No movie needs to be made. Movies are made because they’re a “want” not a “need”. So stop using the wrong frame of reference when judging things. Do YOU only do those things which are absolutely necessary for you to stay alive? Or do you do things for fun like, oh, I don’t know, going to movies? People go to movies to see things that entertain them. As such, “Dune” has been one of THOSE books that for years has beckoned producers. Many is the shore of broken dreams upon which those hopes have been smashed by the tsunami of public fickleness. THIS MOVIE WILL BOMB. It will be a redux of “John Carter” and “Ender Wiggins”. Tee-hee.Oh, you are gonna say something like, “Oh you’re not a Dune fan!” (Literally something I was told when asked this before.) Because, to people who are snot-bespeckled with sniveling, childish idealism, only those who demonstrate the same emotional composure really care about something enough. I’ve been a “Dune Chronicles” fan for decades. As my heading states, I literally wrote the first draft of the Wikipedia article on “The Golden Path” (I wrote like ten Wiki articles on “Dune”).Dune belongs on Netflix. It’s too sweeping for a movie, even one broken up into bits. Dune is too abstruse, it’s subject matter is so “inside baseball” that it’ll need to be stripped of everything good to make it fit a film (or even TV show). “Dune” is fantasy more than scifi (like “Star Wars”, despite there being no magic in “Dune”). So it’s approachable from that angle, it’s just that, fantasy has its fans. Scifi has its fans. Dune is unlike any of them and for that, it is a bit off putting for people.I predict it’ll flop. I predict that Comcast/NBC (Edit: AT&T) owns the TV rights. I predict that their new streaming service, “The Peacock”, will begin producing a show. Okay, I dont’ predict that, they said as much. I predict that it’ll do well and more “Dune” tv series will be greenlit. There, you will find a good “Dune” story. This will be a one hit wonder.
