What is the ongoing issue in the NRC in Assam? Explain it briefly.

National register of citizen (NRC) is a register that contains names of Indian citizens of Assam. NRC was first prepared in 1951, after 1951 census of India. In 1979 a popular movement (Assam movement) [1] come up against illegal immigrants in Assam. This movement was led by AASU[2] and AAGSP , devloped a program of protest and demonstration to detect and deport of illegal immigrants and protect and provide constitutional safeguards. During the year of protest 855 people had died. This agitation ended in August 1985 following historic Assam Accord[3] which was signed by AASU - AAGSP and Government of India. In clause 5 of Assam Accord says thatForeigners who came to Assam after 1.1.1966 (inclusive) and upto 24th March, 1971 shall be detected in accordance with the provisions of the Foreigners Act, 1946 and the Foreigners (Tribunals) Order 1964.Foreigners who came to Assam on or after March 25, 1971 shall continue to be detected, deleted and expelled in accordance with law. Immediate and practical steps shall be taken to expel such foreigners. The historic Assam Accord was signed in presence of the then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. Now , NRC updation process across Assam includes the name of all those persons who appear in the NRC 1951, or any of the electroal rolls upto the midnight of 24 March, 1971 or any one of the other documents issued up to the midnight of 24 March, 1971.The NRC and the Electroal roll up to the midnight of 24 March,1971 together are collectively called legacy data.[4]Even in case anyone do not find the required name in the Legacy Data, inclusion in updated NRC can still be possible through any of the following documents:Land & Tenancy Records (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)ORCitizenship Certificate (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)ORPermanent Residential Certificate (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)ORRefugee Registration Certificate (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)ORPassport (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)ORLIC (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)ORAny Govt. issued License/Certificate (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)ORGovt. Service/Employment Certificate (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)ORBank/Post Office Accounts (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)ORBirth Certificate (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)ORBoard/University Educational Certificate (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)ORCourt Records/Processes (up to midnight of 24th March, 1971)On 30th July, 2018, the final draft of NRC was released. Names of 40 lakh people were left out in the final draft. The persons whose names do not appear in the Draft updated NRC, may file claim application within a stipulated period at the NSK where the Application Form was submitted.A person may also have an objection against entry of any name in the draft NRC.After completion of the Disposal of Claims and Objections, final registers at various levels, namely, Local Register of Citizens (LRC), Circle Register of Citizens (CRC), and the District Register of Citizens (DRC) will then be published as Final Updated SRC (NRC for the state).NRC updation process have been devloped jointly by the Government of India and Government of Assam under the supervision of The supreme Court of India.Edit 1 :Why it is important to identify the illegal immigrants explained by former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee in assembly. Please Listen carefully.Edit 2 :Double standard of Mamata banerjee !Footnotes[1] Assam Movement - Wikipedia[2] All Assam Students Union - Wikipedia[3] Assam Accord - Wikipedia[4] http://www.nrcassam.nic.in/week2.html

What is your opinion on 445 Bangladeshis returning to their home country after the introduction of NRC-CAA by India?

I am from Barak Valley, Assam. I live in Karimganj just near the borders of Bangladesh in a heavily muslim populated neighbourhood. During NRC, I have seen many muslims forging the identity to enter the list. I don’t know their fate whether they entered the list or not. But believe me there are lakhs of Muslims who are originally from bangladesh coming through the borders. Please don’t take it as any pro-CAA answer because no one knows whether CAA or NRC will work or backfire. And neither I want to rant about our Muslim brothers because we grew up with muslims. This is strictly about the illegal immigration and the perilous situation that is hovering above us, which might prove fatal if we ignore. It is affecting us, and it will be disastrous if not thought about. Many days I have seen Rickshaw-pullers who are seen giving a ride but they don’t know the place. One day I asked a rickshaw-wala whether he could give a ride from DC office to Karimganj College which is almost a straight road with little turning, but he said that he doesn’t know the path. When we jokingly inquired whether he is new here, & where is he from, he hesitantly said that he is from the near by place.Slowly I found the root of the issue. The borders of Indo-Bangla borders are porous. The BSF officers in charge whoever is there guarding the borders, many of them are corrupt. They allow bangladeshis to come over India to do petty jobs, and then return by the night by giving them some money from their earnings. But this is not a major issue. Some of them are run by gangs who help big families, even entire group of many families cross the border in exchange of huge sum of money or jewellery. Many parts of the borders are unguarded, and many parts are just river boundaries, though which illegal immigration and smuggling are big issues[1]. Many youths including women illegally enter India and work as labourers in various parts of the nation. Many families who want to move to India pay huge sum of money to these gangs who help them cross the boundaries and then these families contact some other member of the gang which help them settle in places in Silchar (Sonai-Miroram border), Hailakandi etc in Barak Valley. Since they are muslims, they easily integrate with the local muslim population who help them settle and ease the procedure to get documents knowingly or unknowingly.Such syndicate groups are active specially in Dhubri, Karimganj in Assam to Tripura & West Bengal.Pic: 31 Bangladeshis held at Assam railway station . They were caught with tickets to Agartala, Tripura. Upon interrogation, they said they work as daily Wage labourers in Bangalore, and had illegally entered India 3years back.Generally a bad fear is created in North East with regard to the settlements and complex procedures of NRC and that too dual NRC, CAA etc have confused such gangs and the problems of documentations have created a risk, so many have returned back since the NRC list was published[2] & many are skeptical of settling in North East although its a big vote bank for Congress and ally parties. But the problem in West Bengal is that these illegal settlers (mostly muslim settlers) are a big vote bank for TMC. Open statement by a CM of an INDIAN state challenging the Indian Prime Minister “Who is Modi to oust Bangladeshis, says Mamata Banerjee” have created a sense of assurance to those syndicate gangs operating in Bengal to inflow several families to settle in West Bengal and cause a demographic change in the state in future[3].My opinion is that the 445 number is just a tip of an ice-berg. Tens of millions of bangladeshis (not speaking about the persecuted minorities who came there with no hope but to save their life & honour) are present in West Bengal, Assam etc and they are spreading in entire India. Many even return to bangladesh after working in states like Rajasthan & Kerala then again come back to India. Its kind of seasonal free time visit. They have both Indian ID cards which is provided by thugs in West Bengal and Bangladeshi citizenship. Look at how Bangladeshi nationals are involved in rape & dacoity cases in even far away places like Jaipur & other cities. Two held for Vaishali Nagar rape & dacoity, 1 arrested in Bangladesh | Jaipur News - Times of IndiaKarnataka: 60 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants arrested in BengaluruSIT probe shows Bangladeshi criminals were involved in Seemapuri riots | Delhi News - Times of IndiaRanaghat rape/robbery: CID focus on Bangladeshi gangMany are also involved in terrorism and blasts to places even like Uttar Pradesh. Seriously?Death sentence to Bangladeshi national in Shramjeevi blast case19, including 4 Bangladeshis, convicted in 2014 Burdwan blastsJMB Operative Involved in 2018 Bodh Gaya Blast Arrested by Bihar Special Task ForceReports suggest that there are crores of Bangladeshis in India (post 1971 war) and majority of them are threat to the security and integrity of the nation. But we are fools and half of us the kind of Jaichands of our society when we fight for politics and thugs shield such illegal immigrants who have no reason but money, lust, work and other vested interest to enter India, specially being the vote bank of parties like Congress & TMC. BJP was voted to power to simplify and solve the issue, but it seems its getting rather complex when Indians too are supporting such thugs in the name of religion fearing their own existence in this nation, even after repeated appeal that their nationality will remain intact[4] even if God doesn’t want to[5]. Reports suggest that few villages in West Bengal is entirely wiped out of non-Muslim population by xenophobia and repeated influx of Bangladeshis to India. We have to take a step, and very quickly otherwise the situation wont be able to be controlled, looking at the situation of the nation now[6] anything can happen in the name of protests and people will come to defend it in the name of liberalism and secularism.Edit: As pointed by one in comments- not all officers are corrupt, many are blackmailed and their life security are also compromised. I do understand that even officers face threat from those syndicate gangs, and even their family’s security are compromised. But we can’t sit idle and do nothing. I am sorry I am not experienced neither qualified to answer what we can do in such situation. I hope it is raised to the home ministry and the top-brass officials so that they take necessary steps. If Israel can secure its borders, If China can secure its borders, if Europe can secure its borders, then why can’t we? There is definitely a way. Also, some-one pointed about the linguistic demography change in NE, and how even allowing non-muslims will not be wise. I definitely agree with you thats why I don’t support CAA in this case. But if we witness how non-muslims are tortured and persecuted and no place to go, sometimes even my heart melts. NE is in a tough position where people are wary of their lingusitic and community rights, but also can’t ignore the plight of the non-muslims who ran away from a dreadful life[7]in our neighbouring nation. I have a grandfather’s friend who lost all his family when they faced anti-Hindu riot in present day bangladesh during 1949–50s. My grandfather said that those times were deadly and many of the relatives could’nt even make to India and were butchered on their way. So, I definitely leave this to the govt of the respective states of NE & the Union Govt of India and the judiciary to take whatever necessary. I have no personal say on this issue.Edit 2: Thank you Sam Simon for your suggestions. I definitely took it into consideration. I am thankful to you for your concerns.Footnotes[1] EXCLUSIVE: Damning evidence of infiltration from porous Bangladesh border in Assam[2] 445 Bangladeshis returned from India in last 2 months: BGB chief[3] Bengal is a graveyard of Hindus thanks to Muslim appeasement policy[4] अमित शाह बोले, NRC से किसी भी धर्म के भारतीय नागरिक को डरने की जरूरत नहीं[5] Muslim इस देश के नागरिक थे, हैं और रहेंगे: Amit Shah[6] Anti-Hindu slogans in IIT Kanpur during CAA Protest कानपुर आईआईटी में हिंदू विरोधी नारे, शिकायत[7] 11 jailed for life for rape of Sirajganj schoolgirl

Besides religion, what are some scams which are commonly used to deceive people?

******** EXTREMELY IMPORTANT******************READ TILL THE END**********Indian nationals living in Germany are being targeted by a new wave of scam phone calls claiming to be from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Auswärtiges Amt), the Federal Office of Migration and Refugees (Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge), or from the Indian Embassy. The callers threaten deportation and demand payment to a Western Union account in India. The scamThe callers fraudulently claim to be calling from German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Auswärtiges Amt) and tell the person that there has been a problem with the processing of their visa and/or arrival card information.Often the caller has some details of the person they are speaking to, such as name, date of birth, and/or address. The caller may also quote reference numbers, although these do not appear to match German Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ client or application numbers. The callers are quite persistent, aggressive, and sound authoritative. As the callers have personal details of the person they are speaking to and since they call from the same number as that of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the recipient of the call often believes it is genuine. The callers demand that the victims pay money into a Western Union account or face serious consequences, such as deportation.Calls have been made using numbers showing as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (+49 30 18172000) and the Federal Office of Migration and Refugees (Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge), or from the Indian Embassy itself using caller ID spoofing. The scammers are using a technology known as caller ID spoofing that allows a legitimate phone number to appear when the call is actually being made from another number, quite possibly from outside of Germany. Please take a note of it and broadcast it.I've been a victim and would like to save others from such scams. Please see attachment for my story.*********** My Story**************3rd September 2015,Today was one of the most pathetic day of my life. I fell prey to a telephone scam and would like to spread awareness against such scams. At 9.00 a.m., when I was in the office, I got a call from +49 30 18172000 (“Auswärtiges Amt” or the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs) which I could not answer for the first 2 attempts. I answered the call only on the third attempt and the guy on the other side said he was John Schmidt from the ministry of foreign affairs and is calling in regard to the false information given by me in the immigration form when I came back to Germany from India on 27th of March 2015. Although he sounded like an Indian guy trying hard to fake American accent, he asked me to check his number on google to assure me that it wasn’t scam call which actually made me feel that it was a legitimate call. He said that I’ve entered a false DOB in the immigration form and therefore a case has been registered against me in the Supreme Court of India in New Delhi & at the German High Commission office in New Delhi. The asked me to note down the following details.Case No in Supreme Court of India: IND842846Section No: 241/14D-0064Reference No: GER248648Recorded Conversation No: SFO642428He threatened me at first saying that I will be deported to India with a black mark on my passport and with the black mark, I will never be allowed to travel across any foreign country. He suggested me 2 options to solve this issue.1) To go back to New Delhi and solve the case there2) Solve the case from Germanyofcourse, I selected to solve the case from Germany and he guided me the with the process. He said that there have been 2 Solicitors assigned for my case from the two govt. organizations i.e. Mr. John K from Supreme Court of India in New Delhi & Mr. Felix Mangminlian from the German High Commission office in New Delhi. The penalty payments were to be made separately in the two names amounting 670€ each. He also said that I would be charged 36€ for each payment by Western Union so the whole sum would be (670*2 + 36*2 = 1412€). According to him, the whole conversation was being recorded continuously. I was neither allowed to disconnect the call till the whole process was done nor to discuss this problem with anyone. If in between the call got disconnected, he would call me back and I was to answer their call before 60 seconds. He asked me to leave my office right at that time, take a taxi and get my passport from home. Then withdraw 1412€ from my (deutsche) bank and go to Western Union (affiliated to Post bank in Germany) and pay the penalty against my case separately in the name Mr. Felix Mangminlian and Mr. John K.Some factors like: the call from the same number as that of the Ministry of foreign Affairs, his German name and the German names of the solicitors, his exact calculations about the amounts, the detailed case information, and of course, my foolishness made me believe that it was all legitimate. Even though things like his fake accent, fact that I had to transfer the money in the names of the person and not the Govt offices made me suspicious but I was too stressed out to think about it and did everything as he demanded. After making the transfer through Western Union, I came home and googled immigration call frauds from my laptop (as the person was still on call with me) and found out similar cases(http://www.indiansinkuwait.com/ShowArticle.aspx?ID=27338&SECTION=0). Without wasting time I called Western Union from my roommates mobile and stopped the transaction. The guy named John Schmidt immediately discovered that the transaction has been stopped and he asked me if I have stopped it. I told him that I’ve deliberately stopped the transaction and have informed the police. Hearing this, he disconnected the call.I filed an FIR about the case and got all my money back from Western Union since I had stopped the transfer in time.I also registered a complaint with the “Auswärtiges Amt (German Ministry of foreign affairs)” which ironically has the same number from which I received this scam call.I lost however my whole day and 70€ for Taxi.My advice: Do not upload your personal data on any of the social networking platforms.Using VOIP facilities, it is possible to call any one from any number. There is no way to trace numbers. My contact: [email protected]*******Please forward to all relevant groups**********
