The major consensus is that:Vegan diets can be survivable for dogs.Such diets need to be carefully managed, supplemented, and adjusted by someone with extensive knowledge of pet nutrition.Even a carefully managed vegan diet for dogs could carry significant risk to the wellbeing of the dog.There is very little long term research into the safety of a vegan diet for any type of dog over their lifetime, and what we do have is often heavily biased.Dogs can safely enjoy many non-animal product, vegan foods or even entire vegan meals from time to time.While commercial dog foods can be very hit or miss, there are a few vegan brands out there that are better at covering a dog’s nutritional needs than others. Look for one that passed the Association of American Feed Control Officials feeding trials so you know it has the minimum levels of protein and other nutrients required to sustain a dog.Again, I’m going to repeat what what the vets say: it’s not ideal for health or longevity, but a properly managed vegan diet can sustain a dog. Ethically, you should be providing your dog what they need to live their best life, not just to keep them alive but to let them thrive.To address the linked video:On camera, a dog that’s accustomed to eating a certain food might choose that familiar food over another, nutritionally better for them food. If you offered my dogs a spoonful of peanut butter and a bowl of boiled chicken pieces, they would chose the peanut butter every single time. That doesn’t mean I can or should switch them to an all-peanut butter diet.My dogs enjoy foods like raw carrots, brown rice, peanut butter, apples, beans, and occasionally tofu. But they get those foods as snacks, treats, and supplements to their veterinarian-recommended diet containing animal protein.

Nope. The first rabies vaccination is good for one year, no matter the age of your dog when it is given. After that, in most US states, each successive vaccination is good for 3 years. Some states limit it to 1 year for all rabies vaccinations, but that is a political limitation not medical. This assumes the vaccine used is licensed for 3 years. There are vaccines that are only licensed for 1 year, in which case it must be given annually.

The chemical flea treatments licensed for use on dogs have been exhaustively tested to ensure that they pose no risk whatsoever to dogs or their owners even if used for the entire lifetime of the dog, or several dogs in succession.
