And when they will send you your offer and joining letter? etc.That's complete the whole process.So the most basic things to clear the Accenture process are :-Be calmYour spoken English need to have fluency.Don't show attitude when your speaking.When you are saying things about your project or any other try to speak as much as you can.Last and the foremost always go with a smiling face.All the best.

It happened to me!24 days after Pre-employment medical checkup, I get a message from L&T stating that my candidature has been cancelled on the grounds of colour vision defect.I was completely shattered, for a guy whose only aim was to work in the biggest construction conglomerate in the world,this news struck me hard, I was totally depressed for two days. I thought working in L&T would improve the financial status of my family as well as provide me extensive knowledge. After I was provisionally selected, first thing I would do every morning was to look up for L&T shares, updates on the ongoing and upcoming projects. I had so much passion for the company.My college has sent a letter to L&T requesting them to reconsider my application, I am waiting for a positive reply. Hope everything goes well!Will soon update the answer😊Edit: Did not get a positive reply from L&T, it's very disappointing, I can't believe a genetically acquired trait is governing my career. I also realized that I am not eligible for many other PSU's. Hoping that there is something good waiting for me.
