India the second largest IT giant in the world after USA. It contributes to the high percentage of India's economy. So will it survive this pandemic or not?Let's find out.Every company has been affected by this pandemic. IT sector has also been affected badly but in comparison to others there has been a less damage. The reason being employees are still working from home and delivering the projects to their clients.Afterall, everything is linked the other things. In long run of this pandemic, the IT sector is also going to get badly affected.Let me explain you whyI'm working in Infosys right now, I am working from home and delivering project to the client. Since my client is a telecom company from UK, so the project has not gone less as it comes under essential things which can't stop due to pandemic, everyone will still use the phone and cable channels.Now take another example of BMW, they are also a client for Infosys. Due to the pandemic their sales has been zero, no business for them in current time. If the sale is zero then there wouldn't be any data generated by their business. If there's no data then their is no need of data analytics, which was in the hands of Infosys. Thus, they will take back all their projects from Infosys. This is called loss of business to Infosys. Similarly, there are various other clients of Infosys who would be in similar situation. Thus, loss of business is still there for IT companies.Working from home for some obvious reasons decreases the productivity of the team as every team member is working separately in their homes connected digitally. So this will somehow disturb the sync of the team causing project delivery delay. This is another loss for the IT companies.When employees are working in office then the managers can easily track their progress. But working remotely it makes difficult for the managers to keep track of their employees work.Now coming to the small scale companies like vogo, bounce, drivezy, all these are vehicle rental companies. They have completely lost their business in current times. They are laying off their employees to stay relevant for some interval of time. But if it continues then I'm sure these companies are going to completely losse their business.Small IT start-up will not be able to revive the losses and I'm sure there will be hundreds of start-ups, who were doing well and will loose track.Edit1: 10–06–2020People commenting it's unethical to disclose the client's name here. It’s just a simple appI ran a mobile app development company for a few years. I loved the work, when I got it, but unfortunately most of the contacts by potential clients went something like this:Them: “I have an app idea. It’s like [insert dominant top 10 App Store app name here] but with [insert some twist on the idea]”Me: “Apps of that nature generally cost around $15k - $25k to build. After we go over all the specifics of your project I can provide you a more accurate estimate. It could be less, or possibly more.”Them: “WHAT!? It’s just a simple app. Jeez, my budget is only $500.”Examples of simple apps:Angry Birds Clones (this was a really common request at the time)Apps that compile and search vast amounts of data that wasn’t easily obtainable, often from multiple sources, such as criminal records or home/property sale listingsPhoto recognitionVideo editing and superimposing videoDating and social media platforms, many of which had some complex location-based aspectAt first, I would avoid throwing any prices until I had a full understanding of the project scope. I didn’t want to back myself into a corner by stating a price too low or push someone away by providing a price too high. But, I received dozens of similar failed leads a month. Often times we’d go back and forth for days or weeks before finding out their budget was <$1000 for a 200 hour project. So I changed things up and started weeding them out early.
