What is the problem with Indian teachers?

Scene: Result distribution.Teacher: Take your answer sheets and don't compare your marks with anyone. Come to me only if there's a totalling error.Me: *to the class topper*Show me your answer sheets na? 🥰I see my teacher has marked us differently for the same one word answer. 😬Me: *goes to the teacher*Ma'am, we've both written the same answer then why you've given marks only to her?Teacher: *shouts*Image credits: ShutterstockI told you don't compare your marks with your friends.Me: 😑Some other students come with the same complaint. 😂Apparently she had cut marks of all the students who go to coaching and question her in class even questions of NCERT.Fun fact: Even that topper girl used to go to some coaching but it seems our teacher couldn't extract this information at the correct time. What is the problem with Indian teachers? They openly differentiate between students, often being totally unreasonable and stupid. Favouritism is the worst thing that happens in Indian schools. My friend's teacher cuts her classmates' marks cause they don't attend his private tuitions.Total BS. 😑

Can you share your journey as a NEET aspirant from preparation to the result?

I wasn't sure if I want to post it or not after the rank inflation and my marks looking low after loads of quoran’s scoring above 650, anyway posting it.Long answer ahead .My NEET journey started after my 10th boards.I scored 477/500 which is considered average in TN as 10th boards marks mainly depend on cramming and vomiting on the exam day. I didn't mind much and started my preparation. There was no proper coaching institute in 50 km radius of my city and the closest one had a travel time of 4 hours up and down. I didnt have that time as school started at 8 and ended at 7pm and I had to attend math tuition at 7:25 to 8:30.To my bad luck that year 11th exams were considered for boards so I had to prepare for both boards and NEET. Usually in TN the 11th boards are not considered ,I had planned to finish my 11th and half of 12th NEET portions in 11 th itself. Now the plan was ruined. In my school itself they conducted coaching but they stopped it in a couple of weeks as there weren't enough students, by this time it was already October and my half year exams was in a month and i hadn't studied even 25%of my portions for boards. I can either study for boards or study for NEET sacrificing by board marks. I chose the former which i regret till now. But i did try my best to prepare for NEET whenever I can, during holidays , during lunch breaks etc.11th was over and i topped my school in the board exams(556/600) and scored 100 in biology, which I was told only 7 managed to do that year( 100s used to do it before as the paper used to be easy)I took a trip to Chennai and when i came back to home i was determined to crack NEET. I started to prepare NEET with my full power. My school timing is from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM. I didn't get much time as my school didn't allow me to skip the tuition or take leave because they had control over the practical and attendance marks. If i played with them they would play with my marks. They also deliberately failed a guy for this the previous year. So i had to follow their schedule. Plus Saturdays were full working days and Sundays usually half days.My 12th boards were over on 18th march 2019 and I started preparing from the next day. Got 549/600)May 5 approached and i did my exam moderately.( I played PUBG around that time a lot)results cameBiology: 280ishChemistry:80ishPhysics:40ishYet I was happy as in TN the previous year cutoffs were around 360 and i was happy that i has scored 40 more than the previous year cutoff. I had a slight feeling that the cutoffs may jump, but didn't worry about it that much. Then my worst fears came true, the cutoffs jumped to 470 , more than a hundred marks than the previous year. Yet i attended the counseling, The seats were filled up completely before the day of counseling. But I didnt break down and cry. I started to search for coaching centers around my city, unfortunately there were none in my city and the nearest one was waste as they had no proper teachers or proper results in the past years. Then I joined Aakash Madurai. My family had to shift here as I had to change three buses and travel almost 120 km per day if I stayed in my home town.Classes started and went fine my marks were also slowly improving I used to get mostly above 530 in AIATS and above 500 in other tests. Then came COVID-19 and completely blew away my preparation. I was completely depressed and my marks started to slump. What i made sure was whatever marks i got i studied only from NCERT, as aakash and many other coaching centres as unnecessary stuff.I somehow studied whatever i can. I also had cheat days where i would not study and watch something or talk with my friends and family. What sucked was that my friends in college were like they were on vacation and even tough i was in my home I had to study.Days went by and it was Sept 3.I don't know why but I broke down that day and cried about that i cant do this, i think im going to fail. I have to thank my mother here as she gave me a talk that NEET is just a exam and life is beyond it . But it didnt last long i again broke down on Sept 9. My mom told leave it do whatever you want that makes you relaxed.Believe it or not I didnt study from 9 to Sept 12. Not a single line. Then on Sept 12 afternoon I just revised the Biology NCERT.D-day arrived. I was cool , went for a morning walk as usually I do. came back at around 8 ,took a bath had breakfast. It was around 10 now , I called my grandparents ,my dad, and got their wishes. Now took a another bath and changed to my Exam dress and had lunch. Left home at around 12:15 and reached centre at 12:40. Then ate some munch chocolates and entered the centre at 1:00 which was my reporting time. When I was waiting for the clock to tick to 2:00 . I thought of my entire journey and how my life is going to change in the next three hours.Bell rang at exactly 2:00 we got the paper and after filling the information sheet I started my paper at 2:12.exam went fine. I could have managed to solve a few more if i studied the last few days, but no regrets. I did the best.I blacked my photo, because i look like shit in that🤣😅😅Still happy as I would get a good college in TN with state quota. For 2021 NEET aspirants 720 is the limit and it has been achieved so give your best.

How can I prepare for JEE Advanced without coaching?

I cleared JEE Advanced without any coachingYou require excellent time management and discipline because you have to stay current with coaching institutes in the country. I only took test series and studied by myself for the rest of the time.InspirationIt does require motivation since understanding everything on your own is not easy. Also there is nobody to solve your doubts which at times can be frustrating but that is part of the challenge.I had enough inspiration from the fact that my brother and both my parents are from IIT Apart from that listening to the cliché “Tera to hona hai”(refering to the fact that I had 3 IITians at home) didn’t make it easier. Honestly, for me it was something I had to achieve - along with the pressure I had to deal with!ExecutionI maintained discipline (I wasn’t very disciplined otherwise :P) through an Excel worksheet I created that included last year’s weightage of JEE topics that would eventually give me how much time it is that I must spend on each topic . I used to calculate how much of any particular book/resource I need to finish in a day. It helped me not waste time on topics JEE considered irrelevant over the years.I also included topic wise test analysis in a worksheet where I had categorized all my mistakes (actual step wrong, questions not read, solutions not visualized, wrong information copied). The other sheet would tell me what type of errors( Single,Multiple,Matrix etc) I’m making every month by forming a frequency based error distribution template for me.This would tell me my areas to improve and gave an overall picture of my errors. The sheet gave JEE preparation an individualistic approach which is lacking in today’s coaching institutes .Understanding all topics on your own is tough but once you understand it on your own it stays ingrained in your memory.EpilogueOn going into IIT Madras, I feel it is much easier to ace and study than the others who are used to spoon feeding from coaching classes. I think pushing yourself hard to do well by yourself is necessary not only in IIT but also in life going ahead.
