Junior English: Fill & Download for Free

I started to pass on this because I have had excellent communication with my children’s teachers, but I did remember this:My daughter had an A in junior English, but there was a comment on her grade card that she ‘does not work up to potential.’ My daughter asked the teacher (and shared the answer she got with me) what that meant since she had the highest grade possible in the class.The teacher’s response was that my daughter was not working up to potential because she had not enrolled in the Honors section of junior English and if she could make an A in regular English she should be in Honors English.My daughter responded that she would have taken Honors English, but there was a scheduling conflict with another class she wanted to take (I don’t remember what it was), and she chose the other class rather than Honors English.The teacher continued to insist that, regardless of scheduling conflicts, my daughter wasn’t working up to potential.I told her to just laugh it off; there is no reasoning with some people when they get an idea in their head!I want to emphasize that this was an exception; my experience with teachers, both as a parent and as a colleague, has been primarily positive.

Hi Bryce! Please! Tell me what you are up to and how you are doing. I would love to know. You know how teachers refer to students as “my student”? Well, that goes for former students, too. And just as I used to brag about you to my friends and family when you were actually in my class, I continue to brag about my former students.And it doesn’t just have to be the good news. I want to hear about what is challenging you right now, too. Life has its ups and downs, and we are all works in progress.I am still good friends with my junior English teacher all these years later. Not only does she want to hear about me, I want to hear about her, her grandchildren, and her adventures. Obviously, she was a role model as an English teacher, but over the years I have been a role model for her, as well (I am more patient than she is and I maintain faith in humanity more easily).My former students inspire me! Yup.In the last place I taught, I had one section of Junior English that had, and I am not kidding about this, three and a half sets of twins in it - all girls. (One was a twin, but her twin sister wasn’t in class). Two sets were identical twins and one set were fraternal twins that looked identical.The fraternal twins and one set of the identical twins I couldn’t keep straight to save my life.I finally figured out by the end of the year that in the fraternal set of twins, one had a broken nose at one point and I could tell them apart if they were right next to each other based on that. Other than that, it was really hard to tell one from the other. They were good-natured about it and tried to make life easier on the teachers regarding it. I’d say by the end of the year, I guessed correctly about 60% of the time.One set of identical twins was a lost cause. They delighted in confusing people and would often dress identically, wear their hair the same, and purposefully sit in each other’s seats just to screw people up. I didn’t have assigned seating for the most part, but they would exchange their regular spots all the time. They were the Fred and George of my classroom. Their own mother remarked on it at parent-teacher conferences. I would just hand both assignments back to one twin and let them sort it out.The other set of identical twins hated being identical twins. They were polar opposite personalities and didn’t even really like each other that much. They sat on opposite sides of the room and didn’t change unless they had to. One dyed her hair bright red and tended to dress in rather radical clothing. The other was more of a popular girl and tended to dress accordingly. They probably could have messed with the teachers, but were not at all inclined to do so, so that made life a little easier.I don’t know why that guidance counselor decided to do that to me, but it made life much more difficult for the year.
