Had I known how little I knew about the industry, maybe I would've balked at the idea. My friends and family said I was crazy to give up my 'good job', but I had to do something.With no money and a negative net worth, I ran a three line ad in the classified section of our local newspaper. 10 years later, I could trace about 90% of my then 4000 customers back to that ad in one way or another (referrals, etc.). I became the largest retailer of computer hardware in Memphis. I'm not sure if I drove my competitors out of business or if they were simply mismanaged, but I watched one after another fall.With computer hardware becoming a commodity by 1998, I shifted our core business from hardware to custom software and support services. I also acquired other companies along the way: An ISP that I eventually sold to AOL, a paper products company, a company that specialized in selling products that the USPS used, even a large vending machine route. At its peak, I was grossing ~$15m/year. I was able to put my daughter through private school and college, including graduate school, without incurring any debt. I began selling my companies in 2006, divesting my last interest in 2010. I retired at 49, one year ahead of schedule.That retirement lasted about 6 months. No longer bound by the no compete agreement from the software design company, I jumped back into the business, but this time I took a slightly different approach. No longer would I take projects that didn't interest me or deal with difficult people. That 'philosophy' lasted another six months. You see, when you're in business, you do business. Sometimes it is pleasant, sometimes it isn't.Find something you're passionate about and go for it. Read everything you can get your hands on about business, but trust your instincts. Deliver unparalleled customer service. In short, be 'The Man'.Success isn't about catching Warren, Bill, Steve, etc. Its about doing something you can take pride in and that can get you through this thing we call life. When offered a chance to respond, Mr. Killgore did not deny the charge.Moving on to the Executive Editor, Richard H. Curtiss, and hey, what do you know, he writes for ArabNews. A simple search on their site shows at least a dozen of his articles there, among them "The Nexus of the Neocon Network in Washington" and "Iraq: What Saddam Did and What Neocons Want to Do". Not surprisingly he blames Israel for "forcing" the US to invade Iraq to ensure its oil sources (never mind the fact we get our oil mostly from South America). ArabNews is a Saudi government publication. Its reporters are government paid, and so is Richard H. Curtiss.The news editor in the magazine? Richard H. Curtiss' daughter, Delinda C. Hanley. She's also, not surprisingly a reporter for the Saudi governments' mouthpiece, Arabnews and writes regularly on the site, her contributions include accusing Jewish scientists of poisoning Arab colleagues with anthrax. Another one of her fine contributions to Arabnews is the distribution of the USS Liberty various conspiracy theories, and other "Jooooos did it" stories. The USS Liberty seems like quite a fixation with the WRMEA. They dedicate an entire section of their site to propagating the lies and conspiracy theories on the USS Liberty.So, thus far, 3 editors on Saudi payroll and one is a daughter of an arch-terrorist.Asma Yousef, their Advertising director who happens to broadcast for Islamic Broadcast Network (which was closed meanwhile) and is also responsible for including an ad to a holocaust denial book inside the WRMEA.The Washington Report has also carried ads for Roger Garaudy’s notorious book The Founding Myths of Israeli Policy, which denies the Holocaust.In 1998 a French court convicted Garaudy of “challenging crimes against humanity,” of “racial libel,” and of questioning “the Nazi policy of exterminating the Jews.”Sara R. Powell, It's administrative director wrote an encouraging book review for a Lenni Brenner book, a known marxist activist suggesting links between Zionism and Nazism and other crazy conspiracy theories. He's also famed for being a Holocaust denier, or how he wishes to call himself, a revisionist, doubting the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust.Apparently, it's not just book-reviews and ads for holocaust deniers WRMEA does.
