PDF Editor FAQ

What is the average profile of a international student selected into MIT for undergrad?

MIT does not separate out statistics for international students from US Residents. That being said MIT does limit international students in the undergraduate pool to 10%. MIT allows international students to use the TOEFL instead of the SAT/ACT if they come from non-english speaking countries. This is the point where there is a cutoff. 90 required, 100 recommended on the TOEFL.MIT is one of the few need-blind schools for international students which means they do not look at what you can pay when they decide to admit you.I would look to the statistics on the admitted class of 2015 (2016 should be shortly out) at: The Selection Process | MIT Admissions there are 4 pages and the last has test scores and percentages admitted.MIT makes its first cut by selecting only students they believe can do the work and graduate in 4 years. Then they look to leadership, extracurricular activities and how a student can contribute to the MIT environment.Information about international applicants can be found here: Grades & Coursework | MIT Admissions Please be sure to apply by November 1 (even if not applying early admission (which now is available for international applicants) because MIT will want to know about your finances and your family's finances before deciding on financial aid. This means a group MIT trusts will examine your family's finances to determine how much you should pay (expected family contribution). If you wait and don't supply information then it would be a shame to be admitted but not be able to to enroll.

What is it that only those who work in the White House know, and that normal people wouldn't expect?

I suspect that the people who work in the White House all know Trump is crazier than a loon, while 70 million Americans wouldn’t expect that … unless they vote for lunatics on purpose.Trump has said:Let’s drop nukes on hurricanes!Let’s drop waterbombs on Notre Dame Cathedral!Let’s rake forest “floors” to prevent forest fires!Let’s deny charity to sharks!Let’s inject disinfectants to cure the coronavirus!Let’s trump 80 million votes with my election lies! Here are some of the kookier Trumpisms:TRUMP’S WORDS OF WISDOM ABOUT THE CORONAVIRUS"We have it totally under control! It's one person coming in from China! It's going to be just fine!" — On the coronavirus, 1/22/2020“Within a couple of days, [infections are] going to be down to close to zero. One day, it’s like a miracle. It will disappear.” — While visiting the US Centers For Disease Control And Prevention, 3/6/2020“The tests are beautiful. Anybody that needs a test, gets a test.” — Trump lying or speaking from abysmal ignorance, 3/6/2020“I've always known this is a real [sic], this is a pandemic. I've felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic.” — Trump, eleven days after saying infections would be “close to zero” within “a couple of days”"Is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?” — Trump happily babbles about injecting lethal disinfectants and tissue-destroying UV light so that we can kill ourselves before the coronavirus does"For the 1/100th time, the reason we show so many cases, compared to other countries that haven't done nearly as well as we have, is that our TESTING is much bigger and better." — Trump repeatedly claimed that his COVID-19 numbers would be better if we just let people die without determining the cause"Many people say that it is Patriotic to wear a face mask when you can’t socially distance. There is nobody more Patriotic than me, your favorite President!" — Trump refused to wear a face mask for few months, making him the first unpatriotic American president by his own definitionTRUMP THE WALL NUT"I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will have Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words." — Trump campaign launch rally, 6/15/2015When during the campaign I would say, “Mexico is going to pay for the wall, obviously I never said this!” — Mexico quite obviously didn’t pay for the wall (which is not a wall but a rickety fence that blows over in high winds) because Trump had to steal billions to build a few miles of rickety fence from the US military“They say walls don’t work. Walls work 100%.” — No one can climb over a wall. No one can fly above a wall. No one can sail around a wall. No one can tunnel under a wall. (2/15/2019)TRUMP’S ANATOMY, IQ AND FINANCES"My fingers are long and beautiful, as are various other parts of my body." — Trump became the first president to publicly discuss (and undoubtedly exaggerate) the size of his sex organ“There are those that think I am a very stable genius, OK?” — Well, actually 81 million voters just put you out to pasture (10/2/2019)I know words. I have the best words. — 12/30/2015"Sorry losers and haters, but my IQ is one of the highest - and you all know it! Please don't feel so stupid or insecure, it's not your fault." — Twitter, 5/9/2013 (Trump has, of course, never shared his puny IQ or puny grades)"I look very much forward to showing my financials, because they are huge." — TIME, 4/14/2011 (Trump has, of course, never shared his puny financials)People think I'm a gambler. I've never gambled in my life. To me, a gambler is someone who plays slot machines. I prefer to own slot machines. It's a very good business being the house. — Trump bankrupted his casinos, turning $413 million in free money from his father into over a billion lost in six bankruptcies (Trump: The Art of the Deal, 1987)You can't con people, at least not for long. You can create excitement, you can do wonderful promotion and get all kinds of press, and you can throw in a little hyperbole. But if you don't deliver the goods, people will eventually catch on. — Yes, and 81 million voters did catch on to your cons (Trump: The Art of the Deal, 1987)Part of the beauty of me is that I am very rich. — Good Morning America, 2011TRUMP INSULTS POWs, JEWS, AFRICAN AMERICANS, AFRICANS, HISPANICS, LBGTs, MUSLIMS, AND THE HANDICAPPED"[John McCain is]... not a war hero. He's a war hero - he's a war hero 'cause he was captured. I Like people that weren't captured, OK, I hate to tell you." — Cadet Bone Spurs insults all American POWs, 7/18/2015“I’m a negotiator, like you folks.” — All Jews are greedy, money-mad negotiators, like Trump (in a speech to the Republican Jewish Coalition, 12/3/2015)“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides. On many sides.” — After neo-Nazis attacked a Jewish synagogue during a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia (Washington Post, 8/12/2017)"I have a great relationship with the blacks." — Sure, and that’s why African Americans voted you out of office in overwhelming numbers“Look at my African-American!” — Trump sounding like a plantation owner, Redding, California, 6/3/2016“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries coming here?” — White House meeting, 1/11/2018There is one story that his family doesn't even know what hospital he was born in! — Trump was the world’s most prominent birther (Fox & Friends, 3/28/2011)I have people that actually have been studying it and they cannot believe what they're finding. — Trump never found any evidence that Barack Obama was not born in Hawaii (NBC, 4/7/2011)The word is, according to what I've have read, is that he was a terrible student … — In reality, Barack Obama was a superior student who graduated magna cum laude with a Juris doctorate from Harvard Law School in 1991 (press conference, 4/27/2011)I love working. I'm not a vacation guy. Right? Like Obama, he plays golf in Hawaii. He flies in a 747. — Trump apparently thinks it is wrong for a black president to play golf and fly in a 747, but not for a white president to play a lot more golf and spend most of his presidency either vacationing or campaigning (Hardball with Chris Matthews, 8/4/2017)I'm going to be working for you. I'm not going to have time to go play golf. — Yeah, right (8/20/2016)"They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." — Trump’s initial campaign launch, 6/15/2015“Weak and out of control!” — Trump railing at black athletes for kneeling to protest racial injustices (Twitter, 11/28/2017)“I’m the least racist person you have ever interviewed.” — Or perhaps not (1/14/2018)"It's like in golf... A lot of people - I don't want this to sound trivial - but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive... it's weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can't sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist." — Trump fiddling on the roof for the New York Times, 1/5/2011I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, NJ, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering. It was on television. I saw it. It was well covered at the time, George. Now, I know they don't like to talk about it, but it was well covered at the time. There were people over in New Jersey that were watching it, a heavy Arab population, that were cheering as the buildings came down. Not good. — None of this is true (11/25/2015)Written by a nice reporter. Now the poor guy - you ought to see the guy: ‘Uhh I don't know what I said. I don't remember!' He's going, ‘I don't remember! Maybe that's what I said.' — Trump mocks a handicapped reporter, using offensive body language in the process (11/26/2015)TRUMP WAXES WISE ON WOMEN AND THEIR BODY FLUIDS"You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever." — Women who merely quote what Trump said publicly are vastly unfair and must be on the rag (CNN, 8/8/2015)“You’re disgusting.” — Trump on the subject of breastfeeding mothers (New York Times, 7/28/2015)“She’s not my type.” — Trump’s defense against charges of rape and molestation has not been that he wouldn’t rape or molest women, but that the victims are not attractive enough for him to bother (6/24/2019)You know, it doesn't really matter what the media writes as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ass — Esquire interview, 1991You have to treat 'em [women] like shit. — New York Magazine, 1992It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave solider. — Trump, who dodged the draft and sent other men to fight and die in his place, compares having sex to the Vietnam War, calling women’s genitals “potential landmines” (The Howard Stern Show, 1997)"If Hillary Clinton can't satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?" — Twitter, 4/16/2015"The only card she has is the woman's card. She's got nothing else to offer and frankly, if Hillary Clinton were a man, I don't think she'd get 5 percent of the vote. The only thing she's got going is the woman's card!" — Vox, 4/26/2016"While @BetteMidler is an extremely unattractive woman, I refuse to say that because I always insist on being politically correct." — Twitter, 10/28/2012".@arianahuff [Ariana Huffington] is unattractive both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man - he made a good decision." — Twitter, 8/28/2012If I were running my business, I'd fire Rosie, I mean, I'd look her right in that fat ugly face of hers and say, "Rosie, you're fired." — 8/28/2011"I would never buy Ivana any decent jewels or pictures. Why give her negotiable assets?" — Such a charmer, that Trump! (Vanity Fair, September 1990)Must be a pretty picture, you dropping to your knees. — Trump to Brande Roderick on The Apprentice, 2013“I won’t do anything to take care of them [his children]. I’ll supply funds and she’ll take care of the kids. It’s not like I’m gonna be walking the kids down Central Park.” — Howard Stern interview, 2005"My favorite part [of Pulp Fiction] is when Sam has his gun out in the diner and he tells the guy to tell his girlfriend to shut up. 'Tell that bitch to be cool. Say: Bitch be cool.' I love those lines." — As quoted in TrumpNation: The Art of Being the Donald, 2005I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life. — Trump expresses his affection for his fellow pedophile Jeffrey Epstein; Trump would confess he own pedophilia to Howard Stern on nationwide radio when he bragged about barging into the dressing rooms of teenage girls (some as young as 14) to ogle them in the nude (New York Magazine, 2002)I'll go backstage, before a show, and everyone's getting dressed and ready and everything else. And you know, no men are anywhere. And I'm allowed to go in because I'm the owner of the pageant and therefore I'm inspecting it. You know I'm inspecting, I want to make sure everything is good, the dresses, "Is everyone OK?", you know they're standing there with no clothes, "Is everybody OK?", and you see these incredible-looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that. — Except that many of the contestants were not “women” but teenage girls, making you a pedophile (The Howard Stern Show, 4/11/2005)I did try and fuck her. She was married. I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn't get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she's now got the big phony tits and everything. She's totally changed her look. I've gotta use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her. You know, I'm automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. When you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything... Grab 'em by the pussy. You can do anything. — Trump to Billy Bush, on tape, 2005TRUMP TRUMPS LINCOLN, REAGAN, BIDEN, ET AL"Nobody's ever been treated badly like me... Although they do say Abraham Lincoln was treated really badly." — Yes, being shot in the head is probably worse than the sticks and stones of words you keep whining about like an overgrown baby (6/16/2019)"The line of 'Make America great again,' the phrase, that was mine, I came up with it about a year ago, and I kept using it, and everybody's using it, they are all loving it. I don't know, I guess I should copyright it, maybe I have copyrighted it." — "Let's Make America Great Again" was one of Ronald Reagan's most well-known campaign slogans“I mean, look, Joe never got more than 1%, except Obama took him off the trash heap, and now it looks like he’s failing.” — Well, there is the little problem that Joe Biden beat you by 8 million votes (6/11/2019)“I think [Joe Biden is] the weakest, mentally. And I like running against people that are weak, mentally.” — Where does that leave you, mentally?
