PDF Editor FAQ

Which kind of tasks could be completed online to help a non-profit organization?

Without repeating the other tasks already listed, I would add:Adding/updating online profiles for the organization (LinkedIn, Guidestar, read reviews of nonprofit organizations, NGOs and charities before you volunteer or donate.,...)Promoting upcoming live events/galas, including submitting to charity and local media calendarsSetting up and managing online ticket sales for eventsSoliciting in-kind donations for use as silent auction, raffle, and gift bag items for events (filling out online forms on individual company sites, HARO giftbag, and Events with Benefits ®)Silent auction data entry and writing package descriptions in auction software

Does your business support a charitable or not for profit organization? Why or why not?

Yes we do. There is a Mental Health Not for Profit.A friend of mine wanted me to provide something for a silent auction event. I did two things,1. I committed the sales commissions from one of my affiliate positions to this very deserving cause2. For the silent auction, I provided a business packageThe initial funds generated from the business package went directly to the not for profit and in addition both my friend and my up-line affiliate position contributed the commissions earned from the on the from the sale of the package. On top of that, there is now an affiliate position that increasingly earns on-going commissions and donates these to deserving not for profits. My businesses contribute to not for profits that are willing to try a new approach to generating donations. It makes sense for my business and it makes sense for the Not for Profit.Conversely we do not give anything or support so called religious charities in any way shape or form. Personally I don’t trust them one bit.

Are traditional forms of fundraising - black-tie events, formal dances, etc., still effective ways to raise funds for charities? Are there more contemporary ways that are more effective?

It's really a matter of return on investment. If your margin of profit justifies the operating costs and the time put in by staff, they can work. They can and do appeal to high end donors. You can maximize your profits by:High ticket pricesDonated or subsidized services (food, entertainment, venue, volunteer workers)Corporate sponsors who underwrite costsMajor donors who underwrite costsLive and silent auctions to augment donations beyond ticket salesIntegrated email marketing prior to and following the event to solicit more donations from both attendees and those who can't make itHolding the event on the property of a high-end donor and hand picking wealthy friends and acquaintances of theirsTrends I see in event marketing are local craft beer and wine events and chefs donating their time from the hottest restaurants; extreme sports runs and races (mud, obstacle courses); and playful fun-runs and biking (night biking in costume, color runs). These attract emerging donors, as does personal fundraising (donors who create and host their own events). Events that have really lost their draw are televised ones such as telethons.Outside of events, digital appeals and online giving are the least cost and labor-intensive, and, done right, can reap huge rewards.
