PDF Editor FAQ

Who on Quora attempted the UPSC CSE Prelims 2018 and think that they will clear it this time? If yes, then what did you do differently that we as candidates missed to do?

This year was my second attempt. In 2017 I cleared prelims with 119 marks. This year I am getting between 111–116 as per different answer keys. Considering the difficulty of this year’s prelims, I will mostly clear it this time as well.Things that I feel worked for me.Dedication and consistency in reading The Hindu. I used to religiously read newspaper and make copious notes from it. I used to revise these notes as well. Moreover, anything that I did not understand in the paper, I googled it and read either wiki of it or PIB release. This way these extra points also entered my newspaper notes. This will automatically increase the temporal coverage of news and will allow one to answers questions on contemporary issues (as is the trend these days)I read new Ncerts multiple times. In 2018 I also googled any word in Ncerts that is casually mentioned in them but not explained. This helps a lot in ancient, medieval, and modern history. Santhal Tenancy act question in 2018 is an example of this. However, people reading old Ncerts do not need to google anything extra. I have observed, things casually mentioned in the new Ncerts are nicely explained in the old ones.Insights test series. In my both attempts I followed Insights test series. In 2018, I read the solutions of each and every test religiously and again did google searches of anything that I did not understand. I took the print outs of all the solutions and then wrote all the extra stuff I googled regarding each test on these printouts for quick revision of the entire test. I could answer Jainism sect, and Bengaluru question because of this.Careful study of past UPSC papers. This made me realised how tough questions are made from lower class Ncerts. Hence, I focussed on each and every word in Ncerts. This is extremely useful for history, geography, and polity. Also, I realised that national parks/tiger reserves are often asked and linked with geography. So my friend and I made short notes of all the 50 tiger reserves by reading the intro of their wiki page. Same thing for Ramsar sites and Biosphere Reserves. Finally the questions on Pakhui and Kodaikanal were answered based on this as Renuka is a less known Ramsar site which is a natural lake.Careful prediction of probable questions. When one reads newspaper, some topics are frequently repeated and that intensity makes them worthy to be asked in Upsc. Current affairs magazines will often miss this frequency aspect. I was very sure of a question on invasive species this year. Hence I made a list of common invasive species in India and Prosopis juliflora was part of that list. Similarly, FRBM report was submitted and was frequently in news and also in PRS reviews. Hence I carefully noted the recommendations and hence answered it correctly. The paper was a bit factual but anyone reading newspaper regularly and religiously will end up knowing the facts asked in the paper without any extra effort. This is because in newspapers things are repeated a lot and hence revision happens without realisation. IRNSS, PSLV-GSLV, GM mustard fits in this category. One should read everything from the mains perspective. That is the only way one will end up knowing about common parliamentary acts that do not fit in the one year span of news that one usually covers. Forests Rights Act and RTE questions fit in this category.According to me, do not completely rely on coaching materials. Use them only as a guide or do not use them at all. It is always wise to know something extra about a topic than what is already mentioned in the coaching magazines and all. This will protect an aspirant in case UPSC decides to slaughter all the coaching material. Lack of schemes questions this year can be attributed to this. Finally, currently no test series can replicate the time pressure that one actually faces in the real exam. I used to easily solve mocks in 1–1.30 hours, attempt 90, and get above 100 always. But in my both 2017 and 2018 prelims, I faced severe time crunch in the actual exam. In 2018, I did a lot of silly mistakes because of the paucity of time. Hence I lost lots of marks to it.Thanks.

Have you started or completed writing a book? What was your book about and is it available?

I never know if this type of question is purely out of curiosity, or if the asker is looking for something to buy and read.Yes, I’ve completed four books that are available at Amazon under my name. I only recommend three of them for purchase, but that’s the answer to a different question. One more book is at my editor, and one is at my fingertips for rewrite of the raw draft.I write science fiction, and so far have two “buckets” of novels: those involving a Frob named Gerfnit who becomes the savior of planet Earth, and a trilogy about alien plants that look like humans except for backroots.Titles I’d Recommend:Originated Under Twin SunsInvasive Species and Invasive Species: Seeds. (Invasive Species: Food Chain later this year.)

Why is Australia going to slaughter 5 thousand camels?

Original answer was: Why is Australia going to slaughter 10 thousand not 5 thousand camels. The reason Australia is going to slaughter 10 thousand camels because its easy to kill what you don’t need anymore.Reading answers here on Quora why is Australia going to slaughter 10 thousand camels I sense that people are angry with the camels. I don’t understand why? There is no empathy and compassion that thousands of innocent animals will be a slaughter. They will suffer and they are going to be left for dead, left to decompose. The camels want the same what humans want food, water, and take care of their young ones.“Camels are an invasive species in Australia, originally imported by explorers to help them cross the desert.” So after the camels helped the explorers cross the desert and they were not needed anymore the camels were just dumped like garbage, nobody took the camels back, the camels were dumped to fend for themselves.“Camels are not native to Australia and are a feral pest that is destroying the natural environment.” “Native species are plants and animals that originated and live in an area without any human intervention.” Humans had no business bringing camels and other species to Australia. Humans created the problem. Don’t blame and be angry with the animals for it. Introduced Australian Animals List | Feral | Invasive | Pests ... https://panique.com.au › trishansoz › animals › australia-introduced-animals“Because they are nuisance animals which cause damage” So the camels are just like humans, they are nuisance animals that destroy and cause damage. All the answers about camels being nuisance, feral pests, invasive species, made me think about the invasive species. How is that only apply to animals but not humans?“Indigenous peoples, also known as First peoples, Aboriginal peoples or Native peoples, are ethnic groups who are the original owners and caretakers of a given region, in contrast to groups that have settled, occupied or colonized the area more recently.”So how many of all the Australian people are the original Indigenous people? And what about the rest of the Australian people, the one's that left their own country to settle permanently in another, moving abroad are they are not invasive species? So how do you think the Indigenous people feel about the invasive human species?RIP. Camels.I am very sorry that humans let you down.UPDATE: January, 16, 2020. Some people are asking for a solution to help camels. In 2009 Animal welfare activists have mooted administering birth control drugs. While the country makes up its mind about what to do with its camels, it should be mindful that the numbers are unlikely to fall of their own accord. ” Australian camel cull plan angers animal welfare groups Australian camel cull plan angers animal welfare groups“Outraged Somalis are urging Australians to stop culling camels, and to instead send the animals to the Horn of Africa so that they can look after them. Somalis have a deep love for camels, which they call "geel". They measure wealth and status by the number of camels that people own, not the amount of cash they have.” Somali outrage over Australia camel slaughter - BBC.com FromPetition by: Juhi Singh Kushwah. “There can be another thousands of solution to solve this problem like sending the camels to some other place or distributing them or countries making agreement to exchange the animals.” People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA): Let’s come together to stop brutal killing of camels in Australia. - Sign the Petition!
