I know that this is a very late reply, but in case anyone reads this who is considering sending a food truck from China to the U.S., I have recently been trying to do the same by going through Alibaba. I don't know if this information applies to all states or all other manufacturers in China.My seaport (port of Buffalo, NY) requires all imported vehicles to have a letter of compliance with the DOT and EPA standards or proper labeling of these compliances. The EPA had told me that the manufacturer needs to send a sample truck on their own behalf to the US to make sure it conforms and to figure out what needs to be done to apply for certificates of conformity.I had told the seller I was trying to order from (a supplier from Henan Alchemy Machine Co. LTD. - labeled as Alibaba certified, 5 star company and all) halfway through the order about it needing to comply with the DOT and EPA regulations in order to be accepted by the port, with multiple links and PDFs on how to apply and comply to the DOT, as well as relaying what the EPA told me. She told me the she would ask and get it done, and there was supposedly at least one company who sent a food truck to the U.S. in the past whom she could ask.4 days after the “shipment", I messaged her because she marked my order as shipped and uploaded a photo of a shipping label - it was of a 0.10kg parcel that was sent from China to somewhere else in China that had already been processed. The supplier gave the excuse of the real details not being in yet because it is big and not a standard item. She then tried to send me a couple of pictures saying that it was my truck, but I had asked for no cabinets, there were cabinets in the truck, there wasn’t a visible steering wheel, and there weren’t any mirrors. The lack of mirrors led me to ask about why the photo was not conforming to the DOT standards.She told me that it was an incomplete picture and would send it in a few days. She also said that she had talked to all the Chinese companies that deal with the food trucks about the DOT regulations, and said that no one had or could offer guidance with such certificates. She then asked me for a DOT application link (which her company was supposed to be finding), I told her that I gave her multiple DOT links and PDFs weeks ago and that I had told her weeks ago that she was supposed to get the EPA sorted out as well, repeating what they told me. Her response? “The link can't be used”. Then she tried to say “tomorrow I will make it” - the truck is marked as shipped already, it’s too late to conform it even if you were telling the truth.
