PDF Editor FAQ

What if the pods carrying the 18 known infant Primarchs (40k) landed on planets in the Star Wars Galaxy?

Thanks for the A2A, Nicholas. To answer this question I’m going to have to split it into two halves; the first going over the details of their individual early lives, and the second going over their activities in the later part of their lives when they all join up together.Note: Even though the Primarchs would be named differently in this new timeline, I’ll still refer to them by their original names.Roboute Guilliman:With his pod crash-landing on Alderaan, baby Roboute is at first seen as a bit of an oddity before being adopted by Adan Dooku to be a companion to his biological son, the new-born Bron Dooku. Roboute grows up quickly, and begins displaying the intellectual qualities that his Warhammer counterpart also possessed. By the age of ten he has already mastered every subject that his tutors could teach him, as well as becoming stronger, faster and taller than any adult on his world, a feat that attracts the attention of Bail Organa, who offers to foster Roboute at the Organa household. Aden gratefully accepts, as not only is this a massive societal step up for the Dooku family, but also it is implied that should she choose to Leia Organa might marry Roboute. The two become close friends, while Bail subtly includes Guilliman into the Rebel Alliance. With Arden Dooku’s death at the hands of an Imperial agent, Roboute is sent to aid Mon Mothma directly in helping orchestrate the Rebellion. He regularly keeps in contact with Leia, but in the end he can only watch while Alderaan is destroyed and Leia captured.Nonetheless, he doesn’t allow himself to act impulsively, and so continues to aid the Rebellion by dealing with it’s administration, diplomacy and strategy, as well as directly fighting the Empire when he needs to. When he discovers the existence of other Primarchs, he personally oversees the rescue missions (like the Emperor would).Vulkan:Crash-landing on Mustafar, Vulkan is adopted by the Mustafarians. The North Mustafarians teach him how to ride the Lava Fleas and how to fight, while the South Mustafarians tech him how to forge and how to harvest minerals from the lava of Mustafar. Vulkan is able to quickly master everything he is taught, as well as a few things that he hasn’t even encountered, and lives happily for a while until he is discovered by the Empire when Darth Vader investigates a strange presence he felt there.Although at first he trusts Vader, he quickly becomes disillusioned from the Empire when he sees the Jedi interrogated by Vader on Mustafar. He stages a prison break while Darth Vader is away, battering his way to safety with his hammer. After a timely rescue by Guilliman, Vulkan joins the Rebel Alliance and focuses on production of war machines. Additionally, despite his demonic appearance, he becomes a symbol of the Rebellion, able to garner support from the ordinary civilian.Rogal Dorn:Growing up on Garnib, Dorn became famous on the planet for his steady, defensive leadership and at the age of sixteen became the unofficial leader of Garnib, which drew the ire of senior Empire officials. Eventually, his outspoken criticism of the Empire culminated in him declaring the independence of Garnib and fortifying his home world, daring the Empire to attack. The reconstructed 182nd Legion, compromised of Stormtrooper volunteers instead of Clones, attacked Garnib, and though they ultimately succeed they suffer horrific casualties and discover an entirely deserted planet. Dorn himself will reappear only later, fighting at the Siege of Hoth on the side of the Rebellion, winning a decisive victory for the Alliance. He would go on to fight at pivotal defensive battles.Konrad Curze:On Nar Shaddaa, a new legend was born. Tales of a vigilante dispensing instant and cruel justice abound. A new law is forged on the criminal planet. Each kill became more and more gruesome, until even hardened criminals wept when they heard the name;Konrad Curze. The criminal masterminds behind the various crime gangs and cartels all swore to hunt down this criminal-killer, only to fall one by one. Grakkus’s death was televised for all the world to see. In the end Nar Shaddaa becomes cowed into submission, angering the Empire that profited from the illicit trading and smuggling done on the planet. The governor of Nar Shaddaa publicly swore to bring the vigilante to justice; his mansion, guarded by a crack squad of Stormtroopers, was overrun by a terrified mob, with the governor being ripped to shreds at their bare hands.Afterwards an entire Legion was needed to pacify the planet. However, during the return home the Legion’s ship went dark, only to reappear as Konrad’s personal flagship, now renamed The Night Lord. Konrad now leads a splinter faction of the Rebellion known for committing acts of terror . However, without the Emperor to stabilise him, Konrad becomes more and more destabilised by his visions. His sanity deteriorated rapidly until he met Magnus, who is able to guide him in conquering his own psykic powers.Horus Lupercal:Landing on Tatooine, Horus would grow up amidst the Tuskan Raiders, learning the art of brutal warfare by raiding Imperial strongholds. There were rumours that Horus met and helped Obi Wan Kenobi on regular intervals, protecting Luke Skywalker from a distance by drawing attention from him. In the end, he would be the sole survivor of his adoptive clan from an attack at the hands of Darth Vader, with Horus too far away to aid the clan. Bitter towards Obi Wan for distracting him by aiding ‘just another dust farmer’s child’, Horus leaves Tatooine in search of more Imperials to kill. Eventually he’ll join up with the Rebellion and serve a Warmaster-like position. His trust in Jedi was eroded somewhat, but he still remained a fierce fighter and master strategist to the Rebellion.Mortarion:Mortarion grew up on the planet Firrerre, adopted by a wise-woman who specialised in curing disease. Being in close proximity with infections piqued his interest, and though at first he learned the various cures that his mother knew, he eventually began experimenting with diseases on himself, at first in an attempt to discern what cure works best for which disease, but later on to build up and refine an immune system capable of dealing with most diseases. As a result, his already powerful Primarch body became even more resistant to not just disease, but poisons and toxins too. So when Hethrir virus-bombed Firrerre, his report to the Emperor that nothing lived down there was not quite true. Still, Mortarion nearly died down there, partly from the Hive Virus, but also from a lack of will to live.At that moment, when he was cradling his mother in his arms, surrounded by the bodies of people that treated him as one of their own, a small shuttle came hurtling down through the atmosphere. It was an Imperial shuttle, with an elite squad of Stormtroopers that were specialised in dealing with plague survivors. Their bodies were found by a follow-up team, rent into pieces as if by a wild animal.Since then Mortarion has his own flagship in the Rebel fleet, known as the Angel of Pestilence. It has since become a beacon drawing plague victims to it, pariahs, rejected by society. They find a home there, and if no other living creature is willing to put a foot on that ship, so much the better.Magnus:The Cyclops was deposited on Tython, ancient home world of the Jedi. Even as an infant he was able to read the meaning of the texts and holocrons hidden on Tython. He became an avid student of the Force, though he felt that the Jedi way only offered a narrow view into understanding it. After finishing his studies, he managed to negotiate passage off-world in exchange for his psykic services. After easily resisting an attempt to press-gang him by the ship’s captain, Magnus arrived on Moraband and started studying the Sith holocrons. From learning the two different philosophies concerning the Force, Magnus felt that he had a better appreciation of what it was, though he still felt dissatisfied and wanted to learn more.Continuing to journey across the galaxy, he met Ashoka Tano, who was on her own journey of self-discovery. Though she distrusted him for not being a Jedi, they quickly learned to trust each other, and grew a bond of friendship from a shared feeling of loneliness. Together, they founded the Grey order, she being a Grey Jedi and he being a Grey Sith. Though occasionally their actions can be seen as frustratingly enigmatic, they have come out in full support of the Rebel Alliance in order to combat Palpatine’s dogmatic approach to the Dark Side.Perturabo:While he did land on the Imperial-control world of Balmorra, Perturabo went undetected for long enough to become enrolled as a labourer in one of Balmorra’s many weapons factories. His huge size was dismissed as a minor mutation, a perception that his silence only exacerbated. While he worked in the factory, he began to learn quickly the intricacies of heavy weapons and siege craft. That rapidity was essential, as his growing size began to raise eyebrows amongst the overseers. When Perturabo heard of his brother Rogal Dorn’s declaration of independence, he by example lead his fellow workers in revolt, breaking his silence above the broken body of his overseer with one word: rise.He seized control of the orbital weaponry and turned it upon the Imperial Fleet stationed above, before capturing the rest of of the factory planet in barely a week. It was a rare case of a fortress planet being cracked from within. Now Balmorra would produce weapons only for the Rebels, and Perturabo could be found wherever a fortress needed breaking.Angron:The arena on Geonosis, despite being destroyed during the Clone Wars and the population exterminated during the period of the Galactic Empire, was illicitly reopened by smugglers hoping to make some credits staging fights in such a historic location. Angron, captured as a babe by one such smuggler in a rare flash of prescience, fought alongside warriors and scum drawn from all over the galaxy. But he grew to love them as comrades, and hated his captors more and more when he was forced to kill them. One day the Empire undertook a raid on the arena in hopes of shutting it down, or at least suborning it to their authority. Taking advantage of the chaos that ensued, one smuggler attempted to make off with the fighters to place them in a new arena; he was the first to die.Angron and his gladiators stormed out of their prison and attacked the hangar, seeking to depart with a shuttle. However, there was only one single-pilot shuttle available. Angron was unceremoniously tossed into it and forced to depart, leaving the others to fight a last stand against the Imperials. He was recovered by Guilliman, and since then fought an unrelenting crusade against the Empire, though witnesses were never sure who he wanted vengeance upon; the Empire, or himself.Lorgar:Found on Dathomir by the last remaining Nightsister Shelish, Lorgar was raised with the only intention of meting out the Nightsisters’ vengeance on the Empire. Learning the intricacies of the Dark Side at her feet, he ended his tuition with his head held several metres above her head. He left Dathomir in search of allies to take the fight to the Empire, and though he was at first seen with distrust he soon won over the Rebels with his charisma and expertise in the Force. His role in the Rebellion was in rallying support and motivating the common citizen in rebellion against the Empire. Those worlds he visited near worshipped him and his Primarch brothers like gods, a fanaticism that worried even his comrades.Fulgrim:Fulgrim was raised on Mandalore by a museum owner who studied the history of the Mandalorian warriors, in spite of the planet’s new obsession with peace. This fascination was lost on Fulgrim, who instinctively distrusted the Empire and it’s brutish lack of diverse culture. Eventually he left Mandalore to sample what the galaxy had to offer him, only returning to raise a new regiment of Mandalorian mercenaries when he was sixteen. This company was joined by the fugitive Bo-Katan, and when Roboute Guilliman declared the official commencement of the War of Rebellion the newly dubbed Death Owls were found fighting at the forefront of the rebels’ vanguards, though more than once Fulgrim would wander off on his own whim to secure a priceless cultural artefact.Alpharius and Omegon:The Two Primarchs had the misfortune to land on Hoth. There, they were forced to fight against the elements for their very survival, to the point where they saw colonies formed on Hoth as fair prey. They used trickery and deceit to steal what supplies they needed, with one brother visibly distant from their target while the other staged the theft. This continued for some time, until they attempted to steal from a seemingly abandoned hospital.Seeing the state of the facility, and moved by the head doctor’s pleas for respite, they adopted the inhabitants as their own family, turning their skills of trickery towards preserving their new siblings, though as always keeping the fact that they were twins, and not a singular person, a secret. It would only be during the Siege of Hoth that the Rebel Alliance would discover them, where they greatly helped Rogal Dorn by misleading entire Legions of Stormtroopers to die from the harsh conditions. They were quickly promoted to the rank of spymaster in the Rebel Alliance, and sometimes managed to subvert entire solar systems without the inhabitants ever knowing about it.Corvus Corax:Despite official records, there is still a sizeable human population on the dead world of Atraken; that population is made up exclusively of slaves mining the still abundant doonium. At first Corax stayed in the shadows, learning about the slaves and slavers from afar. Eventually particularly brutal overseers began disappearing, as did slaves known for their stubbornness, though the latter would often reappear with knives in hands. The shuttles were sabotaged, cave-ins spontaneously happening. and slavers found dead in supposedly the safest locations. In the end, the slavers locked themselves in a fortified bunker in hopes of whatever was outside dying from exposure, only to find their life support system and door controls sabotaged.Corvus Corax left the slavers to die on Atraken and departed with the slaves, the first soldiers in his elite stealth warband known as the Night Ravens. When Roboute Guilliman offered Corvus a place in the Rebel Alliance, his first action was helping extract the crew of the Millennium Falcon, as well as Princess Leia, from the Death Star.Leman Russ:The natives of Aduba-6 were surprised when a comet entered their atmosphere and crash-landed near the Wolf Blood clan. Turned barbaric by prolonged lack of communication with the rest of the galaxy, the clan taught Leman Russ the ways of the raider and the berserker. In short order Russ wielded the disparate tribes together into a cohesive whole, with the only unconquered land left being the tomb of a Sith apprentice. One day, Leman Russ packed his sharpest axe and journeyed alone into the tomb; what transpired there nobody knows, though some whisper that Russ wrestled with one hundred ghostly warriors, though when Russ was recounted that story he laughed and boomed that he only ever saw ‘dust and old bones’ down there. At the very least, mysterious disappearances and sightings around the tomb have vanished.Leman Russ was eventually identified and tracked down by Angron, which pleased Russ a lot. It meant that he finally had someone he could wrestle with! Now he leads a cadre of Storm Warriors, fierce fighters with jet packs that fight in brutal close combat, something that the Stormtroopers are completely unprepared for.Jaghatai Khan:One of the lesser known wonders of Malastare is the magnificent pod-racing arena, where pod-racers have been known to race quite literally to the death. All of this excited the nascent Jaghatai Khan; he participated in his first race at the age of six, and won his first championship at ten. In time he grew bored with the two-dimensional racing and bought his own fighter, participating in exhilarating battles against pirates and the Empire. By the time that Roboute Guilliman inducted him into the Alliance the Khan had a considerable following, a volatile force of speed-freaks that act as deadly raiders, if you can convince them to slow down long enough to attack an enemy.Lion El’JonsonThe world of Dromund Kaas, left untamed for too long after the Cold War, degenerated into a society based around hunting the dangerous fauna and half-remembered Sith traditions, often confused with Jedi Knight values, to form an Order exclusive to the most powerful fighters of the planet. Lion El’Johnson quickly caught the attention of the Knightly Order worth his impressive feats of hunting, and they allowed the youngster to train under the masters of duelling; before the year was out, those masters were begging to be taught by him. When the old Grandmaster died, there was only one person considered to replace him.The new reforged Knights of the Lion soon began spreading onto other worlds, and managed to forge a small sector of space entirely under their own governance, until Lion El’Johnson decided to become part of the Rebel Alliance. Nonetheless, the Grandmaster can still be found on the front lines, exacting fierce punishment on Empire.Ferrus Manus:His capsule actually never reached earth, but instead was recovered by a spaceship while it was still in outer space. That spaceship was the Medusa IV, a forge-ship crewed by any who love metallurgy. It was there that he was briefly apprenticed, before mastering all aspects of blacksmithing on the forge-ship, including a few never even heard of. In time, Fulgrim discovered this nascent prodigy and would ask from Ferrus Manus a unique piece of equipment to prove that he was a Primarch; Ferrus made the sword Fireblade, and return received Forgebreaker, a hammer made from seemingly living metal originating from one of Fulgrim’s most cherished artefact. The bond between the two would forever be as strong as those weapons.Sanguinius:The Angel descended upon Taris, where what little population there was immediately saw him as a sign of hope. Near worshipped with cult-like status, a status he regularly voiced his displeasure for. However, his leadership proved invaluable for the Tarisians, and eventually he was able to topple the skyscrapers of the moneyed elite and improve the lot of the underclasses. This was widely reported in the Imperial Senate, with Bail Organa acting first. Judging correctly that this Angel was a relative to Guilliman, Bail approached Sanguinius and offered to hide him on Kamino, where the Kaminoans loyal to the Republic could clone a secret army from Sanguinius. To this The Angel assented to in exchange for protection for the Tarisians, and so when Imperial Agents were sent to Taris to verify the reports of the Angel they found an empty world. When the Rebel War broke out, Sanguinius became the most visible Primarch in the fighting, owing perhaps to his angelic appearance, but also for the feeling of destiny that exuded from him, as if he were fighting for his very birthright. His clone army, though much inferior to the Primarchs, were nonetheless hugely superior against anything the Empire could throw at them. What happens in general:Instead of being a normal rebellion, instead becomes a full-blown civil war, thanks to the support marshalled by Roboute Guilliman. The war ravages the galaxy, especially as the Death Star comes into play. Fortunately Alpharius Omegon’s spy network is influential enough that any potential target is easily evacuated before it is destroyed.Konrad Curze and Corax despite their differences both lead a guerrilla campaign, freeing prisoners and disrupting supply and production. The leadership of the Primarchs, even without the tutelage of the Emperor (40K), tips the war heavily in their favour. The Death Star is easily destroyed by Jaghatai Khan. Hoth never falls to the Empire. The Emperor’s attention is occupied on the Force plane in a duel with Magnus, and Darth Vader is regularly forced to retreat from fights with the Primarchs (only the Primarchs; everyone else is just so much dead meat).Meanwhile, Ashoka is able to add onto Luke’s Jedi teachings with Grey philosophies, while Lorgar is also able to generally make the Sith less like completely evil villains. Leia works with Guilliman to get more planets to join the Rebel Alliance, and coordinates with Rogal, Angron, Sanguinius, Leman Russ and Mortarion as a front line commander.Eventually, a massive assault is staged on Coruscant to kill Palpatine. During the assault Sanguinius and Luke Skywalker corner Darth Vader and have the son-to-father talk. Vader heroically sacrifices himself to kill Palpatine. After a few years of gruelling combat, the Rebel War has ended with the restoration of the Galactic Republic, with the Primarchs ending up in influential positions, especially Sanguinius who becomes a permanent adviser in the Senate.Fast forward a few more years; the Republic has become prosperous and fully unified under a single law. The corruption that plagued the old Republic is completely exorcised, and peace between the Sith and the Jedi is finally realised thanks to Luke, Lorgar, Magnus and Ashoka. However, one day, when Guilliman is studying new reports of unidentified ships near the Outer Rim when Magnus stumbles into the room.“Father has returned.”
